I need a new anime that's aesthetically amazing. Not 5 backgrounds per second amazing, I need something that will have me in awe the whole way through. No romance please. Can someone here help me out? Movies are acceptable.

So, I'm watching jojo's bizarre adventure. This anime is not what I expected it to be. From the name, I thought it would be about some semi-harem in the middle of some african jungle with lovable characters. Turns out that it almost has as much chest hair as fist of the north star.

2 weeks until the next anime season. Can't fucking wait. I haven't been able to find anything to watch recently. I've been thinking of watching sora no woto, considering it just wrapped up, but I can't force myself to watch something I don't like.

The animation and designs though were so bland to me, everyone had the same pointy nose.

Give it time; it really picks up. 7 episodes in you should get the full gist of monster. The downside of monster is that it's pretty long with a decent amount of filler. If you can get past those faults, you should really enjoy it.

It's 5 again, the air is thin.

Kakurenbo has the best animation i have ever seen. Its a 30 minute horror movie about kids who go into a demonic place to play hide and seek.

Even though Monster has its boring moments i would not really describe it as filler, since everything that happens is relevant to the main plot.

The series is very good. It's just as Wesleyiam said, there is a decent amount of filler. Also, for me it felt like there was a portion of the dialog which could have been written better.

I'm pretty sure you'd know all the recommendations I could offer.
There is a movie called Neo-Tokyo that is composed of three 30 minute shorts by some really big names in the Anime industry which I'd say offers a very nice blend of extremely well made animation.
I've never seen the whole thing, but from what I recall, Metropolis had a rather distinct style.

As for myself, I haven't been watching quite as much Anime as I used to. There are a number I still need to finish. I had also started watching "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" not too far back, but despite finding it amazing haven't seen nearly enough of it.

Yeah, Neo Tokyo is very good. I tried to get you fucking people to watch it, but y'all don't listen. Well, the Running Man by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, while having pretty impressive artwork and animation, is kinda boring, but the other two shorts are great, especially Labyrinth Labyrinthos.

Memories, Genius Party, and Genius Party Beyond are also very good collections of short animated films. And Cat Soup is a very interesting short film you should see.

I've never seen the whole thing, but from what I recall, Metropolis had a rather distinct style.

That's very good, too. Tekkon Kinkreet, Steamboy, Paprika, Kemonozume, and Last Exile are also nice to look at, though odds are you've seen every one of those except maybe Kemonozume.

I remember there being one really good one, one okay one, and one not good one.

The really good one came first, so the rest of the collection just seemed to drag.

I thought they were all good, but the most memorable is definitely Magnetic Rose.

I thought that Cannon Fodder was just such an overdone idea. The only thing it had going for it was the art style, and that wasn't enough to keep it from being really dull.

Meh, I don't care about Bleach enough to care about this.
All I can say is it's guaranteed to be a box office bomb, like most other American-produced anime-and video game-based movies.

Hey, Speed Racer was a great movie, and I don't like the Speed Racer anime.

So it... Could be good...

Right?

In any case, there are a lot of live action anime films "in development" that will never see the light of day. This may be one of them.

So i tried watching Higurashi no naku koro ni but i couldn't watch more than 5 minutes of the first episode because of the art style, annoying girl characters, and all the stupid shit going on.

While we're on the topic of movies. Anyone else looking forward to the Trigun film?
Would be awesome if they played it in American Theaters like they will in Japan.

I feel like I had enough Trigun from watching the TV series.

By the end of it, I was a little sick of Trigun.

I don't know much about it, but I'm hoping it will perhaps be an extension of the last episode. Despite Trigun being one of my favorite Anime, the ending was very anti-climactic.

Meh, they show up every so often.

Also, to whomever drew the Kakashi fan art, Naruto is pretty far from my favorite anime, but you show some talent. I'd like to see more of your work. Pencil has always been my favorite format for art, personally I use stipple in any drawings I do.

Sup. Haven't really watched much anime lately. A little bit of golgo 13 here and there, but nothing else really. I'm mostly waiting for the new season to start. That should be pretty sweet. I'll check out neo tokyo and get back to you guys with my opinion.

At 3/27/10 10:18 PM, Mendou wrote: But, who knows? Could be amazing.

Hopefully. I can't remember one good live action adaptation that didn't blow. That might be because all I've seen is blood +, dragonball, and this. Not really.

Blah, it's been so long since most of us have seen trigun, so I don't see why anyone would pass up a live action movie. Trigun was the shit. I could use a little lighthearted action in my life.

Sounds plausible to me.

I draw fanart every so often, too; I prefer pixels as a medium because they are easy to manipulate, much more so than traditional hand art. I still like to doodle by hand because it gives me more control and my drawings consequently look better.

I never draw straight fan art. If I feel the need to draw art based on another person's character, I always at the very least change the style it is drawn in significantly (for example, my drawings of the Newgrounds character Nene that I've done for a couple of art competitions, that I have hosted in my profile).

I just think redrawing other people's characters is such a pointless artistic endeavour. There's next to no creativity involved, and that's what I feel that, for the most part, drawing should be about.

Also, it's a totally boring thing to do as an activity, I find.
