You could always just pick your favourite anime character and put '_____ of the Anime Club' in your signature, like so many others.

I'm Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV in that regard.

So I found Lupin III--Albatross, Wings of Death on VHS in this used video store. For $3.

Hooray!

And picked up more manga today. Place I went to was charging $67.99 for first semester of GTO.

FUCK YOU, GOLDEN AGE.

Since it was a Saturday, i thought there would be a shit-storm of little kids, guess i was wrong, thanks for suggesting akagi, it really kicks ass.

I feel fantastic, and I never felt as good as how I do right now except for maybe when I think of how I felt that day when I felt the way that I do right now.

I decided to watch Nadia: The secret of Blue Water again (subtitled) because I remember that I watched it years ago and never got to finish it properly.

What I didn't like was the Island and the Africa episodes, fillers, except for a very few scenes.
They had relayed the animation to another studio instead of Gainax, so they could focus on the main story. Weak excuse and a very bad move.

Nonetheless, it was good, brought nostalgic thoughts on.
But the difference was that I had seen it in german then, so I watched it in in that language too.

While the germans voice actors are very good at, well, voice acting it does get rather monotonous after a while, seeing that the mid-aged male voices sound rather alike.

Enough of that though, I've read that they released a movie of Nadia.

According to 80% of critics it is an utter waste of time. Too many reused scenes from the series and too many cardboard cutouts. Supposedly very clichéd.

<SPOILERS SPOILERS SCROLL DOWN>

But the main problem is that it has a complete different setup than the ending of the series gives, one of the biggest being that Jean and Nadia have moved apart and that the Grandis Gang even attacks them later on even though they established a friendship in the series. Even two main characters are written out, Marie and King.
That's probably because the production team was not the original one.

<END OF SPOILERS END OF SPOILERS>

Having read all the negative sides about it though I'm still going to watch it, just because.
And I want my own opinion on it. Hope it doesn't turn out to be the predicted shitstorm.

Bought moar manga (moar Golgo 13, now I only missing 10, Nana, Maison Ikkoku, and Berserk), and found (to my dad's happiness) volume 3 of Black Lagoon and War in the Pocket, on Mendou's recommendation.

So now I got like, 11 volumes of manga to chug through, as well as my library book I have to finish in 4 days (200/600 pages, yay!), as well as finishing off Sailor Moon R, as well as the other Lupin movies, as well as Black Jack OVAs, as well as Black Lagoon and Berserk.

*head asplodes*

And I'm thinking about applying to the anime/manga store because they're hiring, and I can demand to get my Black Jack DVDs.

And uh, bitchslap those who buy unacceptable anime. >_>

I finally got myself the Cowboy Bebop complete series box set. And I got a copy of Tekkon Kinkreet.

I've been forgetting about GTO lately. It's been a while since I watched an episode.

What up peeps? I want to learn more about Anime since I am in Japan and getting into the business of exporting Japanese goods. On Sunday my family and I were roaming the city in search for a store that sold unique Japanese items and had the pleasant surprise to find a store that sells every single imaginable manga, anime, and Japanese collectibles imaginable at bargain prices...I got lost in so much Japaneseness...lol. So I want to start getting informed on what is hot out there. When I was younger I enjoyed the occasional anime series but was never that much of a fanatic, even though I still do not find every single Japanese animated series interesting, I do want to embrace its uniqueness.
If you feel compelled to help on this new found interest let me know, I will be extremely happy to listen to your advice.
Hope to hear from someone soon!

I watched more Berserk with my dad, we laughed more when he was like "GOD HOW DID YOU BECOME SUCH A PERVERT?" after many jokes shared between each other.

Like Casca and her woman problems. lolololol.

I'm still being slow for Sailor Moon--no progress there, and I'll be able to start again on manga since I'm almost done my behemoth of a book.

ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH!

Anyway, a question, is there any other anime that has a cool jazz-based soundtrack like Cowboy Bebop?

Metropolis has a reasonably jazzy score, but I cannot think of any TV series with that kind of music.

Try Kemonozume. I seem to recall some jazzy tunes in there, plus it's just a great show.

Well, I just recently found the DVDs I had for Samurai Champloo, and I've been watching them mostly these mornings, with my mom in and out, looking incredulously at certain points.

"Jesus, they really fail at protecting her. Can you tell me about an episode where she doesn't get kidnapped, and gets Stockholm Syndrome?"

I was a HUEG fan before, and I still like it, but it still feels a tad contrived in parts.
And I hate squirrels. Even if they do the same thing Tazers would do today: Get people to fuck off.

Bah. Flying thing with a Bushy tail.

Oh, also going to get the first Season Boxset of Black Lagoon for my birthday, so I'm looking forward to that.
Whee, gonna see Burn Before Reading, get a tattoo, and watch a batshit insane gal shoot a lot of shit.

If only I could drink at 18, that would be a complete rite of passage into a man.

Ah well.

Both.

Though in all honesty, if you can't have both, you'd be a little better off with GTO.
More funniness, and is actually inspiring in parts.

Champloo just feels like a weaker Cowboy Bebop.
It's still enjoyable, but it's...just a bit lacking.
