Well we know that the entire Braves Robot Army has courage backing up their every move, the Mobile Suits have either highly heat-resistant armor or countermeasures and Genesic GaoGaiGar had the Genesic Armor protecting it from conventional damage not to mention possibly Protect Shade on 'passive'.

Also, further plot development, the little girl was a former #1 Ranked Claymore who awakened. Priscilla is apparently some male awakened #1's girl (so to speak). This sets Clare off, because of the obvious history between her and Priscilla.
