Pixar uses tweens two (i am not talking about how ugly 3d is right now).
His animation are very good and i can't see why you are saying this, although he uses tweens the spacing is right his got anticipation
Please if you post that you disagree please post why, don't post: i study animation therefor i know better...also what makes you say he is a bad animator ?
The laws of animation are more guidelines then laws, if someone doesn't use anticipation for example but his animations look good he is a good animator.
Can't you just type a normal paragraph? Haha, I tried for a little bit to block up all the separate lines, but it's too much work just to quote you. Uh, first of all I believe what MRat is talking about when he says "bad animator" is the fact that animation is generally thought of as traditional, paper animation where all you have is a pencil and it's your/your pencil's job to make the character move and it's all FBF and there's generally no "tweening" allowed.
First off, your right but mostly wrong about Pixar using "tweens", they use in-house software called Marionette that allows animators to translate their 2-dimensional line drawings pretty fluidly into 3D and yes they do tweening in a sense - tweening stands for "In-between (ing)" where you just draw the frames of movement in between two "Keyframes", which are the two extremes of the motion being completed. However, they really don't use the computer to draw those frames in, they're very nostalgic in how they do things and stick to the original/traditional Disney way of animating, which is a large part of why their Feature Animations are such a higher caliber of quality then all the other 3-D recycled garbage that gets spewed out.
As far as JohnnyUtah goes, is he a bad animator in that sense? Sure, but he's a damn good artist, one of my favorites of anywhere, and if he has tween his drawings to get it how he wants then that's fine with me, I just to love to see anything done by him.
Artists
People I like here on NG - Eric Drobile, Ed Skudder (LeftFootFirst), Mindchamber, Luis, Marc M, AlantheBox, I'm probably forgetting a few...Anyways, in terms of new talent, I haven't really seen anyone lately that I could file under Up and Coming, but I guess I'd say people you see in Pass the Flash and more high-level collabs like One O Clock Jump would give you a pretty good idea. Nathaniel Milburn's probably one, I'd like to see more from MRat too, I think he's in that category as well.
