That was beautifully sad. At some point weren't all deserts oceans...or something? You could have a fossil fish, does that count?

I forgot to mention, the money I'm getting is going to my ball-pond (for those who dont know what one is, here's a picture of a very big one) in my room fund. I'm going to make a small bed-size cage thing, and fill it with 2115 balls, and enjoy. Its gunna cost me £169, and its a lot better than a sofa.

Can you get squishy balls?

It doesn't seem as comfy for watching a screen/playing computer games, but def. more fun and unique!

Can I visit?

Btw, congrats.

Lol, what I meant to say there was I've given up for now, at least until I get out of high school.

That's what happens when your rushing to make a post :S

You mean like sponge balls? Probably, but I'm not gunna, cos they're harder to find and not as fun.

I'm gunna put a mattress under the balls, so it'll be comfy and I can sleep in it. It'll be so awesome.

Can I visit?

Havent got it yet, but I'm getting this extra money in about January , so it should be done by Feb. But you still cant come, it'll be weird:

Parents: John, who's this guy at the door asking for "trig1"?
Me: Oh, its this guy from the internet who just wants to play in my ball pond.
Parents: Well, as long as he isn't a paedophile....

Sorry :P

Animated Books/Comics

Did any of you guys think or wanted to see your favorite comic or book animated? I always thought it would be cool to turn short stories into short animations or maybe even random comics. I always find it very interesting to read the original book and see it brought into an animation or the other way around with the whole comic deal.

It's just a cool thought. I always wanted to find a comic and just animate it -- that's always fun. I wanted to animate the story to "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" but I don't know yet. Maybe even the book, "When it Happens." Both of them involve the aspects of teenage life, but they're pretty interesting.

What do you guys think?

Animated Graphic Novel

I was actually playing with the idea of animating a book/comic but more in a graphic novel type form. It'd be more interactive, so it'd show one scene of basically a "static" background and have some type of narration. I don't think I'd use a continue button or anything, but the scenes would be more like ZeeBarf's "The Visitor" - they'd have minimal movement but still have the feel like something was happening. I was gonna do Poe's "The Raven" or something like that with a nice spooky feel for Halloween but I just didn't get around to it, I could always come back to it though. Is there anything like this out already? I don't think I've ever seen something like it.

always behind schedule.

Annual site drive

So, I'm pretty much through the most essential parts of updating my website (apart from the horrible temporary post box):

http://www.brainflay.com/

...and there's a few things I need before it's complete.

o Some new affiliates

All my old ones seem to have died...

o Some actual content

If anyone's happy for me to host some of their Flash works (animations, preferable), don't hesitate to contact me. If has to be something I actually like, otherwise there wouldn't be much point putting it up on my site, but I have a wide range of tastes and I'm going to end up gushing in the descriptions one way or another. Right now my pages are a little barren :s

I personally think that even though there's only around 4 animations, having other folks' could dilute what your website is about. Do you want to just make a website with a bunch of entertaining flash things on it or do you want it to be a website to showcase your own skills/creations? If the latter then keep it exclusively related to you.

Well, I was thinking of just sticking one or two animations by other people that reallllly caught my eye. I don't want to just dilute everything, but I don't see the haaaarm in hosting anything wich really strikes me as goosed every now and again!!!!!!1`32`43215t6"!!32`5

When I first started my site I was planning to host other people's games and animations too, but as my site developed I decided to turn it into just a personal showcase. It feels more special that way.

I used to feel that way but as I've gone through different versions of my site over the years my feeling on what i want my website to convey has changed.

I came to realize that i cant release cartoons often enough to satisfy the neverending hunger of the web audience and in between that time between movies i should have 'something' to keep someone coming back on a semi regular basis. So my site is less of just a showcase.. and more a open diary.. of what im up to.. be it flash or not.. what movies I like that i think maybe others might like... what artists I enjoy, what they are up to.. etc etc.. id like to think i was put on this earth for more than just making flash things.

