I figured i'd self plug my site, cause I'm soft launching it today. Most of the site is fully functional.. still have a bunch of interviews to transfer over and more affiliates to add but if you feel like being affiliated let me know......

www.brainwashstudios.com

Old version felt more like, legit (I don't know what I mean by that), with the changing banner ad, for your own animatinos. New ones cool but old one was terrific.
I might just be anti change or something.

Thanks for updating the Aotm, rtil sure wrote alot which made me happy =D.

..::Brainwash Studios 4.0::..

Good stuff, Luis. I have no idea how the Hell you accomplish so much all the time, you're the ever present moderator in Flash, you make your own movies and game graphics and shit like that, you have your own, not-out-of-date website which you've just improved on, you do those AOTM interviews, you have these massive scale collaborative efforts going on and you still make the time for porn and meet ups (and sometimes combine them on PoxPower's forehead). What the fuck?

All I ever have time for is modding the art forum and.. well... let's just call it "work." I must be crazy lazy.

Brainwashing
Its a theme I'm seeing nowadays. If you're a Flash professional, your site must now look like Generic Wordpress Blog...

And hey, it works for some people. But I don't like seeing it for everyone, and I ESPECIALLY don't think it works for animators. Text may still be king on the web, but text isn't what you're trying to show off here. I'd personally prefer animator's sites looked like the sites for [Adult Swim] and The Daily Show than Wikipedia - putting the links to the content (and often the content itself) straight in front of the user, rather than having them find where it is after reading your contribution to the interblagosphere.

I prefered the old Flash one two iterations back

On the subject of websites...

I should have mine up again and redesigned in a week or so. With totally valid CSS and shizz this time, too. So far the colour scheme's looking a little like a rhubarb-custard :S

Brainwash Studios

Its a really nice design, very professional. You should add an 'about' page and maybe a pseudo store, for stickers and such. And make the text at the top (on the banner) unselectable.

i like the blog presentation format. I was originally inspired to persue it by going to johnny utah's site. TO ME it feels more personal, like youre actually tapping to the voice of the artist. Its all fun and games to give people your animations and all that but at the end you are a human being and a person. I dont find that Adult Swim or Cartoon Network have a person behind the wares. Its like hay im here to entertain you. I feel like by upgrading my site to a blog format, i feel like i can take control of all aspects of my site and pop in give you my two cents and be on my way.

I can concentrate on things I like, show you things MY way and how I want to. Im no longer after a job or projects, this is my little soap box and for that i think my site fits my needs. I have nobody i want to impress or prove myself to. I wanted my site to stop being brainwash studios-like and be more like im luis this is my shit this is how i feel....these are people im inspired by...

Even my userpage has transformed into that mentality, My headers and sigs are all featuring work by other illustrators i enjoy. Its one thing about the flash scene i want to break its the me me me me attitude. its stupid, theres plenty of fame and fortune for everyone, people are so territorial as if someone is going to come and eat off of your plate. i could go on for ages.

Sweet, it's already on the front page, I imagine it will be there for awhile. It has minimum system requirements that exceed my computer here, but it ran just fine in my opinion.

Waterlollies

4.73? 9.91/10 for reviews? That's ridiculous. I would say it should be about 4.5ish.

Amazing animation though (obviously).

It'll settle much lower. Littlefoot came out from under-judgment with around 4.71, maybe higher. Scores are almost always inflated when they're first emerging from UJ.

3d Logic
Interesting article going on JayIsGames. Apparently 3d Logic wasn't the first of it's kind.

The similarities are impeccable. Not trying to start a riot, but for a game of such popularity, I almost wish the author credited the original.

I beg to differ. I caught so much flak over the Four Second games, because I didn't say anything about its similarities to Wariowares. And Portal: The Flash Version credited Valve several times, and is still doing well.

Yeah, 3D logic was debated when the first one came out for being a knockoff. Oh well, lots of games and movies are knockoffs, ain't nothin we can do about it except continue trying to make original stuff and hope it gets noticed.

