Silly Commies and their many historical bungles.

I just want to break their spirit, causing them to move on to drugs, eventually causing them to have a mental breakdown, and I will eventually gain cheap labour in my fields, farming the drugs which they were previously taking.

Hmmm, that's a damn fine plan you've got going there.

Not nescarrily. Take newgrounds hentai section for example, that section is filled with hentai but I doubt a lot if any of it were made by the japaneese.

Besides I may be wrong but I think that there isn't magazines in japan equiilvent to american playboys in anime form, they would have real girls not animated ones.

The majority of hentai is made by horney fanboys. There are several hentai manga and anime series' though, but it isn't just nude pictures of anime chicks and guys they usually have a plot not just random nude pics.

They shove in some regular jokes at some point in the series.

2. Long, dull conversations that go nowhere

Some of the conversation is somewhat interesting, but it does tone down conversations like those silly food ones in the first episode after a short while.

3. Reliance on Haruhi-related jokes

That I'd disagree with.

There's only a couple of openly Haruhi related jokes, the rest are just random references.

They basically just throw in Haruhi references, which gets irritating, but it doesn't get reliant on them.

4. Inspired like a million horrid memes that only now have finally lost popularity

I must have missed those ones.

5. Konata annoys the fuck out of me

I like her character.

I can understand you not caring for the series, but I don't know how that turns into hate, and into loving everyone else who hates it.

Well it has good animation, that's about the only thing moving it towards masterpiece (which it's not even near).

Otherwise I just find it an enjoyable series.

I found that much really odd.

Considering the nature of the show (you know, long boring conversations with no point, and nothing else), you'd've thought that they'd take the easy way out and just use as little animation as possible.

Yeah, it was a pretty odd move on Kyoto Animation's behalf....

Also, just endured the first episode of Death Note dubbed, and I must say....

GOD-FUCKING-DAMMIT, OCEAN GROUP!

Ocean Group has some great voice actors working for them, but seem to provide better results with shows that are genuinely awesome to begin with (Black Lagoon) than so-so stuff (Inuyasha). Not only that, they seem to re-use the same few actors for major roles in everything they dub (Brad Swaile and Brian Drummond stand out the most).

Drummond and Swaile do not do justice to the amazing original actors, and just come off as more menacing versions of Black Lagoon's Benny and Ranma 1/2's Mousse.

I have also been reminded of how much I disliked the first ending theme.

The first opening was tolerable but not particularly good.

The second one was good, but completely ill fitting of the show (Death metal in a television series centered mostly on long introspective monologues with little animation and/or writing sequences?).

I cannot recall the second ending theme, but it was also likely an underwhelming song.

Speaking of underwhelming, I just finished La Blue Girl Returns.

ARGH, GODAMMIT, WHY?! Why was amazing animation and shockingly good voice acting (by hentai standards, and I'm talking about the Japanese vocal track here) wasted on this? The first two episodes were so promising (decent enough story, some humour, incredibly erotic), but the second half just fucking dies in a sea of long dialogue-heavy scenes and totally uninteresting sex scenes.

The ending was even worse, who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to end a series in a franchise known for its humour with one of those "NO ONE WINS" downer endings? It was jarring, horribly inappropriate and far from emotionallly resonant.

Verdict: 6/10, thanks for getting my fucking hopes up, Green Bunny, your other series and the deceptively great first arc lied to me. I was hoping for some lulzy porn, and I got some painfully melodramatic romance story with tentacles and loads of techo-geek computer jargon (I shit you not).

Japanese vocal track?

But the ridiculous English voices were largely what made the series funny in the first place.

"When she climaxes her reconstructed VAGINA REGION will devour Seikima's manhood" remains one of the most memorable lines in animation history.

Yes, but I was in no mood to hear endless waves of technobabble in poorly acted English.

La Blue Girl Returns hardly contains any funny dialogue, anyway.

Damn straight.

Now on to finishing the other two series (the original and Lady Blue), which thus far have not let me down in the sex and laughs departments.

Death Note's OP and EDs rock my fucking dick off. Nightmare [1st OP & ED] and MAXIMUM THE HORMONE [2nd OP & ED] are great. The mellowness of the first two suits the first half of the series whilst the second OP and ED suits the chaotic nature of the second half.

TLDR; Death Note's OP and EDs > dog shit being thrown at the drive thru windows at work tonight > your dislike and bad taste in OP and EDs

Me? A hypocrite?

Never. Not like I'm loaded with annoying double-standards or anything.

Finished off La Blue Girl and Lady Blue, significantly less awful than La Blue Girl Returns was.

The original series is truly lives up to its notoriety, since it's the dirtiest and absolutley weirdest of them all. Not to mention the side-splitting funny dialogue (particularly in the last episode).

Lady Blue starts off well enough (great animation, an actual attempt at a serious story that works on some level), but it ends up being sad foreshadowing for what is to come in La Blue Girl Returns (the serious story ends up draining all the fun from the last two episodes, with the exception of a downright hilarious scene in the third one). Luckily, this one still has some interesting stuff going on, as well as well-directed action scenes and a happy (if somewhat vague) ending.
