Yeah, I was gonna attempt to read every page but I've missed about 15 to 20 now so I gave up and just read the last 3 pages that I miss.
ive been up to date since page 96, but the 40 before that i haven't seen a single post

Yeah. We need a new rule that only people from the U.S. can post in this thread because otherwise it goes too many pages when I'm in escuela :)
Have any of you read the animators handbook? I got it out today.
I also filmed some chavs on the bus for your learnings.

i hated the animators handbook.. its too preachy. It doesnt allow for you to just sort of figure it out yourself its very systematic and animation shouldnt be that way. Theres some people who do it 'wrong' but it works out for them.

Ah ok. I'll keep that in mind. I just picked it up for the sake of it, i keep thinking i've got all this cool shit I can be using for free, cameras etc, but no one does. So I got out a camera and got a book.
Up the villa, hope we win tonight. The new owner has paid for 6,000 fans to travel down from Villa Park to Stamford bridge to support the villa. How cool is that. Look how good we're doing again this season.

Is it possible to incorporate the particle effects that you made in one of your movies into a symbol that can be embedded into a flash timeline and tweened about a movie stage?
what kind of particle are you looking for?
The forcefield one mainly. I'll probably get check this up with you on a P2P convo.

Yeah, ill probably watch that :P. Nice pic btw. I don't think Villa's as good as it used to be, but things change :D.

I sort of thought of it the other way. I think teaching the basic technique and elements of ainimation style allows you a simple foundation for discovering the way you animate. I don't think it's a book worth dedicating your life to, but it gives you a cleaner understanding of timing and how animation has evolved, especially in the industry.
Hi there!

Was kind of surreal and also pretty flattering.

Lol. I think it was hilarious how he almost copied the scenes exactly as they were in your animation. Nice slow motion effects. That mother in the movie is pretty hot

well i just dont find that its techniques are that applicable in the flash environment.. a walk cycle in that book consists of like 40 movements or something which is rediculous in the flash environment... maybe back in the day it took 40 some frames to do a walk loop in the traditional cel animation but in flash its just dumb... the result of it would barely be noticeable for all the work involved. Also I think that it doesnt leave the floor open to exploration, if you look at animators like Adam and Synj, and particularly MindChamber in his pico unloaded movie youll see that the inbetweens are actually quite harsh. MindChamber at some points just flat out skips the inbetweening during some sequences which is contrary to the book where it explores all the animation storyboards accounting for every single frame.
I think its a good book to glance over, but i would never recommend it. I think you gain a greater understanding of animation by observation of other artists work and just observation of life and how things in the world work.

Good advice, I had seen so many people recommending it I was almost going to get it.

Are you ever going to stop doing that? :-P

And easy. Hell, you could set up a freakin script to do it for you.
I doubt that job would be on offer if it was illegal if it's from a respectable proffesional company. Show us the company's site, and we'll tell you if it looks dodgey or not.

It's probably legal, but my dad's Yahoo! e-mail account was deleted because he sent out recruitment letters and was reported. So, if your mail services detect you sending e-mail en masse, then be prepared. Otherwise, I'd go for it, unless there's something else I'm not aware of.

Well... someone's got to camp domains... may as well get paid for it.
It's perfectly legal and shouldn't count as spam provided that there's an element of market research to it. If you're trying to peddle "pipesandwrenches.com" to websites and companies based around the plumbing industry than that should be okay, whereas sending out el generico email to every address with an "@" and a "." in them will be pretty spammy...
I just hope you're not working on comission.

Yeah, check for spelling mistakes, design mismatches and just terrible design. They're all signs of fraud. Also, i need more help :D:D:D Please :P.
Okay, here's my problem. I'm setting up a level system, where when a user dies, it raises a var called 'killCount' once. Once it reaches a point equal to a variable in my level array, it will play an aniamtion and add 0.01 to killCount to stop it from looping.
This works fine for the first number in the array, but it won't play if it reaches the second + point. Here's the code, can anyone see why i'm having problems?Thanks in advance everyone :).
levelUp._visible = false;
killCount = 0;
level = 1;
var levelArray:Array = new Array(10, 20.01, 30.02, 45.03, 60.04, 80.05, 100.06, 120.07, 150.08, 170.09, 200.1, 230.11, 260.12, 300.13, 340.14, 400.15, 450.16, 460.17, 480.18, 500.19);
btn1.onPress = function() {
_root.killCount++;
trace(_root.killCount);
};
onEnterFrame = function () {
for (i=0; i<20; i++) {
if (killCount == levelArray[i]) {
trace("pie");
trace("Hi");
level += 1;
levelUp._visible = true;
levelUp.play();
killCount += 0.01;
}
}
};
I bet it's something simple right?
another 6 pages. I cant keep up, does that make me uncool?

I don't keep up any longer. I think it's the shift to personal conversations that are a line or two long instead of the long, thought out questions people have been asking each other.

It's good to know that type of stuff, but i think if you ever want to make really interesting movies, you have to discover your own methods. Alot of people who 'mastered' the traditional animating style end up being afraid of experimenting and letting go of what they know. They end up making the same boring traditional animations exactly as described in that book for the rest of their lives. Blegh

Its legal, but its kind of a spineless practice normally frownd upon in the professional world, the companies that do buyouts for the sake of then trying to sell you 'your' domain at a premium price is a pretty low way of making a living. But if making money is your only concern right now then go for it.
Dont email me though with offers with variations/misspellings of my domain, ill slam you.

Someone i knew (he was a dumbass though) found an iPod mini in the cinema. He tried to hand it in but apparently they didnt have a lost n found box so they told him to keep it. Lucky bastard. Oh well he dropped off the course after retaking his first year. Noob.

Not at all relevant. He managed to fail animation 2 years in a row. He was a tool and I'm glad to see him go.
I had to work in a group with him on one assignment and he did no work at all while me and the other person did everything, then he acted like he was the smartest fucking guy in the world.
Anyone else every get stuck in a group with someone who does no work and drags your grade down?
added that last bit to make it a relevant story
