Yeah, I heard about that. My teacher told me a few weeks ago. Half of my local Media Play is closed off already.

They probably have 'said game', more or less. I always prefered Media Play to Best Buy for the reason that it had a section dedicated to anime and the video game section was right next to it. Not to mention that their selection was great and the prices weren't too shabby either.

By the way, where do all of the .hack anime series fit in the timeline? I know that .hack//SIGN is after the video games, and so is .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet (although it bears a heavy resemblence to the game's story), but what about .hack//LIMINALITY (which comes with the games as bonus discs)?

I do belive LIMINALITY came before Legend of the Twilight, as in.

LIMINALITY
Dawn
Dusk
LotT

I think that's how they go. I think there are a few more in the series. See, this is one reason why Kouga should stop in at this time.

Bad as in badass my good man. It is quite phenominal. I'm sure everyone here would enjoy this game as much as I do.

Personally I loved the game, me and all the other people who made it win numerous game of the year awards.

*laugh* So, how about a few dollars, eh?

I didn't get anything, I'm a man in the house, meaning no gifts, no nada, which is why I'm glad that I have a job, so I can buy my own stuff so I don't get any disappointment on the side, well, I did get a cool Christmas card from Sarai, but that was it. Other than that, I went on another manga binge.

On that note we should also point out Funimation. Excluding DBZ and Yu Yu Hakasho they have done a pretty poor job in the animes they have dubbed. Recently they bought the rights for the Negima anime. However I have a feeling that they will actually do a pretty good job with this one. I personally got to talk with the voice acting director of the series when i went to Nekocon back in Novemeber (special guest) and she told me that Funimation is throwing everything they have into this series. They even went as far as to hire 8 new voice actressess to compensate for the massive amount of characters in the cast. (all total in anime close to 60! compared to DBZ with 27 and YYH with 35!) My personal fav. character (Nodoka) will be getting one of the new actresses, and from what the directer told me, her voice is almost dead on with the Japanese voice actressess's, only in english. Needless to say i BEGGED her to match up the voices with the Japanese version the best she could. And she promised.

Let's just hope that Negima wont end up like it's Akamatsu created predosesser Love Hina. We all know how badly Bandai fucked up with the voices on that one! Especially Motoko's!

I stand corrected. In the .hack timeline, .hack//SIGN comes first, followed by the games and .hack//LIMINALITY (which occur simultaneously), and then .hack//Legend of the Twilight Bracelet. There is no .hack//DAWN and .hack//DUSK is a title incorrectly applied to .hack//Legend by fan-subbers. Of course, Bandai is currently cranking out the prequels, which further clouds the timeline's origin.
On a slightly-related topic, do you think it would be weird to get a blue Subaru Legacy or Impreza and name it Lady Subaru? I've heard of people naming their cars, but intentionally buying a vehicle to name after an anime character sounds like something only a card-carrying Otaku would do.

Why am I not suprised...

Recently they bought the rights for the Negima anime.

Oh hell... I was looking forward to hearing how the ADV version would end up. Dang it.

However I have a feeling that they will actually do a pretty good job with this one.

Was it how they did Fullmetal Alchemist, or not...?

I personally got to talk with the voice acting director of the series when i went to Nekocon back in Novemeber (special guest) and she told me that Funimation is throwing everything they have into this series.

That's more or less the same thing they said about Naruto (Viz).
And so far, it's spoilt by odd accent.

We all know how badly Bandai fucked up with the voices on that one! Especially Motoko's!

Spoiler?
Not to mention the infamous Disco Light Gun found in Gundam Seed *Shudder*

As far as anime/mangas, I got the Outlaw Star perfect collection, the first 9 episodes of Bubblegum Crisis, (which I have not seen yet) Dead Leaves, and Memories. I watched those last two I mentioned for the first time, and I thought they were both cool movies. I've already seen Outlaw Star many times (one of my favorite shows) on TV, but I just started watching the unedited DVD version last night.

I've watched the first 5 so far and I noticed a few things that were changed for Cartoon Network. There's more profanity and sexuality. I remember when the show premiered on CN, Jim said the word "ass", which was quickly replaced by "butt" for reruns. I thought that was pretty funny.

I also got the first Berserk manga, which I haven't read yet.

Some non Japan related things I got were

DVD: Unleashed (unrated) and 28 Days Later.
Xbox: Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath.
PS2: Soul Calibur 3.

Stubbs was very easy and I beat it within a total of just a few hours. I still like it, though and will play it many times over.

I got some other little things too. I should be getting at least one more present when I go to see my grandparents and my dad, who was in China during Christmas.

I prefer just about anything over Naruto. I watched the 1st 15 episodes and had to stop. I just can't see what people see in this anime. The ONLY good thing i can see going for it is the special effects and that's it. The story plot sucks, and the comedy (if you can call it that) is very sub par and full of toliet himor, which is the kind of humor i dislike.

I just can't see what people see in comedy Animes. THEY ARE NOT FUNNY. Even when the Japanese are trying to make it funny.

The story plot sucks,
Atleast it has a plotline unlike Animes like Love Hina.

Read the manga, that's all I can say in defense to that

SPOILERS AHEAD

Some of the plot twists are good (Canon ones, of course). But ever since the animation has reached Filler Hell, it has become a sad attempt to keep it going.

And it has been too far apart since the last "good" fight (Naruto VS Sasuke), and it is as if finding Sasuke is no longer significant.

and the comedy (if you can call it that) is very sub par and full of toliet himor, which is the kind of humor i dislike.

I only recall three or four episodes out of the total released (Including Movie Filler). And only one (Or maybe another) in the comics.

I had no problem with the Naruto fillers at first, but they've become very bad. The current story is so boring, I'm thinking about just waiting for the anime to go back to the manga storyline, but even the manga storyline is kind of boring. I really don't give a crap about Sai and his male midriff.

Yeah, but at least the Canon story is going SOMEWHERE and has a brief amount of suspense, if any.
