Trust me on this one Kermit, that's a smart move.

In fact, that's how I accquired a fair deal of my anime.

Long live massive import boxsets!

Fucking sweet.

I think I've mentioned how he got me the entire Bruce lee movie collection for $12 canadian...

I've had many bargains that awesome myself.

Cowboy Bebop, complete series, $11 CAD. R.O.D The TV, complete series, $21 CAD.

There are probably more, but I've most likely forgotten about them.

Don't joke about it, 'cause it's true.

Unwatched anime I own:
Volume one of Saikano
Volume four of Robotech
Two Naruto boxsets
Volume one of Gankutsuou
Volume one of the Captain Harlock OVA series
A few VHS tapes of Sailor Moon and DBZ

No doubts, only watched part of one episode before turning it off and putting the boxes away.

Ah good times watching that, i kept it a secret from most people though in fear of being called a faggot for watching an anime that was for young girls and horny 14 year olds.

Hahahaha.

I only talk about anime to other otakus, so I was never afraid to admit I watched it.

I am still proud of my Slayers, Slayers Next, and Slayers Try all (78 episodes) for $9! That's roughly 11.5 cents per episode.

Well just got done getting the Part 2 episodes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I held off on the Part 1 episodes, cus I couldn't be sure if they were different.

About the joining-doujin debate, has anyone ever tried joining using a doujin? Most of the time, people just give anime, especially now that it is down to 5 and they have to talk about them. We use the term "anime" when asking for 5 entries and what got them into it.

I say this should just be a case-by-base issue. We should wait until someone tried to join using a doujin, and make a precedent then.

Not during my time here as a member.

I see this whole matter as very pointless. I honestly doubt it would ever be of any use to allow doujins as a qualifier for membership.

The fact that most fans of Naruto and Bleach consider those two to be the greatest things in existence. While ignoring the greater and classics such as Berserk, the early Gundam animes, Escaflowne, or other anime along those lines.

And where do you get this generalization from? I know some people that like Bleach, but that doesn't mean it is their all time favorites. It's the same with Death Note. They don't ignore classics...but they've already SEEN the classics, and not everybody likes rewatching the same shows over and over again. Bleach and Naruto have new episodes/continuing manga, much like the current anime season shows, which are also popular. Also, classic animes are learned about from people talking about them, and if people are only aware of animes that have become popular, then they won't see many older series.

There is a difference between ignoring something, and not knowing about it.

Just because there are tons of AMVs about Naruto and Bleach and people talk about them, doesn't mean everyone that likes the shows think they are the greatest thing ever. A good portion of the comments to AMVs are negative ones.

Surprising that anime fans would give another group of anime fans a negative stereotype just because some of those people have a show like Naruto or Bleach as their favorite.

They are just as bad as those people who randomly post in here saying Anime is porn.

PS: Off brand marshmellow serieal can't compare to Lucky Charms. I got a box of each and I had a whole bowl full of the off brand, with not one damn marshmallow!

You just have to keep voting on Flash entries and that will level you up over time.

To join:
1)List your five favorite anime, and write why you like it.

2)What got you into anime, and what kinds of anime do you like?

3)What kind of anime do you dislike.

No am not a naruturd, but i do love naruto shippuuden series

I first loved anime (and without knwing what it was) long ago when Sailor moon and dbz came out on toonami. (yeah, I liked sailor moon back then) In six grade I finally found out what anime was, in that time began watchin trigun and loved it ever since..

Finally, someone else who has seen Desert Punk!

It seems that DBZ was a first anime for many people. I wonder where Anime would be in America without Cartoon Network?

We just have a 7 word minimum post, which works pretty well. We like users who are good posters, like ones who multiquote if they want to respond to different people.

Also, we do not directly discuss getting/viewing anime episodes/movies from downloads or watching it online. Simplest way to avoid this is to say you are "getting" a show or just say you watched something, without going into too much detail.

Anywho...So what kinds of anime do you like? I like comedy and have started getting into the Super Robot genre.

