The good doc mentions MAR a lot, also like gendo said, a look at wiki can get you that answer. as for if it's good.....can't say i never got into it,im not interested in it either.

Actually, I've already seen it on Toonami before. It wasn't that bad. The dubbing was horrible, but I could tell that it was a pretty good anime.

I think I'll watch this one.

Just like how SNL is really inconsistent with their air dates (although it's always on a saturday).

Every saturday is pretty consistent to me. Every other day it is just re-runs...though they are usually on at the same time on the same day.

Also, I don't know if I should read the bleach manga or not. Is it worth taking the time of going all the way from where the anime is now and reading ahead?

Well I like it a lot. It really isn't way far ahead of the anime, at least plot wise. The latest episode is at 215-216, and the manga is at 272 now.

I like it. You have to like Fantasy type a lot. Most of the series is a giant tournament to decide the fate of the world.

I'd rather have an opinion on MAR also, since Wiki does not show how good a show is.

Even if you read reviews, they really aren't all that helpful. Like on animenfo...they have reviews based on the FIRST HALF OF THE FIRST EPISODE! or FIRST 5 EPISODES! How fucking retarded is that? It isn't even until the 16th episode that the War Games start.

Like some Elfen Lied reviews based off the first episode.."based on the first episode, this series looks like a generic gore fest with no character development or real plot"...stupid ass mother fuckers.

They should all be raped by this failed magic expirement. And you too Akatsuki for not liking Slayers, though your opinion isn't that great, since you say you don't like long series..but the only one you seem to not like is Inuyasha. Slayers is the ultimate fantasy anime, so if you don't like it what fantasy animes do you like?

Bleh, I see Miyazaki to be genre-less, and we are talking series here, as in TV or OVAs.

Your narrow taste makes me smile.

Never seen Lodoss but damn straight about Slayers.

Maybe I should have said Fantasy-Comedies, cus Escaflowne and Berserk are nothing like Slayers/MAR. And Miyazaki films aren't series, so you can't compare the two. How much of Slayers/Lodoss have you watched Akatsuki?

Yay!

Maybe I should have said Fantasy-Comedies, cus Escaflowne and Berserk are nothing like Slayers/MAR.

Needless to say, fantasy is a tad broad a genre.

And Miyazaki films aren't series, so you can't compare the two.

Like I said.

My vote is around an episode or two of each, if even that.

Yeah...yay for sub-genres! Slayers is the quintessential fantasy anime. It is very D&D, with defined sorcereress, swordsmen, white magic users, dragons, magical items, and spells.

Funny how he said he likes fantasies, but then says the only ones he likes are Escaflowne, Berserk, and Miyazaki films.

Yep, Slayers covers all of the fantasy basics, and quite well too.

Funny how he said he likes fantasies, but then says the only ones he likes are Escaflowne, Berserk, and Miyazaki films.

And, via semantics and deft use of sub-genres, aren't pure fantasy anyhow. Berserk is more of an action series, Escaflowne is more of a steampunk/mecha one and Miyazaki's films are genre-less IMO.

I think he meant he was confused. Though anyone who's seen Slayers would know it wouldn't fit with Escaflowne or Berserk.

Better yet, who gives a fuck about genre anyway?

Genre is only good to give a general idea of what an anime will be like . A series goodness is purelly on a show by show basis.

The metal intro riff, then soft vocals and suddenly bizarre "screamo meets Boredoms" shouting and yelling.

It just doesn't fit.

I third this statement.
Though the second opening had much more 'interesting' images (such as apple-chases), the music just failed to go onto my MP3 Player and within good reasons. Besides, I am not a big fan of that genre of music.

Hey, as long as the animation stays dead sexy, I won't cause a fuss over mediocre music.

Unlike what I 'sound' like on the BBS, I prefer Classical music over Heavy/Punk Rock.

But doesn't really matter if the scene's are good, the music is what's more important.

Not the way I see it.
If not taking into account whether I liked the style of music or not, the animation DID fit the music in the opening.

Scoring = separate from crappy OP/ED themes

Mid-show music still matters, blaring crappy garbage during such intense drama would be unacceptable.

Also, some may think one series is copying from another when they are both simply based on the same myths or historical events/people. Anime is often influenced by mythology, religion, and history, and some people don't catch the references.

After watching a couple of episodes of Hellsing, I've decided one thing.

Alucard is the worst name for a vampire ever.

If I actually tried thinking of a terrible vampire name, I don't think I could possibly get one more lame than Alucard.

I mean really, what were they thinking?
