Does MegasXLR count as a "True Anime"? I know it's an American Anime but is it a pure anime like Xenosaga or One Piece?

I think you kinda answered your own question.
A true anime would be an anime made in Japan.
Unless you're just going by the broad definition that anime is short for animation, and thus any animation is an anime.
I've never watched more than 2 minutes of Megas XLR in any one sitting.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say.

Yeah, I know that.

I loved that American Anime. The Comedy in that Anime is genious and the beginning theme of MegasXLR is sweet! Too bad they canceled it on Cartoon Network. :(

I personally find the term 'true anime' debatable.
At its core, 'anime' is simply a shortened name for 'animations', though the term has been used as a loanword in Japan for cartoons regardless of origin because it was much cleaner and easy to write compared to 'Kaatoun'. The term 'anime' was then re-imported as a loanword which replaced the term 'Japanimation' as an attempt to tie the bond between countries' culture together only to be distorted into a completly different meaning.
Though the term 'fauxnime' was given for american-made 'anime', then what are the cartoons made in contries outside of Japan which use the typical' anime' style? Or to complicate things even more, what do you call an american-styled animation made in Japan?
To me, it is a thin like even I wish not to tread asides from knowing that the terms cartoon and 'anime' are one in the same though blatant poor use of any given style is something I do not to expose myself to lest I lost my eyesight for the next 50+ years.

Isn't it ironic that 75% of all anime is ANIMATED IN SOUTH KOREA?

I would love to see MegasXLR come back. Coop was lucky every fucking time he fought an enemy.
HaroFreak,
That whole subject can be very complicated indeed! It sucks that people in this country took the word anime out of context, but there's no return unfortunately.

No, not a shred of irony there. Everyone outsources.
Anyhoo, I find the whole "anime Vs. fauxanime" debate to be pointless, because in the end, they're still essentially the same thing. Animation is animation not matter what style or what country it comes from.
I apologize supyo but...

Lupin III is cool, I enjoy the Sgt. Frog manga. Never saw the anime.

Hahaha, oh wow.
Way to not read the question....although Lupin, might I add, is epic win.

You know you quoted yourself right? Way to go. And like Gendo said, way to not answer my question. "Fauxanime" is American anime.

Not really.
You can say something is an American company if its products are manufactured in Malaysia can you not?

Well, I don't know what genre would be appropriate for me to choose. sci fi/fantasy, maybe.

hell yes.
Also, I loved that farmer with a shotgun video that was posted before.

Oh, I see. Sorta like Totally Spies or that other crappy stuff.

I do believe that it is under JAPANESE Management however. It is like saying the post-release models of the Nintendo Wii and PSP are chinese products just because of outsourcing.
In short; it is the management that makes more difference.

I am more annoyed at the cultural differences that 'force' 4Kids to change elements. Not just violent or disturbing scenes, script and images, but even culture-significant elements such as food and names. One example being onigiri (rice balls) being changed to sandwiches.
If 4Kids did Macross, they'll practically eliminate the entire presence of the Zentraedi and Meltrandi if following suit. XFD

And let's not forget Avatar; where many people claim it's a Naruto clone.

What does matter is how well it is executed, which has certainly not been done so by many companies which are trying to imitate without a specialist involved. Namely Teen Titans (not a Z Gundam parody) which had a terrible mix of both.
"Team Titans World Police", however, was intended parody which wins (though the original site is gone).

I've never liked Teen Titans.
The show vaguely feels like it could be decent if it didn't try so hard to be Japanese.
It will never replace Justice League.

Why do you think I respect the classic american cartoons so much more than now?
The point is that it tried to turn kids to their side by trying to emulate a culture they do not understand, and it has obviously triggered negative effects among the community.
It will never replace Justice League.
It will never replace any superhero show made in the 90s or earlier, let alone Justice League.

What annoyed me the most was getting the Japanese band to do the theme song.
That was just low.

I could have said a bunch of things, yes, but Justice League is appropriate, since it's about different superheroes joining up to fight crime.
I love some of those superhero cartoons, but the DC ones seemed to be better than the Marvel ones.
Batman: The Animated Series being the best.

Crossovers & References = Massive Fandom Orgy, even in Japanese Culture (in before SRW, Kingdom Hearts and Dairantou).
Batman: The Animated Series being the best.
I second that!

Yeah, but in comic books they cross over all the bloody time.
The DC comics characters keep crossing over to other DC comics, such as with all the battles between Batman and Superman.
Same with Marvel.
They're all meant to be like one universe, and thus the superheroes are bound to meet up at points.
There was even a canon Marvel Civil War at some point.
Batman: The Animated Series being the best.I second that!
One of the few comic book animated series' that introduced a character I actually liked.
Harley Quinn was awesome.

Very much like how Tezuka's work all parallels in the same universe, hence the recurring characters or similar traits thanks to the explanation given in Hi no Tori.
O may there you are gone for 2 days and its hard to keep up

We all know that the Anime we love to watch and enjoy (or : love to hate, such as End of Evangelion) is separated into
many categories such as Comedy, Science-Fiction,
Romance, General and Mecha.
And because of this, I want to ask for everyone's opinion
whether they would want to affiliate themselves with a
certain category so it would be easier to discuss among
specialising groups as well
I don't have any genere to like more or less.. maybe general/shoujo <-- not only romance

I believe everyone knows about the includent when 4kids spokeperson claimed that kids cannot read and that their editings are for the sake of 'localisation'.
The hypocritical? Censorship and the editing of trivial but culture-significant elements does not equal localisation. Localisation is the direct translation of a given language to suit viewers of a specific region while at the same time keeping everything significant to a culture intact.
Many have argued that culture-specific food or signboards may be non-local and thus making it hard for viewers to know what they are, but I am sure as hell that the typical viewer is not culture-blind (though sometimes stupid). It is a trivial editing which should not have even happened in the first place.
"lol 4Kids"
LMAO that farmer kicks ass. the song brings back a lot of memories. i have the lyrics memorized. at least in spanish.

If I had exceptions, I would have named them or their categories and not use the value definition 'any' so freely.
