Yeah, and to make matters worse, this crappy landmass is a shit place for shopping.
It's br00tal, so now I'm stuck shopping on interbuttz, which I can honestly say I don't have the patience for. Oh well, only about two more days until my DVDs arrive.

New Zealand is crappy for shopping for anime too.
I don't really buy anime on DVD, except for my Ghibli films, but when I want to buy mangas, there's only two decent shops for it, and they mostly only have crappy series's, and for the decent series's, they always seem to be out of stock for the first copy.
As a result, I only have like 12 mangas.

I only buy anime DVDs when I have loads of money (read: hundreds or more) to spend or I'm on vacation/a shopping trip and have access to better series for a good price.
I am however in debt to the local Blockbuster and my friend Adam for giving me my Urusei Yatsura fix (the first movie and a few dozens loose chapters of the manga respectively).

Ugh, our import shops (the only place to get non-Tokyopop manga) have stopped stocking new manga, so I'm stuck with a choice between a box of copies of Maison Ikkoku Vol. 5 or crappy mainstream garabage.
As a result, I only have like 12 mangas.
I have shitloads of manga, but once again only because of spending sprees and out-of-town shopping.

I was thinking of buying Akira on DVD, but I don't really know how much I'd watch it. The only anime DVDs I have are Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Spirited away (gift), Princess Mononoke (gift), and My Neighbour Totoro, which my Japanese host family bought me when I was in Japan. Although, My Neighbour Totoro isn't a great DVD, because the subtitles for the Japanese version are just the "English for the hard of hearing" ones for the English version, and as a result you get a bunch of text for voices that aren't there, because the translators are annoying enough to add to the script. Awesome movie nontheless. I think I also have a Pokemon video from like... Years upon years ago.

Yeah, the manga in the shops I can go to are mostly all Tokyo Pop, except for a select few. Although most of my mangas aren't Tokyopop, since more than half of them are the series of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, that my Japanese family ordered from America for me. They were ridiculously nice, I think the other non Tokyopop ones are .Hack//The Legend of the Twilight 1 (which I think there is a Tokyopop version of, but this one's like a Singaporean English translation by Chuang Yi), and Aria 1.
I should really go back there and see if they have anything new.

I had a hard time making a decision on if it was worthy of purchase or not, but then I realized that...
A) It gets better with repeated viewings
and...
B) It was dirt cheap at Blockbuster
The only anime DVDs I have are Laputa: Castle in the Sky, Spirited away (gift), Princess Mononoke (gift), and My Neighbour Totoro, which my Japanese host family bought me when I was in Japan.
I also received Spirited Away as a gift, and I need to buy Mononoke.

I own the same Totoro disc, fuck, the dubtitles pissed me off.
Awesome movie nontheless.
I wasn't a huge fan of it, one viewing was enough for me.

I was being figurative again, silly. I feel in debt to them because I got my UY stuff dirt cheap (the DVD was about nine bucks and the manga only cost me a beaten-up copy of Avengers #15).

Yeah, on the rare occassion one of the mainstream stores orders in some Viz stuff, but it's never anything worth reading.
Although most of my mangas aren't Tokyopop, since more than half of them are the series of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, that my Japanese family ordered from America for me.
Nausicaa was an amazing manga, I read it over the summer and ate up every fucking word.
I've yet to see the film, that'll probably be my next goal after I finish Hellsing and Haruhi Suzumiya.

I'm broke after my epic Ranma 1/2 and Hellsing spending sprees, so I'll have to pray Shane bought me some manga for my birthday....

Damn you, video stores near me and your not selling anime. Well one of them carries absolutely no anime at all outside of kids series' like Pokemon, and the other has a small selection. The one I can take a short busride to has a good selection, but it doesn't sell any. And the one all the way in town... I don't really know anything about it, it's like completely out of my way.
Then again, I think there's a Blockbuster near to the videostore I usually go to, but I'm not a member there.
I also received Spirited Away as a gift, and I need to buy Mononoke.
Well I just have those ones because my brother tends to have no idea of what to get me for Christmas, and he remembers that I like Ghibli films, so yeah.
I own the same Totoro disc, fuck, the dubtitles pissed me off.
As a result, I haven't watched it in ages.
I wasn't a huge fan of it, one viewing was enough for me.
I think my Japanese teacher has my copies of Laputa, Mononoke, and Totoro, because he wanted to borrow them for a week. That was about mid last year.
I was wanting to watch Mononoke at some point in that time, so I'm angry at him.

I think it's probably been like 1 and a half years, because we watched it in Japanese class around that time.

3. Naruto
4. Angelic Layer
5. Fullmetal Alchemist
6. Hikaru no Go

Centuries ago, where have you been?
I like most anime music except for the music from Bleach. It just bothers me.
I managed to find Star Ocean EX to watch on Youtube finally, so I'm quite happy about that.
I watched the first episode, and it seems okay, not spectacular though.
It also took a full episode to get through the first 5 minutes of the game.
I still don't get why they made a Star Ocean 2 anime though, it doesn't seem like the sort've game that would need an anime to go along with it.
I hear it cuts away halfway through the game though.

I liked a few of the incidental pieces (especially that ambience that plays nearly every damn time Rukia pops up in the first ten episodes), but the opening and ending songs are horrific.

I'm not a fan of Evangelion's ending theme, or Evangelion in general.
The manga is good and the anime had a few awesome episodes, but the movies and some later episodes flat out sucked in my opinion.
Also, I'm almost finished Vol. 2 of Hellsing and I'm severely disappointe by the lack of Alexander Anderson.
*Spoilers*
His last appearance (in Vol. 3), better make up for this.
*End spoilers*
Isn't the Evangelion ending theme the song, Fly Me To The Moon?
If it is, I love that song.
After watching the first 3 episodes of Star Ocean EX, I've decided that I like it.
But I'm not sure if the sole reason I like it is because I've played the game, and I'm enjoying seeing how it unfolds in an anime world, and if I'd like it had I never heard of the game.
I am kinda disappointed that the characters don't move inside each other when they're walking though.
If it's done nothing else, it's definately given me the desire to play Star Ocean: The Second Story again.

Well I finally got around to finishing The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and it's one of the better series that I have seen. The ending episode for the series[not according to Haruhi]was probably the best one.
*******************SPOILERS FOR SUZUMIYA******************************
Basically, she IS God. She controls life and death. If she wishes for it it happens. It's the reason why Nagato is a alien, Asahina is a time traveler and Koizumi is an esper. She desired these things and thus they came to be. In the anime Koizumi speculates to Kyon that three years ago Haruhi created the world and everything in it. Crazy, no?
*******END SPOILERS*************************
With that I started to watch Akagi. The character designs are wild, reminds me of Cyborg 009 in a way. The art though other than their faces is very bold and smooth. Clean too.
It's basically about mahjong [I didn't read up on it unlike I do with most series] and it's exciting one to say. The first three episodes have me pretty much hooked on it. Akagi, a 13 year old boy who has the mind of a genius catches on to the game in about two rounds [East-South-West-North like 1-2-3-4]he caught on to the game with no problems. He even made some false mistakes to trick his opponents who were seasoned veterans at the game into thinking he was going to loose. To say the least he is a monster at this game which he only played for about six or so hours.
It's even gotten me interested in playing mahjong as well.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahjong
If anyone else wants to learn.
Now if they took everyday things like arithmetic and such and put it into an anime maybe kids wouldn't have such poor grades in it.

Well, my friends are making the wait for my order of DVDs unbearable, all they wanted to talk about today was what we are gonna watch, what we'll watch first and how long it will take to watch everything.