I uploaded a bunch of pics from the Toronto shindig via my Facebook if anyone wants to know what we were up to this weekend. All in all pretty laid back and chill group. I'm gonna take a sweater next time. I have a cold now.

I have to agree, I like that no matter where you pause it, it could just as easily be an illustration, because all the lines and colors are virtually perfect. Those water drops in the beginning were incredible. A few reviews I saw were complaining about the ending, and I have to admit, I wasn't too satisfied with it either, the first time at least, the second time I watched it, the ending felt better. Overall an awesome accomplishment.

Introducing, Me

I've been on newgrounds for years now, and I've really been active on newgrounds as well as with my flash work lately so I thought I would formally introduce myself to the reg lounge. You can call me Porter, it's my last name and what I always go by. I've been in the forums a lot and some of you probably already know me. Anyway, Welcome to me.

Waterlollies

I personally think It's a big improvement from the others in the series. The environment and nature of the characters just felt a lot more lively. Also as a coder the scripted effects really stood out to me, loved the look of the preloader.

Welcome to newgrounds, please mind the gap. :D. Anyway, good to have you around.

Waterlollies

I liked this one, it felt much more in depth and it really drew me in with its story. The loader was nice, the story was great, the visuals were superb, it deserves the score it will get, and i can tell adam put a lot of effort into it.

RAB

Is it me, or do a new adam phillips flick and a new RAB always seem to be released simultaneously? Anyway, what do people think of the new one? I personally think it was better than the last few, but no where near as funny as the first lot of RAB.

Hi!

The animation and art was incredible as always, but I thought it was lacking a good storyline (unfortunately also, as always). It's really hard to write a compelling 8 minute story of course (and even more so with none-talking characters) so it's no real surprise, but still, there's room for improvement there.

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-11-05 17:35:52

Meh, it always annoys me when people complain about stuff like storyline. Plot is something which acts as a framework for awesome direction or animation - nothing more. If someone can make something great without a ridiculously detailed plot then so much the better, and the last thing they need is a bunch of idiots who can identify basic story structure complaining about the lack of something which isn't necessary.

I agree 100%. The storyline needs improvement. And I don't by the 8 minute excuse. I see plenty of short flashes with good stories.

You have it mixed up. A good story line should allow you to make good animation for it. I'm sorry, the story is boring. I know I took a look at it, saw the amazing animation, but felt compelled to x it out half way through because it didn't seem like it was going anywhere. There's absolutely no reason that Adam shouldn't be able to combine a great story with his amazing animation, but right now the story is far from great. Even a flash movie like dad's home, or dad's at work, tells a story that is interesting. It just seems the Brackenwood series has no start point, no middle, and no end. It's like "blah".

Meh... I'm still leaning on the side of "that's a horrendous waste of paid webspace for what livejournal or that art site you abandoned six months ago could do". But if it's your decision...

Its one thing about the flash scene i want to break its the me me me me attitude. its stupid, theres plenty of fame and fortune for everyone, people are so territorial as if someone is going to come and eat off of your plate. i could go on for ages.

I'm waiting for the corporate mentality to vanish too. I suspect once world peace and the subprime loan problems have sorrted themselves out, we'll have just enough time to have a Forum where everyone owns a legal copy of Flash and does this for fun, rather than banner ad / Mochi ads / sponsorship revenue.

I still believe there's a better way you can just make the page about YOU without it being a blog site. There are other sites flash sites out there that are just about the people who look after it, without a need to conform to a site template...

Inevitable Fires in Brackenwood have started...
Not seen Waterlollies yet. Not planning to either. Took me months to get around to seeing Tankmen 2 as well. So yeah, feel free to ignore me...

The last set of toons on the entire PORTAL to have a plot more in depth than that was Broken Saints. And even I haven't forced myself to sit down and wade through all that yet.

No one has the attention span for plot on the portal. It's all about the bling.
