Happy Anniversary Anime Club! It's been a full 5 years since the thread was started on 3/21/03, and somehow we made it through in one piece (no pun intended). May the next five be smoother sailing.

The first time I joined was around the end of '05, I believe, or at least the latter half, so this doesn't concern me fully.

But nonetheless, let us join in on the celebrations!

Well, I joined like a year ago, but it is pretty cool that the thread's been around for five years. May our motley crew of misfits live on for five more!

Well, I always thought that you and Gendo were the "de facto" leaders. Anythings better then the faggotry of the guy who made the club.

Figured I'd stop by for the club's 5th anniversary (which I unintentionally coincided with the start of the Iraq War).

If you want me to give a speech in recognition of this club's longevity, size, and success, just give me the word. Either way, I'm extremely proud of you all for transforming my club into a flourishing community on the NG BBS.

Also for some reason, I feel this is appropriate.

AND THAT PICTURE IS OVERUSED, AND CAME OUT AT A TIME WHEN INUYASHA FANBOYS RULED THE LAND. NEEDS MORE DIO BRANDO!

Also hi there. I'm happy that we're at 5 years. Here's for five more; when we will all likely leave newgrounds forever.

Still the Inuyasha type of guy?

Yup. I'm still scanlating Inuyasha. The final battle is under way and Naraku just finally absorbed the Shikon Jewel.

I'm actually the best artist ever, and my work is in a bunch of galleries everywhere.

Unfortunately I live in a place where cameras and scanners are banned, so there's no evidence of that for you.

I heard Maison Ikkosu had a good ending. Also, calling Rumiko Takahashi a bitch results in death. Because Gendo is a whore for her works... except Inuyasha.

GTFO, no one calls Rumiko a bitch while I'm around. Although most of her mangas have mediocre endings at best, the mangas themselves are amazing. The only thing I don't like her for is Inu-yasha.

And yes, Ikkoku has a good ending (albeit a totally fucking obvious one).

The only reason you guys liked Inuyasha all those years ago is because she deceived you into thinking it was full of quality. YOU BITCH! I TRUSTED YOU!

Welcome to Paranoia.

Welcome to awesome and failure.

I liked Welcome to the N.H.K.

Except for the ending. Blah.

Really, with an ending like that you´d think there´d be a second season. Although, I have no Idea if the Manga is longer, story-wise, than the Anime.

I wanted some full-ending, concluding end to the story.
Maybe it is concluding to you, but not to me.
Annoying, I hate open ends.

uhnoesanoob said not to call her a bitch
Well i liked it cause i thought the show was going some where. Every time they got close to killing the spider demon guy i thought "HOLY SHIT THIS IS IT!" but it ended in our baboon is in another castle.

Inu-Yasha is the anti Ranma, by all accounts. Instead of a variety of antagonists, they just have one. Instead of a slow, well developed relationship between the protaganist and his love interest, they have one that is quick and unrealistic. The fights are predictable and drawn out, the emo-ness of the characters is laughable. And the characters are cheap ripoffs of Ranma characters. Koga....Inu-yasha's rival who falls in love with Kagome...gee...where have I seen that before? I really wish that instead of Inu-yasha, she would made more Ranma volumes...or at least a series appealing to those above the age of 12. But then again, it made her loads of cash, so I can't blame her anymore then I can blame kishimoto.

The manga is a tad different, but the original novel is even moreso.

Since it's got a fairly definite ending, and isn't actually funny.

Nice time machine, now it's 1994 again.

No, haven't gotten around to getting those yet.

Kikyo is like an evil, undead Ukyo/Shampoo fusion, that short dude looks fucking indentical to Happosai (and has the same VA in the dub), there are a shitload of repeated character designs, etc.

I really wish that instead of Inu-yasha, she would made more Ranma volumes...

Every time I look back at Ranma, the flaws become more and more apparent.

The anime doesn't know how to handle half the characters (LET'S JUST SUCK THE EMOTIONAL DEPTH FROM EVERYONE AND TURN THEM INTO CARTOONY STEREOTYPES) and the manga has a downright gutpunch of an ending.

WHY CAN'T YOU LET US HAVE A SATISFYING CONCLUSION?! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!

Akane in the anime is just a letdown. Super violent with none of the redeeming qualities.
The only thing the anime got right is giving Ranma red hair. Also, the ending blowed more then the manga ending. I hope Viz gets a clue and makes an extension to the Ranma anime.

WHY CAN'T YOU LET US HAVE A SATISFYING CONCLUSION?! WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!

Because Rumiko Takahashi secretly likes really bad fanfics that rape the plot of Ranma?

Funny you should say that.
Their budget seems to have diminished at that point.

I've found that one of the biggest flaws of the show was that when it decided to forgo any plot development, it just wasn't that funny.

It was also too long.
