Raiden! Turn the game console off right now!
Haha, that part creeped me out X)

The fact that Raiden was running around naked didn't really help either..

Hehe, I really remember it since I was around twelve at the time, and since MGS2 was such a great game with like 10 hours (literally) of cut-scenes, I'd been playing it untill one in the morning. That point in the game was where I finally decided: "Right - my TV's talking to me. Time to call it a night".

In all seriousness though I bet that that moment gave a lot of gamers nightmares, considering that you'd have been glued to your TV screen for half of the day if it was your first time playing. I think I actually screamed when the colonel's face turned into a skull :s

Speaking of nightmarish games, anyone here play Earthbound? The final boss fight is, well, just creepy and eerie. The whole concept is kind of sad, but the way it's presented is very weird and scary. I didn't quite realize it all playing the game when I was 9, but looking back at it, I can see now.

It doesn't help that the boss' dialogue is apparently based off of lines from a violent porn movie the games creator accidentally saw as a kid.

I would like to remember that when I first got there, I had been playing for quite some time in that sitting as well, 4-5 hours at least. At first I actually considered that maybe it was some kind of function in the game that monitored how long I had played, and then gave me those radio calls as some kind of reminder that maybe I should get a life instead :3

Soon I realized that it was just a part of the story though, but considering how weird many of the easter eggs that Konami put into MGS2 were, I wouldn't really have been surprised if it was what I first thought though :P

Ah I remember that part of the game, good old Hideo and his jokes. It was also fun seeing Raiden do a summer sault, or whatever it's called, while using his hands to cover his crotch.

Yeah, he's quite the athlete to be able to pull that one off X)

As we are one the subject of MGS I figured that I should tip about the "secret theater"-scenes for MGS3, for those of you who have finished that. Some of those scenes are among the most hilarious things I've ever seen, so whether you've seen them before or not, GO SEE THEM NOW!! :)

Woops, didn't realize that it wasn't a direct link :P Anyhow, just click "Secret Theater", answer the questions correctly, and then you'll be able to see these awesome clips ;)

Yeah I've actually been waiting to buy the ps2 version for a while, but I think I'm just gonna get it off Steam and play it on PC again. Plus I have to set up my PayPal account anyway so I can snag this sweet Twin Peaks shirt, so that and Psychonauts will be the first things I get.

always behind schedule.

RE: TypeRacer

Fun game, I won first in all the races I competed in. I usually type properly with capitals, commas, 's, !s and all of that stuff, so that game was pretty easy. Fun all the less.

Throat Singing? WTF!?

*sigh* I just searched google for an hour and a half looking for a link to give you...but unfortunately I can't find one describing that band, so I'll just describe them as well as possible.

Ok, so throat singing (also known as Humai) is EXTREMELY weird. Its like...almost moaning in a rhythm. It was really weird because they would be doing their moaning and whistling at the same time. They were from Mongolia, and over there, they were famous and had "rock star" status. It was pretty entertaining, but extremely weird

Now this isn't the people that came to my school, but here is an example of throat singing (another 15 minutes looking for a good quality throat singing video that sounded like what I heard)

LINK

most of those sounds are coming from the mouth, besides the distinctive banjo sounding thing in the background

Re: Throat Singing

I am personally a fan of Mieskuoro Huutajat, a choir that performs by yelling instead of singing.

Ok, that is insane. I want to be in that choir, it would be AWESOME (plus I wouldn't have to sing)

Levels

Why are the level icons so...unbalanced. Like I swear levels 7, 8. and 9 are far worse and could hurt you more than ten

How could a hand with a wrist guard on it hurt more than brass knuckles, a glove with spikes on its knuckles, and a boxing glove with BARBED WIRE

Seriously, I feel weaker than I did a couple levels ago.

a few spammers share that account.. he was on the verge of being deleted briefly.. and so he/they switched gears and started posting their junk on peoples userpages instead.. you are your own boss of your userpage so if he bugs you just delete the comment and ban him.

I was just kinda wondering how they track down userpage posts so fast.... I just banned him anyway, because even though its not that annoying, it might be in the future

I've seen it before, or something dead similar.

It might of even been in Luis' inspiration pool thread.

levels
Looks like I'm the only one to actually love the underwater levels. Seriously - isn't there anyone else?

The music in DKC's underwater levels is amongst the best music in any game (along with the music from the starry stage in Sonic on MD/Genesis).

In Mario 64, I loved how the underwater levels just let me chill for a short while - it provided a nice tempo change and in that game, you feel totally in control when swimming. (As with flying, but without the tempo shift and laidback attitude.)

Minecart levels/slides for a bit of added speed and then an underwater level to chill out. If they weren't there, it'd be like a club night with no BPM variation! I find that exhausting after a few hours.
Pico
Why haven't there been Pico-day threads for 2007/2008 like there were for the first one?

I miss being able to see others' WIPs and getting reassured that my own graphics aren't all totally shit.

I love underwater levels, so your not alone. I like them a lot if they have some type of underwater sealife you can interact with, such as a seamonster or even just fish.

the threads were generally made to distribute the preloader, but since the preloader came in so late this year the pico day thread took a hit. :(

Ehh Pico Day is on a Wednesday. It would be way better if it was on a weekend or a Friday or something so that everyone would have time to submit there thing...I'm not saying this is a problem for me, but it must suck for everyone who works Wednesdays and then come home and not have time or something. I guess people work on Saturday's too, but theres more time on Saturday's
