In their collab posts? I mean, I understand that they are showing 10 empty slots but wouldn't it be better to just say, "there are 10 open slots" instead? It's not like people can go and put their names in these slots manually. I dunno, just an observation, maybe someone can cue me into this practice.

Depends on if its our music collab or not, the parts for music have to be numbered

Because, they are new enough that they don't understand you can edit posts in this forum. I guess they figure they want to edit in names without realizing they cannot edit.

Yeah, why don't we have the edit button, someone told me it was something about spammers typing stuff in and then editing it so no one will see it.

It actually works on smaller forums, with more knowledgeable people, where the person who'd sign would copy the list of the previous collaborator, and thus creating a list in the end so the leader doesn't have to go through the whole thread.

...But it doesn't really work on Newgrounds.

Plethoras of reasons. Think about all the problems people could cause, maybe not as much in here, but in General. Although, I'm not 100% against putting an edit your post for like a minute after you've made the post, such as if you forget a link or something.

Actually, no. It's a great air-raid big klaxon that tells me "this moron doesn't know what they're doing". Onesong collabs that split thier songs into X number of slots (either by lines or by random splits) that start with this immediately give off that "This is my first project" vibe. It also gives off that "I'm unoriginal, and don't have project management skills" feeling as well.

And woe betide anyone who doesn't attach the song they've split up somewhere on the net.

This is of course it's most ridiculous incarnation. It's cousins include the classic "fill out the form to become a member of my team" ones, or the ones where they've listed the entire song in lyric form and expect you to append your name at the end of one of the lines. Saying it's the least annoying thing is technically wrong, because it's the single first indicator of "this thread's going to be locked within 24 hours"

Interesting side note, none of the collabs I have been involved with ever had a thread. Bar SYCHO, and all I did was split the tracks.

I would disagree. It adds an air of professionalism to have a layout that someone can easily see, which is only good for a collab. I'm not saying that I'm in favour of it, but it's not a huge problem to have a list which gives an idea of how you're keeping track of things in the first post, and it's certainly going to keep all of the OCDers happy.

Stupid, pointless or unreliable collabs aren't defined by the structure of their first posts. It's generally just the vibe of the way the starter writes. An empty list might be seen as a symptom of that, but it's hardly the problem in itself.

Dubai is fucking mental, its just... surreal.

A short list of a few things about it:

5000 buildings currently under construction, with 2/3rd's of the words tallest cranes being used in the city.

the 7 star hotel, only one in the world, its top hotel, its like £30 (60$) for say, a tea or coffee just. and the rooms start at £2000/night rising to £25,000/night.

there is an under-water hotel, completely submerged.

the tallest tower in the world by quite a bit, still under construction, and built so as that if anyone rivals it, they can just keep making it taller for quite a while to go.

the indoor skiing, biggest in world (although still tiny really ;P) goes through 3500 barrels of oil a day for making the snow, nevermind the air conditioning to keep it at negative temperatures throughout the day even if its approaching 50 celsius outside.

Petrol is CHEAPER than water. o.O

Numbering slots on collabs

I dont mind em.. I think that in some collabs you've done a little headway before you actually make the topic so in that scenario it makes sense.. In my past time trials id scout out people way before i'd actually make the topic.

I think my one annoyance with collab starters is that they dont really think about the whole scope of the project.. like they have an initial idea and rather than planning out how to get the most interesting angle on it they just spaz out and post the usual heres some slots ... make shit.

Then again i cant blame em cause the ng audience seem to be fine with that presentation of random clips thrown together. o well

There are also those that have a really good idea for a collab, but when they go to make the thread about it the idea either doesn't come out right and sounds like shit. Or most of the others don't really like the idea so the thread pretty much dies. I know I have had some ideas for collabs, but when I went to make the thread the idea sounded really stupid.

I just hate it when people make really stupid collabs and are still aloud to go through with the idea. Some of the collab ideas are just a copy of another one that is still in the process of being made. Others are just make a random video and someone else can put it together. People are just too lazy to either do their own stuff, or just can't draw worth shit so they need to mooch off of others to get a decent score. Assuming that they actually get to make one and it gets submitted.

There are also the collabs that help people out, like the animation challenge (thanks to Rudy). I think that is an awesome idea. People get to post their work and improve everytime they work one it. I think there should be more like that to helpl people feel more confident about their work and abilites. Even the tutorial collabs, but they mostly jsut put a shit load of onfo that will help people in a way, but won't make them more confident in what they do, because most people will just copy and paste the code to finish up their projects.

I guess thats all I have to say about collabs for now.
