I'd say it's more of a Lounge for friendly people, but I might be saying that because I have a low post-count. What use is a post-count anyway? Not everyone has time to spend all day on NG writing dozens of (mostly useless) posts. A large amount of posts doesn't necessarily mean that that person is someone with a lot of experience in Flash and/or NG), although that is usually the case in the Lounge), he or she might as well be some stupid spammer.

As far as entry requirements go, it's mainly just the fact that you need a reasonable level of familiarity to fully appreciate this which should keep newer users out. That and a thinly masked layer of hostility.

Ya, I'm gonna have to go with me not really being considered a reg. Considering I was without a sig for a long time, and my low post counts, and constantly leaving for months at a time, I don't think my name is that familiar :P

Family Crap

My mom was an accountant, my dad was a programmer. One of my sisters was in banking... before she married a rich dude, now she just manages (spends) his money. My brother was going to go into finance. ...so, they're all good with math/numbers. I, on the other hand, am a total retard when it comes to that stuff! :P

My other sister did one of those 'draw skippy' things when she was in high school. She got to go to some free workshop thing and did some awesome paintings. She never pursued it tho, and now she just draws goofy stuff in the letters she sends... stuff an 8 year old would draw... but our mom still goes on and on about how wonderful it is. When she looks at the stuff I do... on the computer... she just says 'oh, that's nice.' So... I don't even bother showing her anymore. Maybe I'm adopted.

Too many contests (overrated?)

Am I the only one that thinks Newgrounds maybe has too many contests? Eh, it probably is just me. But I really think NG has a bit too many contests and cash prizes, yeah its cool, to get money for some things you make.. but sometimes it gets a bit overrated.

Pico Day, for example, I know a few people who just joined to have a chance at getting a few extra bucks, without even knowing the knowledge or background info, on the character or NG mascot to begin with. I honestly think you should join something just to participate in the NG community and feel involved, rather than having money always involved in everything you do.

It's cool to get money sometimes, but theres a point where you should just do something for just...the reason, rather than a money outcome. Animation is a hobby of mine, not something to role in a few bucks. I animate because I WANT too, not because I want to earn money from it. I just want to be noticed a bit, nothing more. And if I end up with rewards at the end, than so be it. I think a monthly contest is enough for now, not all these MADNESS and whatever holidays cashroles. Eh, I don't know.

I agree, I don't think I'm a reg in this lounge because the page # just goes up too fast and I can't keep up with it but I am more familiar with the noobs (not because I am a noob myself, but because I search for questions that need answering). This does seem more like a lounge for nice people that was placed in the flash section to keep out all immature people from the general section out.

i have a feeling there will be some joke\shit submissions by many people to be funny and then those submissions by other artists that are very talented. either way i assume most of it will be let into the portal due to the fact that most days just get massed voted anyways.
