I finished watching Akagi.
Well, it was great. The second season centered too much around the battle with Washizu Iwao in my opinion, but the episodes in the beginning and in the end were good. I didn´t even watch the middle episodes completely. No complaints about the first season.
I might start watching Kaiji now, is it any good?

Kaiji is around ten thousand times better than Akagi.

That's not necessary, though. One requirement for membership is to list you top 5 favourite anime series or movies. There are no wrong awnsers, but if you list certain shows, there are clubs for them.

Feel free to discuss anything anime related in here

But yeah.

Nausiica The Valley Of The Wind is hitting theatres over here, not sure if the one in my town (yes, this is a one cinema town, pity me. There were two others, but one went bankrupt and the other was bought out by the surviving one) will be showing it. If they do, I'm so going.

I need some advice. Do you think I should apply for a job at the anime store that's literally on the other side of town? I can't keep up much longer at my current job, and at this point I probably wouldn't mind a 50-mile round trip to do something I love.

You think it'd be a steady job? That's what I'd look at first; you think the store has enough business to stay standing and keep the paychecks coming. If the awnser is yes, then sure.

I saw Nausicaa in the biggest cinema in my city (my city has a pretty large amount of cinemas for its size), during the NZ film festival a while ago.

I've been pretty lucky with anime films during that over the years.

I think I saw Totoro that year as well.

Good films.

Won´t it be dubbed in Finnish like all the other Anime movies shown here? Like Totoro which they were playing a while ago, i saw it as a kid with finnish subs and a Japanese dub, then they showed it dubbed in Finnish and it sounded like shit. I hate how they only have little kids in mind, they should learn how to read.

Yeah, I'll have to see about that first. At least Totoro was released with subs on DVD.

I'm sure another season would be an overload of Kaiji.

I was already sick of it by the end of the first season.

OH GOD WHY DIDN'T THAT SEASON END IN A LOGICAL WAY.

Kaiji was impulsive and it bit him in the ass.

Not all that illogical.

The only part about it that makes it a particularly illogical ending is it will take season two a year to follow it up with no indication of what happens next, if they'd even just segued slightly into the following story arc, it would have worked a lot better.

But hey, at least it's not Akagi. That ended on a really awkward cliffhanger and it's been close to four years since it ended with no season two anywhere in site. Although I'd blame that more on Nobuyuki Fukumoto, because the manga is STILL STUCK in the same story the anime ended with, so they'll probably have to timeskip to Ten in order to make a decent second season.

How did Akagi end in a cliffhanger?

The end of episode 26 is the beginning of Akagi and Washizu's rematch, which is still on-going in the manga.

But they make the conclusion of the match clear at the end of the episode, altough they don´t show the match itself.

By "a logical way" I mean "a way that doesn't make me dislike the main character."

I liked the character because he was always fighting to get out of the gutter; as soon as he started getting greedy, I started disliking the character, and the series got boring.

Thus I find it illogical to end on a way that makes me dislike the character.

In any case, I probably won't watch the second season.

So? That's just a half-assed taunt.

The manga doesn't do that, it just keeps on rolling.

I think it's pretty obvious Akagi was going to win anyway, because he always does, but it's how he wins that makes the show exciting.

A friend of mine caught a few episodes and said he didn't enjoy it.

But hey, he doesn't watch much anime.

I myself haven't seen it, just was one of those shows that never really caught my interest.

I'm currently getting through Ergo Proxy at the moment.