Tough I am currently watching Gurren Lagann (Super Robot), Lucky Star (School Life), Claymore (Action), and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (..fighting?), after recently finishing Irresponsible Captain Tylor (light hearted- war) and Inukami (naughty funny)...so my tastes are pretty general.

Meh, I think I'll join, got nothing better to do.

Anyways, let's start:

Favorite Anime:

1) YuYu Hakusho
2) Devilman
3) Neon Genesis Evangelion
4) Death Note
5) Naruto (Comments can be shoved down your otaku asses)
6) Dragon Ball
7) Mazinger Z
8) Akira (The movie, never got a chance to read the manga)

Allright, I got into anime again recently. I used to watch it when I was in fifth grade, but then my dad took away the anime network, and I couldn't watch it again, but with current innovations like BitTorrent and YouTube, I'm starting to watch new animes. What actually got me into anime again was Naruto, because I was always saying it was shit without even watching it, then I felt that nobody should talk shit unless they know what exactly they hate, which is common around newgrounds. And to be honest, it's a pretty good show.

Don't get me wrong, though. I am not a narutard, but I do enjoy the series a lot. I hate it when kids these days speak abot watching good anime, but their only reference is Bleach, which to me sucks. As you can tell by my first anime selections, I like dark stuff, anything that has to do with Christianity or death, or anything that has demons on it pretty much calls my attetntion. Don't get me wrong either, I am not a goth-emo wannabe loser who dresses in black all the time or likes dark stuff just becase it's dark and thinks it looks cool, I just really enjoy stuff about demons.

It's really interesting to me in a way. Like I previously stated, I am relatively new to anime, so any suggestions you have, please be sure to tell me. Oh and, don't say Bleach.

What I hate:

I hate people who feel as if they're more cultured than anyone just because they watch anime, and know three words in japanese. But as it seems, almost everyone in my school who watches anime, or is an "otaku" if you please, is a complete narutard who likes everything japanese just because it's japanese. I dislike a lot of japanese stuff, and hate their food. I am not an otaku, mainly because I don't like labeling myself with bullshit names just to sound cultured. If I like something I'll watch/listen/do it and period.

Please, if you're going to give me suggestions, don't mention anything humorous, because anime is not and will never be funny. But hey, if you find it funny, more power to ya. Also, don't ever suggest anything that is like Inuyasha, because that is the anime I hate the most. Anything comparable to that is complete shit to me. If you like it don't worry, I won't make fun of you. So please any girly recommendation like Ranma 1/2 or close, just keep it. Still, I know there are a couple of animes around that I'm sure I'll like, and I already have some on my list but keep in mind, the only series I've seen completely from my list has been Dragon Ball, so if there's any anime as short as Death Note or Evangelion please tell.

My fingers are tired, so I'll finish up. Recommendations don't have to be all about death or whatever, as long as they're good enough to keep me hooked with trama, or whatever then cool.

Anyways, may I join?

Like Claymore, which appears to be dark/horror/action from the ouside, but afterwards it is obviously a dark comedy. Someone getting their lower arms suddenly cut off...comedy gold!

Well I was looking at http://www.explosm.net/comics/947/ and I don't know why, but I had to do this...cus it seems mean and funny.

Like the Trademarked Naruto title and actually head band? (I still think people are too mean to Naruto fans. Pepper Ann made hypocrisy seem so simple.)

Oh, you were doing so fine until you got to this....so sad.

I'd start to rip into you about, hmmm, Lord knows how many ridiculous things you said in your little write-up, but it wouldn't be worth the stress.

I will, however, commend you for actually making an effort to write a nice and lengthy application.

I'll be more blunt, I greatly disagree with your views on and taste in anime, and unless you're going to be a bit more open-minded, then we are not going to get along.

Savvy?

Seems good enough. My last post may not have been to your liking...though I still think it's funny. Oh, and I prefer Bleach to Naruto, but you have a nice list.

Never heard of Devilman, but from your introduction and list you might like Claymore. A new anime that is pretty dark. If you are into really dark with lots of gore, then there is always Elfen Lied or Narutaru.

And if you like Super Robots (evangelion, mazinger z) you might like GaoGaiGar, Gunbuster/Diebuster, or Gurren Lagann.
