Hum, now that I think about it ... I'm not that sure about the first idea, taking vp from users who doesn't use it responsibly. I mean ... it pretty look like the "take exp from users who vote 0 blindly" which never quite worked. I'm a high vp user though, so I guess I'm biased.

May be portal mods would be another alternative ?

I think part of the problem is that a lot of users don't view the under judgement flashes enough to know what nice intro is being tagged onto crappy flashes repeatedly and which ones aren't. I gave a fair score to one of their movies a little bit ago purely because I thought that the intro was made specifically for that flash. Not all of us are frequent blammers so we don't all recognize the tactics people use to get their flashes through.

Of course, if someone has repeatedly voted high on UU movies well aware of what is being done to get it through then they really have no excuse. I think instantly taking away they're experience is a little harsh, but it might be time for another front-page announcement to let people know that you're not blind to what they're doing.

I agree with that, even though some user are probably misusing their high vp, it wouldn't be very "democratic" to decide weither or not they voted for what they believed was good/bad ...

The UU is just as bad as the Sunshine Crew, they fricking make a shitty flash movie and will actully fall for it just because of some fucking song. NG users are falling fo the same trap and give the UU movies a 5 just because of the intro. My message to NG users here: if find some UU movies just give them a 0, there crap and retard.

What would you rather - Your movie being judged by skilled and experianced users, or n00bish users that are just going through looking for blam or protect points.

What they could also do, is to dig out any decent cartoons that have been blammed. It's sad to see how many good-quality pieces of flash don't make it on here, when you've got stuff coming in such as The Star Syndicate, Kitty Crew and the Sunshine Crew.

But what would happen if you delete a flash from a request by an author, who wants his flash to get deleted. Will we still get the -100 whistle points.

From what I see, a flash needs to have at least 1.6 out of 5 points to survive in the portal. How about getting the PHP guys to increase the minimum score to at least 2? Most of the lame stuff are between 1.6 and 2 anyways...

The big problem with these extra judgement methods is that it means completely arbitrairy decision by a few, which is the opposite of the former purpose of the portal.

What we need is an objective way of dealing with such problem. I don't know ... may be a score penality of x points for the collabs using intros (the difference between intro and tags would be the length) ? Of course it'd need user to flag it so, and mods/admins to look after it, may be it'll need another whistle category ?

It would probably be abused by rivaling groups. People who don't likae Foamy would probably mass vote movies down until they get blammed. And so on with LegendaryFrog, Piconjo, the CC, LL, BB, RR, GG, etc, etc, etc, etc. Even though the vast majority of them are not abusing anything. The UU is quite annoying, though. VERY, I would say. They should probably be IP banned from submitting anythign further. Maybe it cannot be done, and if so, could be a neat feature to be made, for portal mods...

I was joking about that.

What we need to do is discourage users, who have accumulated a lot of points, from using their increased powers to abuse the site. They are supposed to use their power to enforce the rules and help keep crap off the site, and keep good entries on the site. If they are going to use their power to put crap on the site, and vote down good entries, that goes against what we expect from them. It takes these people a long time to bulid up these points, it takes me seconds to remove them.
