Currently watching Black Jack 21 and Video Girl Ai.

Goddamn, I clearly know how to pick 'em, because they're both pieces of sheer genius.

Once I finish these off, I should get off my ass and buy the final Black Jack: Clinical Chart boxset.

Black Jack (the Clinical Chart OVAs as well as Osamu Dezaki's film version)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (the 1993 series, not the horrid prequel OVAs)
Souten no Ken

If you want to see one of the few examples of the men of men in action, I would recommend no other than this title:

City Hunter

Oh, quite fine.

A few problems with spammers and the odd new kid, but otherwise just the same old stuff.

Not yet, old friend.

Would it be a safe statement to say that activity slowed down in between the timeskip?

From time to time, but it's been fairly active in the past few months.

Also, just finished Lupin III: The Return of the Magician. Trippy as fuck with some awkward CGI. A great deal unlike the TV series or pretty much any other incarnation of Lupin.

But the awesome-factor of weirdness (loaded with tidbits of Greek history and mythology) and the presence of Pycal make it a solid 8.

I meant in relative terms compared to a year ago, of course.

Somehow, I am reminded more and more of classic James Bond openings when I hear about trippy or awkward CGI or primitive 'special' effects.

Then and again, this is Lupin of all characters/series in discussion.

I myself have just been watching KoJiKan after Tengen Toppa has ended with a massive orgy of win and awesome in my head not even a month ago.

Well, do whatever you must since it's a moot point to convey every single thought here of all places.

Well, that'll pretty much conclude my visit.
It's goodbye for another few months or otherwise.

I quite like the slower pace.

Gives me more time to do things outside the internets.

Well, do whatever you must since it's a moot point to convey every single thought here of all places.

And the last thing this club needs is more of my angry ranting.

Oh well, might as well get this off my chest before I expode.

KoJikan = unwatchable paedobait

The OVA had its moments humour-wise, but left me with an extremely bad taste in my mouth.

The super-censored TV animation deserves its fate, because the content being censored is morally reprehensible in every way imaginable. It's just not the kind of stuff that belongs on television.

As I'm sure you know, I am not big on political correctness (not to mention I'm a bit of a loli fan), but this one just pushed it too far IMHO. A line needs to be drawn somewhere.

Well, that'll pretty much conclude my visit.

Well, good to see you're still alive.

Until the next time.

Next on the anime viewing docket: Hokuto no Ken (1986 theatrical version)

Oh Hells yeah.

If only I could get around to watching the various bits of Macross, Ranma and Slayers I have yet to finish despite having owned them for a while now...

Man, don't give me any ideas.

I still don't get how you can be bored when you have a whole season of Slayers, Orange road and the Ranma OVA's to watch.

You're also forgetting Robotech: The Macross Saga (got like six more episodes to go), Macross (the new dub, two to go on that one), like half of GitS: S.A.C. (which is steadily approaching its first anniversary of life on my shelf), sixteen episodes of Black Jack 21, a few DVDs of Detective Conan, 5 episodes of Video Girl Ai, City Hunter: The Motion Picture, all of Teito Monogatari, a random old Dirty Pair OVA.

And that's not counting the various H series I have yet to finish.

Not to further rub it in, but the stuff I mentioned before is only stuff I haven't watched that I own.

On top of that, I need to buy the rest of like a billion series (Lupin III Part II, Kashimashi, Haruhi, Ranma, Black Jack, Urusei Yatsura) and I'm also watching Azumanga Daioh and Scrapped Princess with the rest of NS /A/.

Fortunately there are no unopened DVDs at the moment, but there are plenty that haven't been watched in years, have only been watched once or have never been watched at all.

Oh lord, good luck with UY, Lupin

What's worse is it will probably be easier to finish UY.

Lupin is now out of print and pricy, while UY is widely available and cheap.

and the massive amounts of Black Jack OVA's.

LOLwut?

I'm talking about Dezaki's Clinical Chart OVAs. I have six out of ten for that one already.

To my mind, that's the only OVA series as well (I recall the rest of the non-TV series stuff being specials and/or theatrical movies).

Shit, looks like i'll have to start focusing on Lupin more.

Protip: Cruise bargain bins and eBay.

Geneon's marketing failure and subsequent discontinuation of their older, less popular series = fire sale waiting to happen.

My bad.

I was correct, too.

10 OVAs, 12 ONAs (adapted straight from the manga, meaning that most of the stories had already seen airtime on TV), four theatrical films (three feature-length, one short), two TV series, a four-part "teaser series" of specials (aired before the first TV series in order to build interest) and two manga series (the original and the Kuroi Ishii remake series).

At 10/25/07 09:25 PM, Mendou wrote: JJBA volume 1

Prepare for mediocrity....

The first four volumes of JJBA are the prequel series, which is loaded to the brim with poorly flowing animation, ugly character designs (particularly Kakyoin and Jotaro), poor dubbing and horrific misinterpretations of the manga's story.

You'd have been better off starting at volume five (the beginning of the 1993 series, covering "The Fool" Iggy and "GEB" N'Doul to Dio's World), which despite a somewhat dated art style and colour scheme (same character designer as Hokuto no Ken means Jotaro = Kenshiro with a hat, not to mention Dio looks like some kind of DBZ villain) is nothing short of amazing.

Also, watched the Hokuto no Ken film last night, sheerly amazing stuff.

Beardy vagabond Kenshiro looked like a complete badass, and Heart-sama gets one Hell of an awesome cameo.

I don't want to make them kill themselves.

I just want to break their spirit, causing them to move on to drugs, eventually causing them to have a mental breakdown, and I will eventually gain cheap labour in my fields, farming the drugs which they were previously taking.
