Who else is sick of those games made from sites with base games and you just upload a picture?

Pumpkin Contest

Mine didn't win but it got an honorable mention, I'm still happy about it.

Raenaenae's definitely deserved the win.

The Epic Adventures of Captain Strauss: Pilot, Clockwork Engineer, Superhero, Knight
Strauss grabbed for the lever whilst struggling with the flight controls of The Avenger Magnificent IV, trying to pull the flying machine out of it's tailspin. Other than the scream of the propellers and the Alchemoengines of his own craft as they buckled from the stress, there were the sounds of Czar Nerv Boshnivka's dirigibles as they appeared from Weirdspace with, what the Mad Czar had once told him, a "ka-zaaa-pooop-zeech" sound. The searchlights pinned underneath their massive balloons illuminated the night sky as if it was midday, giving Strauss an idea how far away the ground was, and just how fast he was going to be reaching it. At his current velocity he felt the amount of time was 'quite improper'

The teleporting airships were up until five hours ago hidden away in Boshnivka's secret underground lair, miles beneath the ocean bed to the West. But thanks to his insane science and mastery of the in-between-real-spaces of Weirdspace, they were now above the Dual City Nullepart-in-Bestimmt. They were armed as heavily as the Czar could arrange, some carrying the dreaded Nitromexaline Compound Grey Goo Bombs, and were ready to rain destruction down upon the millions of citizens below, unless his insane demands were met. They included seven billion barrels of refined oil and the patents to his inventions that the Prestigious College/ University of Nullepart had stripped from him before they removed his tenure for endangering the fabric of reality with his bizarre experiments. And, of course, total sovereignty of the world.

Strauss really wasn't in the mood for Boshnivka's dangerous brand of pseudo-science today...

NaNoWriMo's going really well... Less than three hours work and I've already gone over my quota.
I'm 1800 words up, 2000 if you count a fairly long aside I went into regarding clockwork fox hunting. This'll be the only excerpt I post on the topic until the end of the month. If you see me on MSN, pester me about the novel, ask me about my word count. Keep me interested in this.

Referral links in sigs

I remember a while back ago when all referral sigs, no matter what they linked to, where forbidden in sigs. Now I see loads of people on the forums having them, are we allowed to again or what?

Could a mod, or someone else who knows for sure, please clear this up for me?

They still arent allowed.. some just slide under the radar because they are so petty or obscure and hard to spot.. kevan.org links stand out like a pimple on prom night.
Its just been a neglected as of late.. but i still wouldnt go about risking it. I still get occasional msgs from people moaning and wondering why they were 'unreasonably' banned.. and its usually because they had a link that was sitting there and a mod finally got around to it.

mod personalities

Double post.. while i was on the subject of modding i thought that it would be worthwhile to mention that different mods have different modding personalities and depending on where you wander on the forums and whom you wander around is likely to have a direct result as to wether you end up on a ban or not. While the rules are rules and all mods enforce em, some mods are more sensitive to some rules than others.
From what I noticed from Jmtb for example is that he rarely bans people, and is more welcoming around subjects that provide instructional support ..
i notice that bmk is more no-nonsense on the art forum than in here.. etc etc
i tend to be more of a locker than a banner.. i particularly get annoyed at pointless titles.. i think most of my flash mod counterparts arent quite as harsh as i am about em. but they really are annoying and feel like a waste of space and a read to someone wandering the forums TRYING to find a thread to help.

What's with the "animate something" topics all of a sudden? In one day, there's:

Animate Landing
Animate Kicks!
Animate Running!, and
Animate Explosions!

Hopefully, it's one of those small Flash forum phases...

Though, I must admit, the animations that start off the thread (usually the topic starter's) are quite good...

You didn't notice it's all the same topic starter? They're pretty cool anyway wouldn't mind a daily animation challenge along those lines if it were more specific or possibly weekly *nudge* *cough* luis *cough*

In all fairness there way more flash related then the lounge =P....

mod personalities

Lately my mod personality could be described as "neglectful". But when I'm around, I'd say I'm the type who bans heavily for mod goading and prefers to clean up a mess silently than to make an affair of it.

RE: Mod personalities

I rarely ban people for breaking the "lesser" rules, I delete more than I destroy. I only really ban for piracy/racism etc. Normally for 30 days.

We Dig TV

Has anyone else been to WeDigTv.com yet? You can like half a dozen game shows from the comfort of your own PC. I spent an hour playing Deal or No Deal this morning. It's a fucking clever site.

Anti-smoking stuff tends to annoy me. Don't get me wrong - I think it's great educating kids and that on how dangerous it is and all that, but the level scare-mongering and over the top legislation you get over here is just silly. I've a good mind to start smoking just to piss the government off.

No offense, but that was horribly laid out.

New Game

I was thinking about making a game that is fully rotoscoped (animation technique where you film stuff then draw over it - so theres a really realistic outline - eg play).

Basically it would be a platform shooter, but with a really cool rotoscoped design of characters, baddies and items. Heres a little demo I made (aim and shoot).

Wotcha think?

Tid how they made the first Prince of Persia game. Looks like an interesting game. Need to animate the shooting of the gun though.
