Paranoia Agent seems to be the shortest of them.

Shorter than the movies?

Paranoia Agent and Paprika are both excellent (I have an inherent love for everything Kon).

I've heard some bad things about Tales from Earthsea, and a couple of decent reviews from people I know about it.

I don't know too much about Gilgamesh, but it doesn't look great.

The difference between the manga and anime of Makai Senki Disgaea is just shit.

What's the point when it's just the same jokes as are in the game?

I plan on seeing Tokyo Godfathers sometime relatively soon.

It's the truth here.

Every fucking mainstream critic puts it on the best anime lists (usually in the top five).

It's well-worth seeing, got some real buzz at Cannes a few years ago.

pshh. says you.

I think it deserves most of its praise. Maybe not a top 5 list, though.

Speaking of mainstream critics and misjudging anime, I saw on Rotten Tomatoes (which I usually find helpful) that Perfect Blue had a rather low "tomatometer" rating. I demand justice.

Why should I care if somebody likes something more than I do?

The visual bliss was really the only thing the second one had going for it.

It was so ridiculously hard to follow.

Rotten Tomatoes isn't a good site for judging how good a movie will be.

It has both good reviewers, and terrible reviewers counting into the final score of a movie.

I thought Perfect Blue was great.

Shorter than the movies?

Hm, I'll retract that comment of mine and restate that it would appear to be longer than the movies due to its runtime of 316 minutes.

Paranoia Agent and Paprika are both excellent

Haven't seen Paranoia Agent yet but I agree with Paprika.
I just watched it.
Intense and fittingly animated.

(I have an inherent love for everything Kon).

I have yet to see Tokyo Godfathers.

I've heard some bad things about Tales from Earthsea, and a couple of decent reviews from people I know about it.

Sounds like a love/hate it anime.
At least I'll read more up about it.

I don't know too much about Gilgamesh, but it doesn't look great.

The Box set told me a different story, but I don't judge by the shell.

The difference between the manga and anime of Makai Senki Disgaea is just shit.
What's the point when it's just the same jokes as are in the game?

Yeah, the jokes are the same, but I meant the endings.
The manga portrayed the good ending while the anime showed the bad ending of the game.

It's a visual feast.

Tokyo Godfathers was a good film, but was the most down-to-Earth of all of Kon's works.

It's a film about the Japanese class struggles, so it's interesting.

Sounds like a love/hate it anime.
At least I'll read more up about it.

It seems more of like/hate it movie.

Yeah, the jokes are the same, but I meant the endings.
The manga portrayed the good ending while the anime showed the bad ending of the game.

I saw both of the endings. You know... By playing the game.

It's lucky that I didn't have any ally kills throughout the game on my first playthrough, so I didn't have to replay the game to get those endings.

I did the bad endings for Etna and Flonne by playing through half the game again, though. Didn't bother doing all the ridiculous training required to get the endings you get by killing that alternate overlord.

Good game. The anime was pretty bad.

It took me about 30 seconds on Google to find out that it's coming out on May 6 in the US (this being the 29th volume).

I suggest you learn how to do it yourself.

By the way, there's a Naruto club for you to ask these sorts of questions in. We don't like your kind here.

Haha, Elitism.

Yeah, it's fun, but it's just that I'm not in the place to be an elitist about these things. I can be an elitist about music, because I own a tentacle high stack of CD's and have several gigabytes of music on my computer, and have listened to a wide variety of genres and bands and read on the history, and therefore know shit.

Anime? I've seen a few series on the TV (none of them 100%), some movies and a handfull of series I picked on random recomendations, and though I know (and understand) terms like Shonen, Shoujo, Seinen, Tsundere, Yandere, Moe etc. I'm far from an animeexpert.jpg

Pic related.

Just finished Black Lagoon, and I have to say, the last arc sucked. It was way too long and it had an ending you could see coming a mile away. The only thing is did right was showing that Hotel Moscow doesn't fuck around. I think that the arc MAY be setting up a time where Lagoon company and Hotel Moscow are gonna have to bust heads.

Response to Anime Club 2008-04-26 23:44:23

Well, I just finished Hokuto No Ken 2. It wasn't as great as the origninal, less fillers though. The ending was still epic, and it tied up all the loose ends. A very good series, and has many cool characters. Watch it if you get the chance.

I just finished watching Cowboy Bebop (unless there are more than the 20 odd episodes which always happens to me) I did eat my own words as it was very good. I came in on the 5th episode on that chapel fight thing and it was good so I continued, the order got even more screwed up and I watched a few of them and the last ones then went back and filled in the gaps. Thank God for channels constantly repeating the same programs.

Yay did see them all, I thought it was the end but you know how with shows when it is at a clear end they make another series. Good to see they don't do it and keep it good here.