I'm okay with having/hosting other peoples work but the key is to not have it be so heavy that your site is just a portal and you start to lose your own voice.

RE: Punk-o-matic

That's pretty cool. It's kinda weird seeing as there aren't that many riffs and stuff, but I do like it a lot. I think that some of the drum things could be a little bit better though. Maybe a constant beat.

Instruments

I play drums and saxaphone. Had a gig tonight where I was drums, brother was saxaphone, and friend was piano...what do you guys play?

FUNNY GIRL STORY

So my (older) brother saw these two girls that walked in and out like ten times and so we figured that they had liked us, seeing as they were staring at us. So the funny part is that after we played, my brother told me go up to them seeing as I'm not taken, unlike him. Well, anyways, I went up to them about to give them my number, and talked for about five minutes, but eventually just told her my name. So then all of a sudden like two hours later I went on to facebook and oddly enough, she friended me. Weird ain't it. She's kinda hot too.

Wow, this was mostly involving music...hmmmm!

I would hardly say it was a funny story, but meh.

I thought about adding a chick i liked to facebook, but would rather not seem like a nerd stalker that needs a computer to communicate with them. So i chose against doing it. But ofcourse its different when a chick does it. Then its just cool. : P

I think that personally i would really like to work with flash in like a studio work environment. I plan on Majoring in animation in college (just got in WOOT!) and i hope to get a job at a studio that uses it. Lately I've been seeing it used for more and more professional shows, and i think it is a great program that really helps expediate the whole animation process. So I'm pretty excited to use flash as a career.

RE: Flash

Well I'm currently working on a project which should be finished very soon, it's actually coming along much quickly than I'd anticipated :).

I made a front-page post about it, and was going to make another yesterday for testing the first part but according to the news post I'm not popular enough :S...

Test it if you want.

Other than that, I'm working on various collaborative projects with other people, and constantly planning my next games :P.

£169 was the price for the balls on the ball number generator. I cant find a decent mass ball buy play, but the best so far is ebay, where you can buy lots for pretty cheap (part from the postage).

Anyway, enough of the ball pits, I don't want it to become my mullet and pickles.

Sleepy Time

So like this morning i had an argument with my friend about this so i figured id throw it into this thread.
Basically I find the idea of pajamas stupid. You designate clothes specific for sleeping... cmon thats dumb isnt it. I mean if im wearing a dress shirt or something ill like put on a t-shirt. But i dont like literally change into a new wardrobe just to sleep. What about you.

PJ's

PJ's were the shit when you were a nipper. I had some bad ass Tazz PJ's at one point. And some awesome Thomas the Tanks ones when I was REALLY young. I don't own actual pajamas any more, but I do have a few old tshirts I sleep in (mainly a Carling Extra Cold t-shirt (Beer paraphernalia ftw!)). It's good to get out of the stuff you've been wearing all day and getting in to something old and comfy ('cos my house is too cold to sleep naked). So no, it's not stupid to have clothes specificly for sleeping. You're mate is on to something.

I agree with you luis! I don't "bring pajamas" when I go crash at someone elses house, I just wear what I always wear. Boxers and a shirt. (at my house, not even a shirt). Although if it's really cold I might wear some sweatpants or pajama pants.

..::pj's::..

I like flannel pajama pants, they're warm and soft. I see a lot of people walking around in pajama pants on the street, so that's kind of an inverse thing... practical application of pajama pants, but people do look silly wearing them outside... I tend to crash in whatever I'm wearing but i'll take off anything that has buttons or zippers or any other uncomfortable thing and throw on something that doesn't.

my house gets pretty cold at night even with my nice thick duvet, i tend to wear what the label would call 'lounge pants' soft cotton pants that are just really comfy and much warmer than just wearing boxers, and more sanitary aswell, why would you want to wear boxers you've been wearing all day long, and don't deny it, you don't always get every drop out before it goes back in ;p

also, those pants + a nice thick dressing gown = love ;)

whenever i kip at a friends i usually end up just falling alseep wearing whatever is currently on me
