As anime's tend to do when they're translated from Japanese for an American audience.

You do realise it was originally in Japanese, right?

I thought the translation of Spirited Away was better. Some of the voice actors in the American version of Princess Mononoke were kinda crap, like that guy with the red nose.

I know it was originally Japanese. I just don't normally have the resources to get things in original Japanese, or even with dubs.

Really? I thought pretty much all Ghibli DVDs had both the Japanese, and English.

At least every one that I've ever seen.

Maybe if you got it out on video, but who does that nowadays?

Yeah man, I bought it on VHS. It was before DVD's were mass produced.

It featured Minnie Driver as Lady Eboshi, Jada Pinkett Smith as one of the inron worker women, Billy Bob Thorton as the monk guy, and Billy Crudup as Ashitaka.

The all star cast and the superb story made that movie an epic masterpiece.
Ever try watching it in the original Japanese? Y'know, without your little all-star American cast?

Mononoke-hime's one of the few anime I can actually stand English dubbed. I agree with him on the excellent job done by the American cast. The only other two I've found that I've liked as much as the originals (or better) are Kiki's Delivery Service and the Tenchi series, lol.

I just have to ask this. Is English your first language? If so, are you mentally disabled? I refuse to believe that someone 16 years-old could type like this. I need to know.

Kiki's delivery service is somehow better to me when I watch it around Halloween.

I guess the fact that she's a witch just adds to it.

I just discovered three new anime titles via Anime Network on Demand:
Kidou Shinsengumi Moeyo Ken - a series that takes place in Meiji-era Japan in which monsters register with the government to get the equivalent of a dog license. The cat-monster of the main character sounds like Paul Lynde in the US version, but otherwise it kicks ass.
Air Gear - combines high-tech rollerblades, comedy, and loads of fan-service (including full-frontal nudity).
Pani Poni Dash - maybe it's better in Japan, but it seemed to me like the poor man's Negima. A super-genius 10-year-old girl graduates from MIT and teaches in Japan.
Divergence Eve - I've heard a lot of good things about this series, especially about the mecha and hot chicks at the core of its plot. I'm watching the first episode now.

Perhaps that's because the same woman does both the male type voice and the female type voice, lol.

Hey, I was wondering if anyone happened to look at the animation snippet I linked to earlier. =3 Am I being paranoid (today's secret word, heheh!) that you disliked it, or was it lost in the enormity of my mega-post, lol?

Thanks, I will try my damnedest to keep food plentiful.

I could stand some L.A. Blue Girl. :P I got to watch some with my friends at a con a couple years ago, and I never laughed so hard at an anime until then.

Hells. Yes. I'm a huge fan, it's a hilarious series.

Oh fuck that, Sarah Strange > Richard Cox by a longshot.

Ranma's voice really goes downhill starting with season four....trust me.

I remember you. You used to have Seshoumaru as your representative character, and I his brother. I can't help but wonder if you outgrew the series like I did.

===

First episode of GaoGaiGar = Win. The first robot is created quite awesomely and has some very cool offensive weapons made from everyday appliances. Like microwaves and freezers.

---

Came across the Cromartie High School OST but the file size for each file is fucking insane. None of the programs I use with to compress them and convert them recognize the files thus I got rid of it.

I cried on the inside. Many a tear...

And I'm still on fire from watching Akagi, so much that I have to watch it again.

I've never seen the Gaokaigar series, but I love the theme songs. :) I have them on a CD, lol.

I drew a pic for a Spanish project. :) She's a time machine named "Pepita." If you can guess all the anime influences that went into her design, I'll give you a whole plate of plum onigiri. :p Hint: it's only two different characters. :3

Link

If you want to learn more about her, you can find a better explanation in my thread here, but it's not very anime related, so you might not be interested, lol.

Fine, we've already watched the first episode and the first OVA of Hellsing, read some manga (Ranma 1/2, Death Note and Read or Dream).

Up next we've got 12 more of Hellsing plus a few of the Hannibal Lecter films and tons more anime to watch.
