Tea
I love tea. Tea is awesome. It's great how brewed plant leaves in plain old water can make some good-tasting liquid. I tend to drink green tea the most.
The only kind of tea I hate are those crappy-tasting fruit teas. Ick, I hate them. Anyone here like them?

During the summer, mint grows in my backyard. It's fucking awesome. Also, if you want to be adventurous, try some Stinging Nettle tea. Just be careful while collecting it :3 That can be pretty tasty with a hint of sugar and a little fresh raspberry.
As far as fruit tasting goes, it needs to be mild. Some shit goes over the top, but one of the other teas I like is Celestial Seasonings' Lemon Zinger (which really isn't very lemon-y, just a delicious red tea).

Mint is good. I tried some stinging nettle tea once, I think, it had an interesting flavor and was quite scrumptious with biscuits.

Yeah, tea mixed with lemon is pretty good. I have a bias for those berry teas (ie. raspberry, blackberry) because the lot I've tried tasted something like the contents of a septic tank generously sprinkled with sugar.

LEARNING GUITAR:
I recently got an electric guitar. One of my goals this year is to learn to play it. It came with a DVD and I've been watching it and practicing what little I can.
I've learned E, A, D "power chords" (whatever those are).
Anyone have advice for a beginning guitar wanna be? I'm also curious how long I should practice and how long I can expect to practice before stuff starts "clicking."
Re: Learning guitar
Have you got any other musical experience? Because the theory follows over from that. Honestly, if you use resources like wikipedia and google well, and are dedicated to learning you can have the basics down pretty quickly.
Also, I suggest you invest in guitar pro software, it makes learning a LOT easier.
I get 20 minute a week lessons at school. When its time for my lesson, I go out of lesson for 20 minutes and back again after.
Im still a beginner so I can only play grade 2 stuff :(

I have no musical background whatsoever, so I'm a little intimidated.
I looked up guitar pro software and it looks like a composing tool, you're saying it has features to help you learn too?

Its sort of a composing tool, but its based around the guitar. It has fretboard and stores the tab for whatever you compose. So, someone could send you a gp5 tab of a bunch of different chords, you can look at the fretboard, arrange your fingers, and play it. It sorta gives you a more visual representation of chords.

Laaaaaaameee.
loljk. I have a load of that stuff I nicked from my dad's CD collection. It's actually really good for keeping you both away from boredom and in a creative mood. I should probably get some more, actually.
At the moment I generally stick something mildly informative but unimportant on TV, like one of those reality police shows or some documentary on some war or other. Failing those, news 24 is always a decent option, although I do occasionally get annoyed and lose focus if I think a report is too right-wing :P

Id say the best way to learn was just to play as much as possible. And learning chords is important, but you wont really get into it until you start learning songs.
Learn the old simple classics like "smoke on the water" and "smells like teen spirit" and youll soon get into the spirit!
And yeah guitar pro is a realy helpful program. I would try out Power Tab first before though. Its pretty much the same as guitar pro but its freeware, and there seems to be more tabs for it nowadays. Basically what it does is, once youve found a powertab for a song you want to learn off a website like Ultimate Guitar, it plays the song and also shows you the tablature as its playing.
Really useful and a lot easier than just readin plain tabs, as the timing can sometimes get confusing.

Obviously I'm failing hard right now but I just wanted to post this up. What kinds of things do you do to keep focus. At the moment I'm just sitting in my room alone with my pc and flash opened on my three projects so I can switch back and forth and keep creativity flowing. Also, I've got iTunes opened and I'm listening to some classical music. Moonlight sonata is from Beethoven :) But what helps me to stay focused is to work on an animation for like 45 minutes and then take a short 20 minute break (away from the computer) and then repeat this routine. Good music also helps :)

