Mouldy Bread

I did that once, man. Long time ago, but it scared the hell out of me. Nothing happened though...

I just wanna show you guys this little flash transition scene I did for the collab that me and dreamworx are workin on.
This is nothing special, like crazy-awesome-fuck-yeah or anything...but while making this I kept thinkin about how much I love Flash, seriously. Sad?...maybe, but I don't care.
Thats what I was trying to show with this, while trying to keep some humor in it.

Even though it's not really that funny....

[would you hug flash if it was a huge ball?]

I know I would...

There was a fake (sorry - poorly publicised) one a while ago, but the big, real deal is tommorow.

Damn, I didn't realise it was tomorrow. I really should have made something. Oh well. How many people have made something for it?

In other news, level 29 is bad ass.

The water in Majorca don't taste like what it oughta.

RE: Lusi Day

Yeah its really hectic, i dont know why people are doing something for tmrw if they already had a luis day last month.. its really confusing even for me... I'm gonna TRY and finish my movie but it may be impossible, i still have 500 frames. I hope it ISNT a big turnout, then if i dont finish it wont seem like i dropped the ball :p

Six degrees of separation

Was reading a girlie magazine while i was on my flight back from NY and there was this article that dove into wierd connections, and circumstances people have with celebrities or whatever.

Do you have any wierd six degrees of seperation with someone famous?

Heres an example: In 10th grade my english teacher was Dave Grohls mom. Dave Grohl of course was the drummer of Nirvana and eventually the lead singer of Foo Fighters. I never knew that at the time cause i wasnt much of a rocker.

another example would be: Dookiemoole, is the son of one of the band members of harry conick jr's band. well that one isnt as extreme but you get the idea.

It's alright, I suppose. =P I got a score of 640. Took me just of 10mins. I found level 24 really hard for some reason.

I'm off to Hawaii.

Have fun!

I really don't know what to say; you could have probably met one of the members of Nirvana and you blew it. How do you sleep at night? =P

As for me, my cousin's husband's friend played for Wasps, I think...

Luis Day
Whoa, the second Luis Day's coming up already? Fast...

I was going to submit something "Comic-Con themed" (*cough cough*) tomorrow anyway, so I guess I'll throw in a Luis Day-themed secret in there (Luis has a cameo in it already)....

RE: Luid Day

OK, there seems to be a lot of confusion here, so let me just clarify. This is what I think's been going on.

o I announced Luis Day like a month back when the man was on holiday for the following Wednesday. Luis came back, some other mod deleted the thread and for communications after that I had to rely on PMs and it wasn't too well organised.

o After getting PMs saying that a few people still had a bit of work to do, I moved it forward one day, and Luis Day occurred. There was a thread and anything.

o It sort of seemed from responses like a few people thought they had a month left to go. Now, leaving a month to make stuff kind of seemed to defeat the point of a spontaneous celebration to me, hence the initial short deadline. However, one way or another people still had work to do so it makes sense to have a backup Luis Day (apparently tomorrow) so people can submit the stuff they didn't have time to finish the first time round.

o There are already a tonne of awesome Luis Day submissions, so hopefuly tomorrow will bring an even higher standard for them since you've all already had long e-cocking-nough.

Also Luis, submit it whenever :) We don't care :P

What a lovely sunny day it is in ENgland today
I've tanned a lot from being out in the sun for just 5 hours, I actually look like I'm a black guy. Well, one of those black guys who looks kind of white, like one of his parents is white or somthing. Maybe its more of a latino colour. Oh who cares.

BLEH

Now here's another of my all time Flash hates - short animations with 'to be continued' at the end.

Don't get me wrong - I appreciate that animating is hard work. But why the hell break everything up unless you need to? It's hardly a size issue - I've not seen many of these approaching half of the NG file size limit, and all of them could easily have their sizes cut to a fraction with some reasonable levels of optimisation. Neither is it an effort issue, seeing as you're already making both halves one way or another. This leads me to the conclusion that it's pretty much the same mentality which causes game developers to get lots of small game sponsored rather than a couple of big ones - two or more small animations net you more rewards than one big one.

Now there are plenty of 'to be continued' animations where it's appropriate. There are cases where a) both halves are of enough length to qualify as full works in their own right, and/or b) the break happens at a natural or appropriate point like a cliffhanger or revelation to build suspense. These are examples where it works.

There's too many cases, though, where it seems like people have just though 'Gee, why not just slap a 'to be continued' label on this and submit it now? I can get two Daily Features!' Never mind that the halves are only a minute long each.

So yeah, learn some self control, animators!

You know those terrorists that tried to blow up London a while back, but failed: they went to the school my dad works at (before he started working there). Scary, huh?

RE: BLEH

Well my opinion is that, while it may be slightly more annoying to watch, it is nice to be able to complete/submit cartoons frequently. Someone like myself may take awhile to complete even a short cartoon, so short easy projects may be something that pleases them.

As long as it's not ridiculously short, I think it's a reasonably fine tactic.

Yeah, now I've got over the initial irritation that probably wasn't the best example. Even so, the words 'to be continued' weren't exactly appropriate for what's assumedly a completely new episode - you wouldn't expect to see that at the end of, say, a Simpsons episode.

I agree, if you are releasing a long (10 minutes least) movie all at once , you may want more awards for your flash. Although, i don't think a 1 minute short should be split into 4 just because your to lazy to finish animating and want more awards.

Reg Status

Who here is actually a reg? I'm probably not, but there are people with >50 posts here. I'm not saying that all >50 post users are bad, but it is a reg lounge, and half the people in this post are users i've never seen before :P.

Anyway, should this thread be 'All nice users welcome' or 'Regs welcome'?

I would say you're a reg because I recognize you as a user and recognized your posting personality (or atleast I think I did before I went away).
I believe I am a reg?
