Thats irrelevant. you shouldnt be working towards a prize anyway.
To be honest, if I spend a long time on an animation, I find good reviews much more rewarding than a high scores or tons of views. If you have a couple of people saying "I loved this, wached it 5 times, i love your style", thats a lot more rewarding than the 50 "LOL THAT WAS WELL GOOD (insert quote from movie here)" comments youd get from something like MGA

I kinda agree with you. I look forward to reading the review when i submit but i also hope to see a decent score. However, I'm not one of the people that watches the score continually. I take a look when its out of the portal and that's about it. I do check back for reviews though. :)

Cartoon/Live Action Mix
I don't think that this is unique at all anymore. There have been lots of movies that feature cartoons alongside live action. I do like the recent occurrence of these movies on newgrounds though. Most of them are good but every once a while i see a copy animation that completely fails...

I never said it never brought Flash developers together and inspired to create something. But I still personally think, we have a bit too much NG Days, but that's just my opinion. I don't quite know, I just think it's too much. I do honestly get really inspired by alot of themes from NG, like Pico Day for example, but that's another story. It brings inspiration, but if it gets out of hand, it's going to get annoying and overdone.

Cartoon and Live Action Flashes
Well, I do believe that there is still life in this genre. After all, it very well could be exhausted in terms of animations, but what about games? I've only heard of one game that combines live action with animation (the Toon Crisis games), but what if you could expand it to being a platformer or something? That could be very interesting...

Christmas game on the way from me and Glaiel, we thought we'd jump on the bandwagon and make an epic trailer for our dinky flash game:

Papervision Conference

I have seen the light. It is AS3. It is Flex Builder 2.
Oh, and it is Phong Shaded planet Earths with bump-maps of the Newgrounds Tank over North America...

Hows that going by the way? Worth the £300 after all?

Tom-

As a double introduction to the wonderful worlds that are Actionscript 3 and Papervision, it was worth every penny and the horrific conditions of the London Underground's Central Line. Ralph (unitzeroone, and one of Papervision's inner team members) blazed through every topic barely giving us time to think, but covered so much ground so quickly that I think I actually managed to learn something.

I'm now back at work letting it all sink in, but the conference was cool. Learning the Papervision 2.0 API is a heavy recommendation for any actionscripter out there - I'm waiting to see people use it in the Portal (which should be challenging... obviously we can't import external 3d models with one-swf files, but I'm sure people can get away with using primatives)

God the ground covered. Going from "Hi, this is Papervision, this is how you make the Earth appear on your screen" to "Okay now we've got all the different primatives in this viewport, but THIS viewport is actually bitmap data which reads THAT viewport and makes a trail blur effect, and every time we click on them the camera focuses on them and this is how we draw on thier surfaces and look, we have a particle field being rendered in the viewport behind..." in two days... that was great.

Plus, Flex is awesome.

Interviews
I was thinking last night about how awesome it would be to start interviewing Flash developers, and feature them somewhere on this site. I think people genuinely want to hear what these fantastic devs want to say.

I know, I know, the NG Mag exists... but it doesn't really, does it?

NG Mini Mag

I remember seeing the new NGMag design before the redesign was even announced, I'm not sure why its still in the old design :S.

But anyway, i like the idea, maybe if tom let mods post on the front page, it could be a bi-monthly thing. There are plenty of flash artists around, and it would be a good way of exposing some new talent to the public, rather than interviewing more well known authors such as yourself.

Why not pm tom?

You don't happen to have a video do you? I played around with papervision, its incredibly fun to use, almost limitless capabilities.

Good call meebs, wtf do you mean as-soul, by "truly good." My Newgrounds was a great use of combining video with flash. "Truly good" just makes no sense to say at all...

Iiiiiii remember that! I have a question about it though, how are the video's cut out so perfectly from their backgrounds? Was it using a green screen? If it was was the background cut out in Flash or before the videos were imported? HOW DOES THIS MOVIE WORK??

I'm assuming he used a green screen, but It doesn't say in the description or anything, so the world will never know!
It's Weebl's little secret!

And yes, I made a cock joke.

Video game conversation should be extremely limited or tossed to the sharks in General. The problem is that once we start a video game conversation in here, it becomes a 4 day conversation about random video game stuff and everyone ends up sad.

Aids makes me sad ='(

MyNG sparked the idea of using animation with video and I think we can all expect to see a ton of poorly done youtube style videos with small bits of animation over it.

The only articles I've read from NG Mag were interviews. The problem is they are few and far, and only if users are interested in putting an effort into an article. Maybe if some users took some kind of an initiative to write annual interviews, and then have a topic on the article on the board that could generate interest it could increase the interview popularity on newgrounds.

Oh, okay that's cool. I'm sure it's redesign will be finished right after him & MC finish Pico 2. :)

I been thinking of holding interviews on my site after it's redesign... though they seem like a bit of work... however I absolutely adore talking to poeples in the flash biz. ^_^