Hehe I started learning guitar too a few months ago. I found just starting with easy guitar tabs is the best way to go and just get stuck into it. Look up how to read guitar tabs, its very simple and then google smoke on the water guitar tab and nursery rhymes to get started. Once you play a simple one quickly, the first bit clicks that you just played something and motivates you.
I kind started organising songs in folders, very easy, easy etc. In a guitar hero setting lol :P keeps u moptivated when u can look at the file and go yay i can now play 20 things.
Guitar
I tried out that whole guitar thing for a year. I got a guitar for my birthday, got lessons, jammed with friends, the whole deal. It kind of grew out of me and I don't care for it much anymore, but I am envious of people that stuck with and are pretty good today. I'd much prefer if I had started learning piano at a young age. I really wish I could play really well. I love piano and it's so useful.
Anyways, about guitar, if you want to learn songs quickly, then go the tab route, it's easy to pick up and really fast to learn and memorize (usually). However, if you want to become a MUSICIAN, i can only stress that you learn how to play sheet music (with notes, not tabs). Someone else said music theory is important aswell and they were right. Sure you can learn plenty of music from just figuring out the fingerings from tabs, but there is so much more you can when learning from sheet music and playing the guitar how it's supposed to be made.
Of course...going the later route is a bitch and takes longer to learn. Most people just want to have fun and learn songs quickly...thats what I did at least.
Guitar
By coincidence I started playing guitar again yesterday. I got an electric guitar a good 2 years ago but I've spent far too little time on it. It frustrates me that I'll never be able to play as good as I want to. I started playing keyboard when I was 6, had lessons until I was 17 so I'm okay at that, I've good a good feeling for rhythm and I can read sheet music obviously. I only wished my parents forced me to start playing guitar instead of keyboard when I was 6. I could have been the next Jimi Hendrix by know, always high/drunk and plenty of women to go around...
guitar
Learned for a while, was talented, got boring, stopped learning and forgot everything...(i arranged the sentence this way on purpose).
Guitar
I tried learning the Guitar once. I could play a few songs, but never got anywhere major before I gave up. I'm just not the instrument type I guess. Now the Guitar just sits in it's stand and looks pretty.
The only Guitar I play now has 5 color coded buttons.

If you were "talented" i dont see how it could get boring. Thats the thing, the more you play the better you get, so you can play and write more complex and interesting things.

Lol i will answer both you and the post before.
it was pretty boring i learned the stuff fast but the songs were stupid and it wasn't fun practicing, so i just stopped gave my guitar back to my cousin and don't regret it even a little bit. my cousin is really good though is been playing for 5 years now.
the bottom point believe me or not i don't care because ooh, i don't know how to play a guitar that is boring...well i don't even remember the accords another reason i think i quited is that my teacher was annoying...anyway those of you who play i think that you waste precious time...you should ask yourself in the following order, do you enjoy playing the guitar ? do you enjoy the sounds it makes or only the fact that playing the guitar is "cool" and people look up to you and shit ?
Learning Guitar
I actually started on a Ukelele, and never went forward from that. I was going to learn the four-string then move up to the six-string, but got too involved with the Ukelele. Now that's the only instrument I know how to play :).
Hi there!
RE: Guitar
I started learning guitar when I was about 16, and had one 1 hour lesson a week. The best advice I can can give is to practice for at least an hour a day. I don't practice much anymore and it shows. I was a lot better when I was 18 than I am now. I'm actually better at Guitar Hero than guitar now...

If the guitarist is skilled enough the guitar is one of the best sounding instruments there is, plus it can be used in lot's of genres of music, it just takes a lot of time to get there.

The Star Trek ship in the background is pretty epic. lol.
Video Games Live
So i whent to vidfeo games live Sunday night in Edmonton (Orchestrated Game music). It was fucking amazing. Besides having a few annoying nerd type people, it was perfect. They even had that guy who plays Mario songs blindfolded on you tube. He's fucking good.
It was also the first time that the concert ever played metroid music. Which was sweet.
Anyone else ever go to one of these?
