Because you're a big mean-head.

And because that was terrible.

Okay?

Black Lagoon, Hikaru no Go, Afro Samurai, and Outlaw Star. I'm not very familiar with many Anime series. This is what I like at the moment.

Honestly, I juts got into Anime like not even a few weeks ago. So, I'm really not familiar with too many series to dislike any of them.

Reading Mangas. I used to read Shonen Jump a lot when I was younger.

I watched all of Death Note. That was a great show overall even though it had a few weak moments (such as Misa's annoying voice and some stupid typical anime humor). My favorite part of the series was from the beginning up until Light joins the investigation.

SPOILERS
It was interesting how L came to suspect Light through clever detective work.
END SPOILERS

Also, a couple of unintentionally funny moments made me chuckle, such as a scene involving potato chips and a scene where L is eating a banana (the look on L's face is funny and avatar worthy).

SPOILERS
However, I thought Near was unworthy of being the one to take down Light. He just wasn't a good enough character, in my opinion. Since L couldn't do it, it felt wrong that Near could.
END SPOILERS

Anyway, it was quite a clever show. I loved how the whole thing involved a battle of the wits, seeing the plots the characters come up with, the conclusions they are able to make as to what is happening, and how they figure out what the other must be thinking.

I also watched all of the Mad Bull 34 movies. silly, violent fun.

I am now watching Paranoia Agent. I hope to see Black Lagoon sometime if Netflix gets all the volumes. I also would like to see Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure, but it seems I'll have to purhcase that over the internet. I've been wanting to see it for a year or so now but still haven't. I may also watch Gilgamesh, even though I know nothing about it (Netflix "play now" feature). And Heat Guy J is on my Netflix queue right now. Doomed Megalopalis is being sent to me now, though. I think I'll also check out Claymore, Ergo Proxy, Gungrave, and Desert Punk. maybe Code Geass. I don't know anything about Noein or Ghost Hunt, but I'll look into them.

Also, I love Shin Chan very much. I wish a good region 1 DVD set would be released already.

I'd say there's a good amount of anime that is not mainstream. There's Dead Leaves, for example (which I love). Kemonozume doesn't appear to be mainstream, though I only saw the first few minutes of the first episode. Speaking of which, I just might watch that.

Also, I resent most of today's crappy popular shonen series because people seem to think that every anime ever is just like them. I recall a certain member on another website calling anime in general "childish bullshit". What's funny about that is he admitted to liking DBZ and Yu Yu Hakusho, and he himself is a childish jackass.

Fuck yes.

Mad Bull 34 needs a DVD release, now.

I am now watching Paranoia Agent.

It's still airing on TV 'round here.

I should get around to finishing it.

I hope to see Black Lagoon sometime if Netflix gets all the volumes.

If they don't have them already, chances are they'll never get them.

Distribution of the series ended due to Geneon's major business bomb and they've stopped accepting stock orders from retailers and rental businesses.

I also would like to see Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure, but it seems I'll have to purhcase that over the internet.

Jojo's is getting scarce.

Grab it while you have the chance.

Bought the whole thing on VHS, still haven't watched it.

Funimation was gonna do a season one boxset, but....

There were originally plans on releasing the series on DVD on September 18, 2007, but due to a copyright blocking from the Church of Scientology regarding a joke from one episode, has prevented that.

Thanks for recommending Boogiepop...it's really damn good, I don't know how I haven't come across it before, or even heard of it. I'm going to have to keep looking for more things that are under my radar like that little gem. It's a great story so far, though it is kind of hard to keep up with what's real and what's not, and to try and piece together what's happening....though because of Wikipedia and it's plot summaries (Usually it's a paragraph that sets the premise) I know somewhat what's going to happen. Glad that I stopped reading once I hit one spoiler. Still some questions though, and it still has that great...feel to it.

I came across it because the second episode was a special feature on the copy of Ringu that I rented.

