Well then...top five favorite anime, I believe this is needed.

The order they're in is not indicative of preference, if I make a list it has to be in a certain order. Shortest names at the top with largest at the bottom. I don't know why, I just can't stand doing it any other way.

I'm currently watching Welcome to the NHK. It seems to be 25% drama 25% comedy 50% angst, and kind of depressing, especially the episodes concerning Internet suicide, but otherwise really good. I've ordered the original novel off of amazon.com.

Stuff on my anime-to-watch list include Devil May Cry, Paranoia Agent, Higurashi, and probably Elfen Lied. The first time I watched part of it the violence and gore almost made me sick, so I'm not too sure I'll be able to get over that and enjoy it.

I also wouldn't mind if some of you more experienced fans had any recommendations.

Same, I only own volume 1 of the anime and the novel(Which I also bought off of Amazon). The series is great and I seriously need to continue it. I was reading a bit of the novel a while ago but fell asleep.

I heard there were some elements to the story that were left out when the book was made into a manga and anime. Hopefully the novel will be a good read.

I suggest animes like Samurai 7, Samurai Champloo, Berserk, Great Teacher Onizuka etc. If you're interested in mecha than go for Gundam 0079, Zeta, The 8th Ms team and War in the pocket.

Samurai Champloo is awesome. Mugen kicks so much ass. As for mecha I've never really been into it, though the genre has plenty of merit.

About the whole pick a character to represent you in the club thing, is there a list of taken characters? I'm curious.

"Play" is a bit of a strong word for what you do with a visual novel.

"Read and make a choice every ten or twenty minutes" would be more accurate.
