And yes; I have become more craving for Hard Science/Military than simply Mecha.
Well it's about bloody time. :D

I only got that impression after seeing the first VOTOMS.
What's there to not like about an actually lethal and down-to-earth main character?

Make no mistake though; I'm still a mecha fan, but some old more military-based stores have made me take a good look at them.

VOTOMS Pailsen Files seem off to a nice four episodes released out of the twelve planned episodes so far.

I used to buy the odd action figure now and then, but I currently own...

12 1/8 scale statues
1 1/6 scale figure
Around 20 non-scale figures
Countless Gundam-related toys of all manners
About five shirts (including the Hokuto no Ken one I'm wearing now)
A more than hefty pile of various formats of manga (tankobon, kazenban, monthly anthologies, old comic book-size monthlies)

All of this purchased mostly within the past six or so months.

I am the king of buying something, watching two episodes and then forgetting about it.

Very little. if anything.

I tend to speak about what I'm good and most familiar with.
You cannot consider a fan of City Hunter, You're Under Arrest, anything by Azuma and Futari H a Mecha-tard.

But meh, I am who I am.

Excellent.

Oh, and don't get too alienated with the CG, it works surprisingly well with the grittiness of the battle settings.

Well, literally speaking, you could given you seem to like an overwhelming amount of /m/ in comparison to those series, but whatevs.

Yotsuba&! is like the fucking awesomest thing ever, by the way (not that my near-complete figure collection would suggest I'm a total whore for the series or anything, just need Miura/Danboard and I'm done).

Only because there is much more technical knowledge in a mecha series than any other category, maybe with the exception of Science-Fiction.

I bought Revoltech Yotsuba for myself over Christmas through HLJ. It's worth every Yen I spent.

After starting to watch more recent animu, I've become used to CG.

It has certainly improved from five years ago.

If you have a chance to see Aquarion or Macross F, I guarantee its beauty for the studio that did it is doing the CG work at a grand scale.

Nah, /m/ beats even the deepest sci-fi.

Most of it lacks serious technical info, most stuff is just superficial gibberish.

Our very own Kuro is a pretty big fan of the show, and from what I've seen, it is indeed quite impressive.

Bloody brilliant.

Though it dips around the middle of the series with some odd plot points introduced, and has a bit of a subpar ending, it's still one of the best animes I've seen.

The story itself is uniquely told and it is certainly not your typical storyline.

But for a 26 episode series, I can't but help that it was not worth my time after finding out how much buildup occured right at the end only to waste the last episode with an unfitting end which doesn't resolve one of the major plots well enough.

The show and story itself was not bad, but I would have preferred to read it as a book instead.

The whole setting felt too... soft.
And from a HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) Scientist's perspective, I would say that the job of animating the story did little to help bring out the best in it.

Though with my statement, I have pretty much shunned all non-fan-service-based shows.
But in my defense; I consider awesome fight scenes, awesome plot twists and combining giant robots a form of fan-service.

Not enough shows have truly impressive endins these days.

Even if the ending and story itself was obvious beyond all belief, I would have still enjoyed something that makes me go "Hold on, rewind a little and play that scene again FTW". Or simply put; positively memorable scenes or events in a series that makes it worth keeping a copy with me where-ever I go.

And because everybody loves Lego:

THIS is what happens when Uncle Go and Hideaki Anno combine powers to create a 3 episode OVA (40 minutes each). Re: Cutey Honey, an OVA adaptation of the Live Action Series which is in turn adapted from the original Cutey Honey comics by Go Nagai back in the 1970s.

A country I don't live in.

So that has zero bearing on me.

Do remember original air dates lack relevance whatsoever to international audiences.

Unless it was not an aired release, Original Air Date still exists no matter how you look at it with the exception that you were talking in terms relative to your personal experience.

Then that's just miscommunication due to different choice of syntax.

I need more Cutey Honey in my diet.

Not sure about the TV release that screams SAILORMOON though. It's going to be great, that far I know but would it be like watching a Go Nagai show or a Maho-Shojo/Kaito series aimed at a much younger audience?

Yes, but original air date is invalidated by lack of availability in the case of something like this due to the fact the only place it aired in 2006 was Japan.

One does not consider something the best of a year where it was totally unavailable to them, localized release dates count more in regards to licensed versions.

Says you.
It is not impossible nor unreasonable to determine one's 'favorites based on year' according to official year of release, while others consider it based on their availability in their local region or relative to their own personal time of exposure for reasons that I can list out forever.

So let's make this clear.
I made my statement with the impression that your syntax of 'Favorite of <year>' meant the year of release and not the other two possibilities.
Now I ask you: What did you mean?

He's not exactly TV-friendly.

That's pretty much why stuff made directly under his air of command is released in the form of OVAs.

Not that I mind. It just means that characters can be portrayed in their full badassness with no punches pulled to maximise the amount of Win radiating from it.

And the way I see it the second barrage is either;

A.) Some sort of spin off show.
or
B.) Like a second season to black lagoon.

If the second barrage is B then I would like to wait for it too come into stock as well so i'm not dying too know what happens. (Story cliff hanger between season 1 and 2.)

I figured that was pretty obvious, given I tend to watch dubs and buy Region 1 DVDs.

No offense, but the semantics-filled rambling was sort of unwarranted here when I believe it's fairly clear what I meant, especially since I mentioned by love of the series in reference to someone asking if the DVDs were worth buying.
