Probably not, you're better off just sticking to the original series. All of the other Macross series and movies are pretty bleh anyway.

Although I've been meaning to watch the movie version of Macross Plus.

The movie version? I saw the 4-part OVA on SciFi's Ani-Monday, but I had no idea there was a movie of it.

Yeah, got made back in 1995. It's 115 minutes long and has a fair bit of new animation.

Getter Robo is a profound statement about the post-WWII study of nuclear energy and how it can be harnessed to either save or end humanity.

Gundam ZZ is a depthy and compelling analysis of the ethics of cloning and child soldiers. It also provides some insightful commentary on mental illness and suicide.

I tried watching ZZ....ugh, Yazan needs to violate more, and kill Judau, because he really fucking sucks.

Also, watching Kamille all comatose makes me sad.

It took me more than 6 months from when I bought it, but I finally got around to watching War in the Pocket.

And now I really want to watch more Gundam.

Funnily enough, a guy I hung out with in high school messaged me as soon as I put "moar gundam plox" in my screenname on MSN, and just started talking to me.

He's how I heard about Gundam. :P

Well, have you watched other anime before? Personal favourite funnies would be Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (some of the jokes are lost to non-Japanese), Ouran Highschool Host Club (Surgeon General Warning: May cause testosterone deficiency, diabeetes, the gay) and Excel Saga.

Yeah I've seen quite a few, I'll try and remember a few, since it was a while ago when I stopped watching because of work and having to watch a tonne of films for Film Studies classes

But here we go:

Bleach
One Piece
Ouran High School Host Club
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
School Days
I"S Pure
Gundam Seed + Destiny
Ichigo 100%
Full Metal Alchemist
His + Her Circumstances
Elfen Lied
SaiKano
Yakitate Japan
Air
Cowboy Bebop

And all the Studio Ghibli films.

That's pretty much all I remember, although I'm pretty sure I've seen some more.

Well, Bo-Bo-Bo if you like stoner humor. Hey, quick poll. What percent of the income he gets from that manga do you think he spends on weed?

Bobobobo is not a stoner show.

If you want a show perfect for stoners, watch the Azumanga sub.

I don't see anything too wrong with these two shows.

I mean, The Melancholy takes a while to get going, and Air is tonally quite bizarre, but I do not feel that they need to be lumped in with the likes of Elfin Lied or Bleach or whatever in any backhanded compliments.

Just because they aren't as shit as Elfen Lied does not mean they are deserving of a seperate pithy comment for merely mediocre shows as opposed to horrible ones.
