Fuck, I might actually have to watch it now if they dont screw the voices. I loved the manga.

The dub is gonna be a long ways off, so there's plenty of time for Viz to get smart and change the cast. It seems likely with the time-skip and all that they'll at least recast the main characters.

I just saw Wrath of the Dragon last night on Toonami and the bad guy was kick-ass. And I don't mean the short little red dude. I can't remember his name though. And what I don't get is why did they show this AFTER Fusion Reborn? I mean Janunpa (I think that is how you spell it) could totally annihilate the big dragon dude.

Ironically, it had one of the best English casts in my opinion.

My exact thoughts...

Could we get one that's decent on both sides?

Doesn't seem likely....Evangelion was decent in both languages (aside from the initial episodes of the dub having some rough voicing and the multiple re-castings of Gendo and Kaowru's English VAs).

Also, I just heard Ishida's dubbed voice. Ouch.

Ugh, he sounds like a lame high school student's attempt at sounding evil.

just close your eyes and omfg it's Sasuke! And i realised that when Hitsugaya was fighting his voice was exactly like Edward Elric so i checked it out and it's the same person ^^

currently watching bleach myself on episode 70.

and as for the FMA movie. I'm glad they made it. the ending of the series killed me and this ending makes it kinda better although *SPOILER* no renkin jutsu for Ed or Al :( *END SPOILER*

and as for Naruto 333. have that you Akatsuki prick. although it seemed a bit too easy for Kakashi :/

I fucking loved the movie, mostly because I'm a film and WWII buff, so I got all the obscure references and noticed all the historical figures before a single name was mentioned.

Me too, in fact I wish they hade gone further than they did with the concept. A full on war between the worlds would have been awesome, possibly for a series.

That would have been cool as Hell. I also felt that Fritz Lang and Hitler deserved more screentime. If Hitler even got one line to speak, I'd have creamed my pants.

Now a question, who would win?

A State Alchemist?

Or a Nuke?

Better question....
Who would win?
Alex Louis Armstrong?
or...
A nuke?

I've read it, too mainstream for me. But they do what they do really good, so I would reccomend it, just dont expect the niche stuff that you seem to enjoy.

I'm not expecting niche, I'm in it for the freebies and to possibly catch up with all this new fangled jibba-jabba these kids are ramblin' about.

Fuck it, I'll buy a volume of Death Note instead. Unless I can find the back issue with the Nerima Daikon Brothers DVD....I thing Gordon has that one.

Response to Anime Club 2006-12-03 20:38:02

I've finally caught up to DeathNote... now for the long wait until I find an episode past #8, I've also started watching EvanGellion again, my dad just got his cds back that he lent to a friend 4 years ago. Also I'm meaning to get back into Bleach but I can't find what episode the first filler ark left off on (the one where everyone gets kidnapped) if someone could tell me I would give you many thanks.

I think I'll start renting Now and Then, Here and There from Netflix. Has anybody here seen it? If so, what do you think of it? I am also considering Iria Zeiram.

I hope Netflix gets all of the volumes of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure soon. I've been wanting to see it.

But if I had to pick I'd have to say Trinity Blood is the best just because I actually look at their mouths when they talk. I have to agree for the worst, One Piece is definitely the most horrible dub I have EVER seen. I mean, the guy with the power of that smoke fruit, his mouth barely moves when he talks! It's horrible!

Dubs are about more than just matching the lip movements. It's also about the acting, keeping the dialogue similar to the original, and how well the voices fit the characters.

Only ten nukes? Alex Louis Armstrong is too sexy for his shirt already, let alone ten taboo weapons of mass destruction? What will it do at most, stun him for several seconds like what it did to the Tekkaman series of "Bio-Boosted Humans"?

This is the Japanese VA for Domon Kasshu in the anime series G Gundam singing this song. Download the song, it's worth it. If there ever was a song made of hot blooded passion and power this is it. I cannot describe the empowering feeling I get from this song, almost to the point of tears.

---

With having re-watched G Gundam my love for the series has sextupled from what it once was. With this I am changing my representative character to the King of Hearts: Domon Kasshu.

1 - G Gundam
2 - Bleach
3 - Nightwalker
4 - Descendants of Darkness
5 - Inuyasha
6 - Ghost in the Shell
7 - Fullmetal Alchemist
8 - Gundam
9 - Naruto
10 - Love Hina

---

Starting later on tonight I'm going to start watching Gungrave. It's very promising from the looks, glad I went through the hassle of obtaining it. B)

With the whole thing about the DBZ movie that I was talking about like yesterday or so, that was also sort of a question. Don't you think it would have made more sense to show them in chronological order? First Wrath of the Dragon and THEN Fusion Reborn.

Just because of the changes in power level between the characters, yes. For other reasons, no, not really. I'm assuming you know that none of the movies tie up with the series.

It was cool, that series. Like a Gundam boxing league.

Good analogy, the kick-assness of the concept alone was trumped by the humor and awesome characters.

Shit, this makes me want to go grab my old Master Gundam model and run around the basement quoting Master Asia like a fucking madman.

Yeah. I just love how they theme'd the Gundams after what the countries stand for, same with the colonies. Mexicos colony shaped like a sombrero and Gundam Maxter with the football helmet, matching pistols and surfboard. LOL!

That would be awesome. I should take a picture of my bookshelf/desk which houses a lot of my Gundam models. Master and God Gundam among the ones there.

Thinking about this, I might do more of these. Share songs from different anime that I hold to as made of Win and God along with the lyrics. Yeah, sounds good. B) Maybe I'll do another later on tonight.
