Now, I love Miyazaki's work as much as the next effeminate geek boy, but one movie, three times in one night? Holy crap.
Anyway, list some favourites, and post if you like, it's not like we screen members or anything.

What does that even mean?
There's a big difference between LOLROBOTS and robots being integral to the plot. They're hardly just there for show.
Maybe you should actually watch an entire episode.

I want to like it, but i just canĀ“t.
It's a 50 episode show.
3 episodes is nothing.
It's a slow burning story, if you're not gonna give it a chance you won't find it engaging.
Fuck you faggots, I'm gonna go watch Kinnikuman.

It mostly means that I find giant robot battles to be boring.

Once again, really giving it a chance would be a good idea.
A lot of mech battles in older series are slow moving and poorly directed, but there are a few well choreographed shows out there.
Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory had excellent fight scenes.

I might check something out sometime since now I feel bad about posting something a little bit stupid and baseless just before I went to bed, but I don't really have a whole lot of time on my hands at the moment.
And on top of that, I have way too many series I have to finish before I start anything new.
If I were to check out a mech-based series, what would you recommend as the best possible one, then?
And is there any mech-based anime series that can stand up to The Iron Giant?

Gunbuster is a pretty good choice.
Gorgeous animation, short, well-written.
New Getter Robo is pretty great, too.

Nothing can really compare to it, honestly.
I don't quite think I've ever seen an anime where Vin Diesel is a super robot who befriends a young boy.

Why, massive amounts of BROMANCE?
Anyway, I'll keep that in mind. Currently, the estimated time of getting back home is around 19th/20th of this month.

It sure fucking is.
Nothing says "bromance" like your enemy buying you dinner just to be an upstanding gent.
I am trying to find out what an anime is called. I hope you guys can help me out.
All I know about it is that it should be pretty good and it features a female gunslinger who reloads her revolver with bullets jumping out of her bossom.

Grenadier, and it's actually a fucking awful show.
But hey.

Awesome .gif, though.

Ugh. I watched Grenadier a few years ago and I found it to be meh-tastic.
It tried too hard to be a female Trigun and failed miserably due to the 13 episode format and crappy plot.
Mikan was the only interesting character.

Is there something wrong with 13 episode shows?
Some of the best shows I've seen are 13 episodes.
Paranoia Agent and Extras were 13 episodes.
And there are plenty of great 'around 13' episodes shows, like Fawlty Towers, Firefly, and The Office (UK).
I'm sure there's way more, but I'm drawing a blank.
Kuro - Puting the 'Kur' back in 'inkurable disease.'
I'm really digging SAC. I just finished the 4th volume. The first two episodes on that disc were especially awesome.

Oh fuck, I completely forgot about that series.
My brother downloaded it, but then his laptop broke and spent ages getting fixed.
Now that it's back I can get back to watching it.
Thank you for reminding me.
Kuro - Puting the 'Kur' back in 'inkurable disease.'
I got the SAC OST. I'm digging through it and finding just a few good songs, such as Surf and this one song labelled "fish_~_silent_cruise". Whether or not that's the actual title, I dig it.
At 5/9/09 08:21 AM, Kuro wrote: Thank you for reminding me.
like totally.
I love that show. It gets a 10/10 from me. I burned it on DVD, too.

spoke too soon. There's lots of good stuff on it, mostly Kanno.
I may be behind the times, but I just finished both Great Teacher Onizuka and Black Lagoon a few days ago. I liked both greatly, but hated the endings.
I also rewatched the Otaku no Video's, because I can.

Speaking of Black Lagoon, the 'Themes' section of the Wikipedia page is one of the worst written pieces of nonsense I have ever read.

SARTRE GRIMDARK SOCIAL OBLIGATION KIERKEGAARD OBSCURE RED ARMY FACTION BLAH BLAH BLAH
The heavy-handed attempts at being DEEP are what made me like Second Barrage less, Black Lagoon was at its best when it was a silly show about gunfights.
I think Mellowlink Ality is a pretty cool guy.
Eh kills giant robots with a rifle and doesn't afraid of anything.

Pick whatever you want.
It's not really a big deal.

Any other brief series that go on like that?
