I saw a live action movie called Casshern, which was pretty bad. I haven't heard of the anime until now.

Speaking of live-action, apparently Death Note: L, Change the World will be in theaters two nights only - Japanese with English subtitles on Wednesday, April 29 and dubbed in English by the anime's US version voice actors on Thursday, April 30. It covers the 23 days L had left after writing his own name in the Death Note. I don't know which one I want to see more, but I'm pretty sure I can't get both days off work.

Anime to live action translations donĀ“t work.. Manga is a different scenario. The Ichi the killer movie was awesome.

I hear two sides of the story. I am going to rent Casshern, since some people liked it (good music, moderate acting, awesome action), but it may also be crap. Oh well, I'll see later.

Currently at episode 12. It's not slow, but there is still much to understand.

Yeah.

I'm wondering how it'll turn out, since the first half of the anime's similar to the manga.

Who cares about Death Note, the movies sucked big time. I really regret buying it, even though it was really cheap.

I'm not usually one to watch AMV's, because as a general rule, I hate the damn things. However, I was poking around on youtube, and found this. It may be one of the mos well put together AMV's I've ever seen.

Also, I secretly love Jonathon Coulton.

Manga is a different scenario. The Ichi the killer movie was awesome.

...and also that Death Note is a manga.

Hey guys and girls, we need to talk.

I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of the Evangelion again and I still hate it.

I loved the television series (up to episode 21 anyway) and the film has great animation and dialogue. The directing was also brilliant. However the film was so unpleasant to watch. The Commandos killing civilians, the Evas being ripped apart, characterss I love in the series being brutally killed off.

The third act of the film was terribly pretentious and just ridiculous.

Does anyone else think it should of ended differently? Or perhaps you liked the film?

I don't want to start an argument, I'm just sharing my opinions.

Note I've seen this film three times over the past 4-5 years and I understand around 75% of what was going on.

Baby Britain.

EoE was a complete piece of shit.

I was hoping it'd be really revolutionary and cool, but it ended up being a dull pile of shock imagery and forced irony.

"Komm Susser Tod" is a cool song and all, but was that really necessary, Anno?

Off topic, not in your club at all, but do you guys know where I can see or get the English Sub/ Dub version of Cyborg 009 of the internet? Also, anybody else love that show?

I do

We do not discuss piracy here.

Unless we're talking about One Piece or Black Lagoon. But thats a different type of piracy.

Well, I also wanted to know what Anime fans thought of the series. I mean, I loved that show, just curious if anyone else out there liked it.

This isn't some sort of elite club filled with exclusive members.

It's a thread.

It says 'club' in the title, but it's just a discussion thread.

You don't need to feel like you're part of anything. You just need to discuss some stuff and hope other people will carry on the dialogue.

Just do what I do in 'clubs'; waltz in and act like you've been there from the start.

Also, to the guy with the anime list: you clearly don't have much idea of how that site works. 44 currently watching anime and five that are finished? Either you really can't commit, or you need to sort out your stuff. Also, how can you be currently watching Perfect Blue? Did you just stop it halfway through and never come back to it?

If you're going to post your anime list like a CV, at least try to organise it a little. I can't tell at all what you like from that.

I just started off Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo.

It seems pretty good, if a little bizarre.

I'm not a big fan of the green screen textures they've got going on, but otherwise the art and animation are good.

I'd really have loved to sit in on the pitch of the show, though.

"Okay, it's an anime adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo."
"Sounds a little boring, make it more interesting."
"Okay... Uh... The Count is... Some sort of vampire?"
"Go on..."
"And it's... Uh... Set on the moon?"
"Sold!"

Overall, I'm interested.

Gundam Unicorn's staff was announced, shit looks promising. Good to see a lot of Birdy staffers here, and Kumiko Takahashi as character designer was a pleasant surprise.

Also, delicious Audrey.
