haha thats pretty much the same way I am, but I lurk more than post. Mostly because I'm not an expert at flash and I come here to learn stuffs, so I don't usually try to point someone to the right thing, because since its coming from me its going to be wrong. On occasion theres the "How do you make a button" thread, which I can answer (unless they want AS3 lol). But I am still on every day for a couple hours (actually all day, until I have to do somethin (like school)).

I wish some admin could check my logs too. I'm not saying I would be modded (even though I wish) but maybe they would like be proud or somethin or another lol. Which brings up another topic!

What Does It Take To Be A Mod

Alright, so I want to be a mod, as do almost every other person on this site right? So now jmbt, Luis, and Kirk, what does it take to be a mod. Why were you so special out of the whole 5,000+ newgrounders? I am not wondering because I'm gonna copy exactly what you did and hope to become a mod...but I am kinda wondering, what made you so special that an admin was like WOW! These people should be mods!

I'm pretty sure jmbt's has something to do with his awesome flashing

Whats it like to be a mod? Evark once told me it was boring and you barely had time to lurk and have fun on newgrounds. But I have to imagine having that power to ban people when they are spamming is pretty fun.

I'll probably either never be a mod. I don't answer questions on the forum or even help really. I kind of just do my own thing which is pretty much lurk mainly the flash, political, and sometimes the general forums while posting in the reg lounge here.
If I ever do become a mod, I'd probably fall into the "Lovable-Idiotic-Mod" catagory with all the other goofs. :P
...and all the other mods would make fun of my mullet till a new, new guy showed up. :(

Being a mod has it's ups and downs. You can't get banned (incidentally Captain Mountain Bike was the last person to ban me (PENIS)), but at the same time you can't really do shit that would result in a ban. Some many times I've started making a post only to ask myself WWDD? and end up not posting.

Hmm...I guess I'm kinda like you...I kinda just wanna be a mod so that I can be part of the community...but also for the e-bragging and all that.

If I became a mod I would probably either be hated a lot...or loved....I would either be too strict, or too easy goin...

And I would probably fail epicly at being a mod, I'd probably get de-modded 5 minutes after I got modded.

Yes, It happened a long time ago...but I'm happy for it. He gave me a 30 day without a warning for using an alt (when I was banned...but a 30 day...cmon?) when I posted in the flash forum, which was just kinda outta place...

I argued with him for a while about some bans I got and he was easy going till I asked him why he banned me and tom didn't (cuz it was in tom's topic) and he said:

"you're a fucking idiot. you're banned, fucking deal with it."

So I'm happy he's banned

Well a pointless reply doesn't result in a ban...so you wouldn't be breaking any rules so whats wrong with making a post like that? (whats WWDD anyway?)

And yeah not getting banned would always be a plus, but I guess if you deserve to get banned, you get de-modded right? They don't want a rule breaker enforcing rules.

Even with that being true...I would still want to be a mod, most people respect mods, and what you say go. The worst part about being a normal user is seeing spam and such, and not being able to do anything about it, you can't even post "Don't post spam" or you'll get banned.

Its kinda fucked up how if your not a mod you can't do ANYTHING to stop spam or something like that (I guess you can report it to mods...but by the time someone reads it it'll already be dead)

Ya I agree with NG-Unit on this shit. I think some of the mods can abuse their powers. I got a 3 day ben once because I posted a picture that I drew in the art forum, and got banned because they said I traced it. WTF I took over a year drawing the picture on to get a fucking ban, that is jsut retarded. I don't think I have had any problems with mods other than that one. It would be really cool if Denvish was back, he was an awesome mod. Contributing all that usefull information and stuff on the As:Main and many others I am too lazy to name.

The funny thing is, the 2 people who aren't 6th graders love me too, and they are in my grade.

The thing is...all 6th graders who meet me or talk to me on msn love me the first day they meet me or talk to me. So far I have a little fan club consisting of...five 6th graders, one fifth grader, and one 7th grader...

Mine's a reference to Mario Kart -- the 64 version was the very first console game I ever received, thus I played it to near-godlike abilities (well, at least I like to think that; I was about 6 or 7 at the time). I used it as my alias for MKDS, and I decided to have that as my alias here as well.

I'd say he was one of the best General forum mods ever. Yes, he had a hard-ass persona, and that's the primary reason why General isn't more of a cesspool of spam and useless crap than it already is. He was like a short-fused janitor that still knew what he was doing. I guess, using that example, he got tired of baby-sitting and quit when he was still young or something.

And yes, Denvish was awesome. ;(

Thats kinda why I left general (the spam and stuff) it was just getting annoying, plus seeing the same stuff day after day...At least in the flash stuff you get a chance to help people, and you rarely see the same stuff (except for noob stuff)

That's not specific to mods, though. I find myself doing it too. I remember that time when Luis was on hols or something (I think it was 07/07/07), and I wasn't going to get any sleep that night, so I announced my intention to get from post 7,000 to 7,777 before the day was up - lots of General peeps could manage it, so it can't be that difficult.

I got about 100-ish posts in before giving up. You'd think making short, useless posts would be easy, but once you're in a habit of being as constructive as possible when you post, it makes you feel really dirty to go back to being bugger all help.
