Well... Im gonna make a post and people will contribute to games/movies ect.. and get them sponsered and I might throw im some contest on the way through and just help people raise money to go!

My Newgrounds
I found that relieving. I don't watch much on newgrounds anymore because I find a lot of it bores me but that was smooth nice and cool. I really enjoyed it. Also I like his voice. Probably because I'm used to Australian ones.

The fact that his last line was "What's your newgrounds?", makes me want to do my own but I'd feel like I was just ripping him off unless a whole bunch of people did them. So I'm going to propose something, who would like to make a day out of it, just a few people from the flash forum make their own and we all submit them on the same day? Would anybody else participate?

That would be awesome; id do it. I wonder how hard it is though.... on the surface it looks like a piece of cake and he makes it seem so effortless and natural.. i imagine theres more to it than meets the eye.

Stilll though i think itd be a cool idea to have a slew of personalities... ill bet you could even get tom to participate in it. (dont quote me on that, i think hes like super swamped this month)

Anyone play any sports? Baseball, basketball, dodgeball, football, umm... some other sport with ball? ...Cricket?
I tried out basketball, failed horribly... Could jump, could run, but couldn't catch worth shit.

The only sport I've ever been good at was performing wrestling but I already went on 'bout that a few pages back I think.
...wonder if I'm good at boxing, it always seemed like fun. Hehe, if I'm ever in Philly I shall challage MindChamber to a boxing match! Just because... that way I can say "OH yeah? My New Grounds

I LOVED it. It's not exactly a new idea, though. It's clearly inspired by the "I'm a PC/I'm a Mac" commercials but that's not to say his execution wasn't phenomenal. Mixing video with Flash isn't THAT difficult especially now so with Flash updated video features and stuff in CS3. In my opinion the only hard part about it is keeping all the Flash drawings in sync with the minute movement variations of hands and other human features. It's impossible to hold your hand still in front of a camera and you have to make the minor adjustments to make (ie, the face talking out of his hand) certain scenes make sense and look natural.

I'd definitely love to try something like that, and with it's huge success, there will DEFINITELY be more of these. I can definitely see this turning into a "My New Grounds" Day. 12/8 SAVE THE DATE

Animation on Video

So Animation Invasion was really successful, now My Newgrounds is really successful, and BritishMoose...although he already shamelessly mentioned it today, made a webcam and animation combination for a great score. I had kind of thought of doing animation on video, I think it's pretty cool that other people are doing it. I'm not really sure where I'm going with this...so feel free to add your own thoughts or whatever, what you think would be cool, what ideas you have or what could be done with it...I dunno...

I wouldn't call it original. It's basically an exact copy of the HP commercial.. It is very well executed though and the humor is cool and subtle.
I think it is very easy to copy existing concepts into flash and score big points with it, but in my opinion it is alot cooler to figure out your own ones.

i think it was a typo. its the HP definately. I dont think he was out to do anything groundbreaking or even original, i think he is an example of a user who saw a way to show how much he enjoys the site based on a commercial that he felt could be rigged to express himself.

In a way thats what i do in my own work.. i look through songs that already exist and find ways to make it tell the story i want it to. I think in the end its all about the animators take on something.. and not so much hey im gonna be the next jesus christ and make it all from scratch. I had fun with it.

Is it original, probably not, but its faithful to what he wanted to express, in the end i came away knowing a bit more about alan awesome and what he does for a living and what he likes about the site and if that was his goal then mission accomplished.

Yeah that's true. I mean it's not particularly bad or anything, i still would give it a 6 or 7, but if he came up with that idea i would give it a 10. Especially because that particular animation is a concept flash, it doesn't rely on great visuals or gorgeous animation, but on a solid concept. Only the concept isn't his. I don't really see the point in exactly replicating something, I mean where is the artists take in that?
Other concept flashes that i really adore on the other hand are dustball's 'play' or 'future' by celarent.
I'm just an artist who holds originality in high regard i guess.
