Perhaps it's just because I'm a better user than you.

My post count proves that.

Because I'm the better user.

Everyone loves me.

No one is exempt.

Not even you.

And I don't even need to justify that.

By the way, what's with the sig?

You know, in the whole "it's the exact same as Gendo's" way.

The GX-9900 and the Flash System has one of the better adapted concepts, considering that the Moon's Microwave System in the UC Timeline was only seen used for recharging colonies though it was seen with the intent of flinging another colony down in 0083.

It's about time newcomers introduce themselves with new titles in their background instead of constant reruns (or so some claim in their local channels) since it spices up discussions and topics on the board.

You're the judge, since I must have missed much during my five-day absence.

...

Speaking of my absence in Korea, I am impressed at their use of technology which is even comparable to Tokyo. The use of lighting, large televisions and overall media and electronics in vehicles* everywhere is a sight to behold.

I have not had a chance to see the Electronic Market in the south of Seoul, but I have a good feeling that it can approach Japan's Akihabara district in a decade's time.

* My best friend who helped guide me around Korea even mentioned the presence of "Porno Taxis", which should be self-explanatory.

God, I hate Hammergirl Anime. They only do domestic shipping, so no Lum statue for me....until later this year (eBay Stores ftw). Plus, I found all three statues from the set on eBay for like $50 anyhoo, so I can definitely wait.

Instead, I went to Robert's to order the first Black Jack boxset, volume 2 of JJBA and volume 8 of Ranma 1/2. Better yet, it saved me like $16 USD.

Response to Anime Club 2007-08-01 22:26:30

I should be getting volume 1 of Basilisk from Netflix any day now. If it has a good plot and is well done, that's good. If not, at least I should be able to enjoy some hacking and slashing.

I'm still irritated with myself for not going to Akihabara when I was in Japan (with my Japanese class).

I had the opportunity, sort've.

We were going to go to the Tokyo Dome one day, but for whatever reason pertaining to the weather we just spent a day in some part of Tokyo that I forget the name of.

I could have gone to Akihabara, but none of my friends wanted to, so we stayed back and went to some irritatingly boring shops with nothing interesting in the.

I'm sure Akihabara would have been more interesting.

Oh well, ob la di, ob la da.

Yeah, that sucks, but I've done the same thing on out-of-country trips before.

I missed the chance to visit like seven stores in Manhattan I wanted to shop at due to poor weather and lack of co-operation from others travelling with me. In hindsight, I should have just taken a fucking cab and ignored where other people wanted to go.

It's even more annoying when the result is that you spend the afternoon in Tokyo Hands, and some sort of womans shop complex (which I believe the purpose of that was for someone to find a gift of some sort for a Japanese girl he had become close with in the duration).

I think the closest thing to an anime related item I bought in Japan was a small Pokemon figure (Blastoise), and some sort of Gundam or something (both of which gotten in those ball machine things).

And also I suppose my Totoro DVD and Nausicaa comic series, which were gifts from my host family.

Reminds me of the hours I spent in department stores, clothing stores, jewelery shops and K-Marts....

I didn't escape New York with much worth note either, just some Bebop merch (two volumes of the manga and the movie) and gifts for my miserable asshole friends.

If the trip was during the weekends, chances are that you did miss a lot. Particularly the parades and occasional dancing.

I think it was on a weekday.

Since on the trip we'd spend the mornings at Toin Gakuen (a school in Yokohama), learning about Japanese and stuff, and then in the afternoons go on field trips or whatever.

And on the weekends we just did stuff with our host families.

Oh the irony of your decision.

Not so much my decision as my friends.

Though somehow, despite never actually going to Akihabara, nor buying anything anime/manga related (aside from ball machine toys, which were a hell of a lot cooler than the ones you get here (I was kinda guiltily wanting to find one of those Lolita toy machines I saw pictures of a little back)) I still managed to attain the nickname "Otaku" for the duration of that trip.

I've no idea how that happened though.

Next time, huh.

If I ever go back to Japan I guess.

Though it would seem weird if I didn't, like my Japanese learning would have gone to waste.

When I was in Kyoto before moving into my own apartment, I was stuck with irresponsible hosts which threw me in one direction after another because they 'can't look after me' due to work. <_<

So I just thought "Fuck that, it's not like I need someone to cook for me with such a small schedule". And after moving into my own one-room 'studio' type apartment, it was all good.

I was kinda guiltily wanting to find one of those Lolita toy machines I saw pictures of a little back

I assume you mean the kind only found in basement stores or clubs.
Because I did not have time back then, I did not have the chance to check for them myself and therefore verifying the rumors for myself.

Though it would seem weird if I didn't, like my Japanese learning would have gone to waste.

If all goes according to plan, I will be returning to Japan for my PhD in two years' time. Heck, maybe it will be one step closer to an NG/A/ gathering. XP

Hah.

My host family were possibly the nicest people I have ever met.

The kind of nice that makes you feel like you yourself are a horrible person.

If all goes according to plan, I will be returning to Japan for my PhD in two years' time.

If I do exceptionally well in Japanese next year, I may be able to spend a gap year in Japan co-teaching
English at Toin (or something like that).

But I'm only like... 2nd or 3rd in my class, and others have expressed possible interest in that.

And that's only if they have it for that year.

Heck, maybe it will be one step closer to an NG/A/ gathering. XP

Hah.

A meeting in Japan? Sure, I've got a couple of thousand to spare.

I took it because when I first entered secondrary we had to take up a language for the first year.

I took both Japanese and French.

I got good marks in both, but I hated French, and enjoyed Japanese, so I kept going with that.

And the opportunity of going to Japan the following year if I was in the top 10 was a large incentive.

Because of one or more of the following:

1. You have been hiding under a rock for over a decade.
2. You have dried your eyes out with reruns on whatever local channel you are watching, thus assuming that everything is new despite that it is timestamped in 1993.
3. You're simply stupid.

That sounds like a good plan. I need to visit universities to seek out a place to do my research next year either way.

A meeting in Japan? Sure, I've got a couple of thousand to spare.

I can speak Japanese around the Level 2 Language Proficiency, and I have done some translating work in the past so I am not worried about the language barrier. I am sure most big places come in multiple languages anyway so it's the ideal holiday place for our kind of people who enjoy their culture.

Just decided to seek out some info about the fall anime season...

Bad news: Shakugan no Shana is getting a sequel, so the dull derivative bullshit can continue on for another 26 episodes of so..

Good news: GONZO's latest offering looks amazing, plus has a cast featuring some of my favourite up-and-comers (DAISUK ONO!!!).

Also, Studio I.G. is going all-out for their 20th annniversary. Masamune, Nakamura and Oka (writer Shirow, director Rytaro and character designer Mariko, respectively) are collaborating on a new series.

Here's praying it lives up to the reputations of the involved staffers.
