They're very trite. The entire time, you get the impression that the writer who was creating the movie thought he was the most intellegent being in the entire world. Generally, the hooks and twists are well... okay... but the dialogue is some of the saddest things I've ever witnessed.

The movies just come off as... I don't know... It reminds me of someone trying to prove a fact, but never giving any surefire evidence. Same feeling.

They can be gorey at times... and somewhat entertaining...

But in no way breakthough or intellegent.

I only saw the second one (in the theatre), it was laughable full of holes and bad acting... the only thing I really enjoyed out of it was getting to watch that do gooding bitch from 7th Heaven die, which was actually worth it all to me! =p

By the way, this is something that really bothers me a lot about the second movie:
If there was a note that says not to open the door, you're in a pretty questionable situation to begin with, and you decide to open the door anyway, who in the hell wouldn't do it cautiously? I mean, wouldn't you stand on the side of it against the wall and reach over to the doorknob? I guess only people in bad movies look through the peephole, huh?

Still, bad movies are still fun to watch. I'm not that big on gore films (especially the crap that's been coming out lately), but how was Saw III?

The same as the other 2.

SPOILER!!!! DON"T READ IF YOU CARE.

If you know the thing around your neck is going to blow up if the dude dies... and you have enough strength to talk.... wouldn't that be the first thing you tell your hubby? I'd say that's pretty important news when he wants to kill the other guy. Or wouldn't the husband say "Hey bitch, what's that necklance?"

END OF SPOILER!!!

I'm not one to pick apart small details in movies UNLESS of course the movies themselves come off as super intellegent. If you're going to write a movie with crazy twists and an anti-hero who is brilliant... you're plot shouldn't be able to be picked apart by some teenagers and a municiple worker.

Oh, well... I guess that's too bad.
Yeah, about what you said for Saw III... I couldn't have said it any better myself. These movies are like the modern version of slowly lowering the hero into a vat of acid and then walking off into some other room so they can devise a way to save themselves instead of just putting a bullet in their head. Chances are, I'm not going to ever see Saw III... I'm not really proactive when it comes to going out. Hell, I want to see Borat but I know myself too well to say that there's a good chance I never will. It's a miracle I actually went to Spike and Mike last weekend, and I live that every year.

Why is everyone singing that game's praises. I will go with this review...

Great programming.
Amazing art.
Great, atmophericmusic.
Unique gameplay.
Not fun....

I think the game was executed amazing... I just don't think its any fun.

I don't like getting frustrated just by moving or trying to pick something up.

If I want to do that, I'll get really, really, really drunk and try to pick ticks off my asshairs.

I think it deserves some acclaim for the talent that went into it, but that is easily the 4th or 5th time today I've heard someone mention it. Personally, I played "Paintball- the game" longer than tri, but I don't see anyone talking about that game. I thought it was more fun.

Why? Is it about graphics or physics?
Have games lost their most fundemental purpose? Fun?

but i have to say, i dont think its fair when a game like Avalanche gets more praise then Tri-acnid. I would not be caught dead saying Avalanch deserves any better because its slightly more addicting....

and im comparing these two because there just ragdoll games, but actuall work was put into one of them.

Tri-acnid was neat, but as a game I agree that it wasn't too fun. It's the kind of thing I would have had more fun with if it it was just a free-form, do whatever you want, figure it out yourself type of thing, rather than a structured game.

Wow, that is a beautiful game! I'd have to play it a lot more to come to any kind of conclusion about it as far as the current argument is concerned, but I certainly can see how it could lose the fundamental point of a game, being simply entertainment. Honestly though, I'm probably going to come out of the debate as a major supporter... meaning, I think I could enjoy playing for a good 20 minutes instead of 10.
Other than that, I think the music, colors, style, and graphics are amazing. I'd really like to work with somebody on something like that in the future.

I guess while we're on the topic, I thought this game was great. It actually kind of gives me chills to play, it's all lonely and cold, and the music... if you could call it that, is great:

Sorry if I'm bringing up yesterday's paper... I pride myself on being comfortably out of the loop sometimes. =p

I agree you 100%. I played it for like 15 minutes and then I got bored. I just think as you said, it was too scrutured and would have been alot better if the levels had been less obvious as to what you should do. Given the physics and how the character moved it had alot more potential in my opinion.

I dont know if this has been discussed yet but what did you guys think of the Bubble 2 game?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2006-11-06 00:55:23

I loved Tri-acnid. I wish I had the time to keep playing but I didn't. Also the music in that game, Tin Hat Trio, really suited it nicely. It's one of the top Flash games around in my opinion, no doubt.

Meh...I mean it was okay. Got off to a slow start I thought and that just ruined the rest for me. I really enjoyed the other two new games on the FP. Soap Bubble 2 and Red Baron.
I thought the pixel artist who did Red Baron was very very talented and I was really attracted to how the game played, the enemies, etc. Soap Bubble 2 was just extremely challenging and alot better graphically and play wise than the first.

I wanna know if it is worth clogging my interwebs for it, most Mindchamber things are but this is pretty big if you ask me.

yes Red Baron is worth changing your browser. I think it is one of the most fun games I have played in awhile on here. If you ever played Buzzwerd's old game Kogent Knight (or however it was spelled) it is kinda like that but increased in 1337ness by 500.

Yeah the music was a great choice and the graphics/physics/as are all amazing and worth staring at with doe eyes. But I just kind of wanted to explore and see what I could do rather than be in a confined space and do stuff with my egg sack. =D
