Definitely, Freiza is one bad mofo.

Even though that arc went on way too long, the final half is well worth it.

I never felt any of the arcs from then onward were quite as good

The action is always sweet but it never feels as 'big' as it did against Freiza

The Cell and Buu sagas are good but I don't think they reach the same level as the Freiza arc

I would explain but I don't want to ruin anything for Laforge

I seem to recall like two whole episodes taking place over the course of 5 minutes. They're all "Namek is gonna blow up in FIVE MINUTES!"

As I have said before

I read and watch A LOT of shonen

Shonen is almost 100% of my anime diet, almost like eating nothing but meat

Well i've started to delve into the produce and am currently watching Ouran HSHC

I don't usually go for shojo type anime but I ahve to say I am really enjoying it so far.

There's almost no 'fanservice' and nothing gratuitous and vulgar.

It's a very simple, humorous show that looks like it holds some underlying depth

I'd say it's a little more like eating 100% cheesey snacks.

I'm sure Desert Punk was never aired on Sy-Fy, and it was dubbed by Funimation if that is what you were thinking.

As for the anime, it was pretty good.

I'm pretty sure he abandoned that infidel entertainment with his conversion. But seriously, that guy was fucked up. I mean, going on a trip to Japan? What a nerd!

oh yeah, and going to Somalia to join a terrorist group, too.

That's about right, Anime and Islam are about as polar opposite as it gets.
In anime, booze and boobs are a common sight, whereas in Islam, not so much.
In anime, there are some female characters that are strong-willed and won't take any shit. You won't see any of that with your average Islamic woman.

I could go on and on, but I think I made my point.
BTW, Is there really anime in Somalia or just illegal fan subs there?

Treating the woman as a sex object isn't exactly equality either, you know.

Also, is Anime particularly pro-pork, anti-charity and emphasizes religous co-existance, except with the Abrahamic religions?

I've only seen 1.11, but it was a great movie. If you can, go and pick up the Bluray, it's one of the best looking movies I've ever watched.

You know I recently built a gaming PC but blue ray players where still way to expensive for my lack of use for one. Once I get more financial aid I might pick one up along with a new monitor XD.

I honestly didn't notcie major changes in the voice acting

Then again I've always found DBZ to be an exceptionally well acted anime, especially for an english dub (the Japanese sucks).

What I didn't like was how they changed Freiza's voice.

I know it's been forever but the second I heard it I knew they changed something. I don't like how it sounds smoother, I feel it almost takes away from him a bit.

Though the new voice is growing on me.

Response to Anime Club 2010-08-07 01:39:25

Well there are a lot of things I won't miss about Freiza's old voice

I wonder if they'll do something to make Cell's new voice more unique

I remember it being fine but a little too generic. I always found that villains need a more monstrous quality to their voices, especially when you're an alien esque creature like Cell.

Right now, I am juggling 3 series and 2 OVAs. While Dagwon and Gaiking show promise, I have no idea where Kiss Dum is going, but blerg. As for Detonator Orgun and Dangaioh: fucking awesome. And I think it should be 4 with Tekkaman Blade.