I've only watched the first 3 or 4 episodes though (however many were on the first DVD).

I have to get myself in the mood for its really dull colours and the like, which is quite difficult.

Hey guys, I'm here with a neat project from class I feel the need to share.
So for my art class everyone had to draw a profile of a character in different styles of art.
Every student in the class had to be paired with at least 3 people. Whatever form of art we were choosen to draw could be any expression and have any type of hair. (As long as eyes and mouth are visible.)

So here's the thing, I finished drawing the rough-draw for the outline. So now I have to trace it over with a black pen and then scan it, color it, etc... The finished product should have warm colors and cool colors depending on what mood the character is in. Ya' know, that whole mess.

Anyways, me and these 2 other friends paired up and were chosen to draw a character in "modern" anime style. I would've perfered some sorta realism style, but whatever.
For my character I was influenced by Yamatogawa's anime drawing style. It looked 1337.

I'll post a comparison picture after this post.

So here's the first step, almost done. I have to do some quick editing. (Fixing the eyes, matching the hair, head size, etc... )

What do you guys thinks?

Also, the paper I'm sketching on is poster-size. Shitty webcame is shitty. Oh and ignore the little sketches on the bottom. Just some boredom.

Also, for anybody wondering - Yamatogawa is an h-artist.

Now, in comparison you realize that mine is a bit more intense looking and not as detailed.
I PLAN TO CHANGE THAT.

Is copying an already done drawing considered art?

Or just plagiarism?

I guess you can call it "fan art".

But, I plan to add different elements 'n' stuff to it once I scan it. So there will bea noticeable difference.

Jesus, what's with you?

There's a difference.

If fan art is drawing characters which artists have already made, and "copying" isn't, then exactly what is fan art?

I can see where you're going with this, you think it's plagiarism because it has certain features that are in great resemblance to the original artist's work. That would be called derivative work, but because parts of the drawing are changed and more will be changed, it's not plagiarism.

But IT IS fan art.
However, you do have some points.
So I will respectfully credit the original work's author.

You forget however,

Currently in the middle of NS /A/ meeting three.

Due to undelivered orders and a lost copy of Scrapped Princess, the only actual anime we'll likely be watching today is four episodes of Azumanga Daioh.

However, we did have a few videogame tournaments thus far (Guilty Gear, Smash Bros., Guitar Hero) and struggled to endure all of AMV Hell 4 (possibly the most unfunny thing any of us have ever viewed).

ALL AMVs FUCKING SUCK AND THEY DESERVE TO DIE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Well, I went to ABSound in hopes to find The Great Annihilator. They didn't have it, which makes me call "Jew" on the entire city of Langley for having shit selection in music. I tried looking for anime DVDs but ABSound doesn't have shit. I left, and decided to go to chapters, but not for manga (shock). I was actually looking for a real book. However, since I Am America (And So Can You) by God himself (AKA Stephen Colbert), was out of my price range, I decided to go for I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell by Tucker Max; my second choice. Not wanting any manga I bought it and left. So, sup?

You do realise that it's possible to draw an already made character in a position or situation not identical or almost identical to an already done picture that you're using as the basis of a picture, right?

That's fan art.

I can see where you're going with this, you think it's plagiarism because it has certain features that are in great resemblance to the original artist's work. That would be called derivative work, but because parts of the drawing are changed and more will be changed, it's not plagiarism.

Okay, it doesn't matter whether it's actually known as plagiarism or not.

Unless you specifically say to your teacher "I copied this picture off of this exact frame in this book", then it can be considered stealing art.

That's irrelevant. But even then, that wouldn't be called plagiarism. Because it isn't an exact copy.

I don't think you understand what the word 'plagiarism' means.
Plagiarism
Plagiarism involves using the work of another person and presenting it as one's own. Any of the following acts constitutes plagiarism unless the source of each quotation or piece of borrowed material is clearly acknowledged:
