The problem with the movie is that it lacks the great pacing of the series.
The story of the movie feels like it could be covered in an episode of Cowboy Bebop, or maybe a double episode.
However, it was still a good film with some great action scenes.
And it did contain one of my favourite songs from Cowboy Bebop, "Gotta Knock a Little Harder".

The creator was too clever for his own good. He tried to show people everyhting that's wrong with stories like it, but people just ate it up. I heard he had a nervous breakdown after hearing how people fetishized Rei.
Anyway, if I had to pick the The THE Greatest Anime Series Ever, at this moment, I'd be inclined to say Cowboy Bebop, though it's not without its flaws (mainly, the art is just a bit outdated).
Anyway, been watching Ouran. My fellow friend, who's also a Newgro and a /b/tard remarked, that the show is "a bit gay".
