Hey.

I got several episodes of Gurren Lagann on my slightly used new ipod, and, of course, they're English dubs.

Surprisingly, the dubs aren't bad. Even though Kamina calls Yoko "thunder thighs" instead of fatass like in the subs. Meh.

I sort of wonder why Leeron would still pull his fruit voice in the middle of a crisis, like, say, in the last episode's epic fight scene.

I have nothing to say that is at all relevant.

Hello. If you want to know I am a fellow anime fan. My favorites are Bleach, Naruto, Deathnote, and Code Geass. Comment me back if you like any of these.

Oh geez, this club is dead.

I was at the video rental today, and I spied in the festival section of the new releases 'The Girl Who Lept Through Time.' I'd been wanting to see this film for a while, so I coughed up the five dollars (the most I have spent on renting a movie in some time) and sat down to watch it.

Wow that was a movie that took a long time to get going.

It's a lot like Groundhog Day, both in the premise, and the way that the main characters use their newfound talents to do a lot of comedic things before things get more dramatically involving. The problem is that the comedy portion of The Girl Who Lept Through Time really goes on way too long, and starts to get a little boring.

Of course the second half really was great, though. It made up for the first (even if the ending did go on for a little longer than I felt that it should.)

The animation of the movie was significantly unimpressive, though.

All in all, a good movie.

Sometimes, I sicken myself.

I am attempting to watch Code Geass, despite the fact that it was described to me as "Death Note with big robots" but there have been some issues with my copy.

If there is no other solid topic going on...

I'm watching GaoGaiGar in its entirety. Aside from being extremely epic, it's one of the few Animes that I have seen where I can enjoy the Japanese Dubbing. Now I'm not one of those guys who hate everything not in the English language, but for most Japanese Dubbing, it hurts to listen to.

Opinions on GaoGaiGar anyone?

Haha, Death Note with big robots...Yeah, that's a pretty accurate description.

Well, I don't have much to say except that I'm thirty episodes into Gundam ZZ. I haven't been watching much except that and Kaiji, but I haven't been watching much of that. All things considered, I'm really liking this series. The first episodes were really tedious to watch and all the SLAPSTICK FUNNY FUN was almost rage-inducing, but soon all that just went away and the plot started getting good. It is no Zeta Gundam, but it's not bad. It's just not bad.

Shopping spreeeeeeeeeee :D

I got a Krauser II revoltech figure and a Great Mazinger model kit... now to buy shit to help me build it.

I also bought Final Fantasy V the OST, will listen to that soon.

I finished Gantz yesterday, disappointing ending.
Started reading a pretty awesome manga called Shamo, its about a guy who murders his family and becomes a martial artist. Quite intense.

Response to Anime Club 2009-07-02 17:52:00

Wow, what the gay happened to this gayhole?

I'm about halfway through Escaflowne. It got a little more interesting. I still don't think it's the masterpiece that Mendou assured me it was. I finally saw Afro Samurai, which was fun to watch. Lupin III: the Secret of Mamo was awesome, and My neighbor Totoro was interesting and creative as any Miyazaki film would be. It got my baby niece's attention, too.

I got that along with VI OST when I got FF Anthology years ago. I still haven't beaten a single Final Fantasy game ever.

Gantz was actually alright imo, could have had less ecchi though. And they never explained what the fuck Gantz even was.

I bought second semester of GTO and second Lupin III movie pack. :3 been on the lookout for those (kinda, haven't been at the anime shop for a while now), so I'm extremely happy.

Also found first manga volume of Dragonball and second volume of Dr Slump, as well as something called Mao Chan.

See how those go. :3

Finally finished Gundam ZZ. Well...the show overall was enjoyable. I had very low expectations for this one since I'd heard from a lot of people that it was really awful (and for a moment it was...fucking Moon Moon people) but I actually thought it got pretty good after a few episodes. The final episodes were kind of meh, though...Not much to add there.

It could have been better, it could have been worse, but it's an ok series. Watch at your own risk.

Char's Counterataaaaaack? Where are youuuuuuuu?

Or if you want to watch a real thriller, then watch Perfect Blue.

I second Perfect Blue.

I should watch it again when I'm in a movie mood.

Has anyone heard of the live-action version of Blood: The Last Vampire? Apparently it comes out in theaters tomorrow, but it's a limited release. I liked the anime Blood+, but I'm not all that interested in seeing this movie.

I started reading the Berserk manga, and it seems to be even more violent than the series.
There´s also lots of rape. Even Guts gets raped at the age of 6 by a big black man.. Damn.

I'm losing my patience with Escaflowne. I've only got one more volume to watch, though. I'm pretty disappointed in this show. Now, I'm just watching it because I've gotten too far along to drop it.

I watched Pom Poko today. laughs were had. And I watched Afro Samurai Resurrection recently, which was...meh. The show was definitely better.

Watched Char's Counterattack. Pretty impresive film, could have used more battle scenes and less annoying characters (Quess, I'm looking at yooou!), but it was a good film overall.

I so want a Sazabi now.

Apart from that I haven't watched much except the usual Gundam stuff. I started The 08th MS Team a few days ago and I'm liking it. We finally get to see some of the action through the eyes of the regular soldiers and not special newtypes with ultrapowerful MS's.

I like ecchis more than anything else. I don't know why, it's just the lightheartedness and sexual humor that really gets me. Can anyone make recommendations for someone who thoroughly enjoyed Iketeru Futari? (anime or manga)

Are you talking about harem anime or not safe for work stuff?

Mostly harem, though I'm pretty sure IF wasn't harem. But ecchi can have some nudity and stuff in it that would sometimes put it in the NSFW category. I'm not talking hentai or anything.

If you haven't seen Urusei Yatsura, you should really look into it. It's a classic series by Rumiko Takahashi that spans 50 volumes in the TV version, 6 OVAs, and 6 movies, which you can find on Netflix.
