The Redesign - Good or Bad?

The Redesign should be approaching us shortly, but what do we expect? We all had our dreams involving Newgrounds and the redesign, and we all had the annoying thoughts on what will come from the new look.. But the question here is, will the redesign be a good or bad path for Newgrounds. I'm really hoping the redesign will kick ass, and I'm sure all of you do too. I've been expecting this for quite some time, and I really can't wait to see it.

Something I wonder is what if Newgrounds turns into something like YouTube? I sure as hell hope not. I like Newgrounds for what it is, and how it's pretty original. I just hope it doesn't turn it's Author Profiles into something like this.

I really wish Newgrounds is going to be unique in their own way though, when the Profiles change -- I really hope it adds more opportunity to our work, and help us expand our creativity with our pages in our own little way. I just hope Newgrounds has something in store for us. Another thing, I'm wondering if the BBS will be changed and updated as well with the redesign? As well with the portal submissions... Will all the Portal Submissions be changed automatically? Will more features for the submissions be added? How about the voting system, batting average, and whistle points be scored out? Is this all going to change? I'm going crazy thinking about what's going to happen -- I guess we just have to wait for redesign to just come, and our questions will be answered.

Hopefully, this redesign will turn more than a few heads.

The Redesign

Hmm I really hope it does do something a bit different/special with the site.

After spending THIS much time on it, I really hope it isnt just some you tube knock off. I dont really know what to expect tbh apart from revamped graphics, but tbh I dont really see anything wrong with the site, apart from the nav bar being slightly awkward at times.

Dunno, I guess we'll wait and see :P

I hope it doesnt become to mechanical Rudy. I also dont want it to become to big, I like how few people know about it at the moment, I hope we dont get flooded. Remember when all the idiots joined the forums, when the forum button was made bigger in the header? I can see it being like that, playing up to those idiots.

I dont think we have to worry about it becoming simillar to youtube. Youtube is different regardless, its more of a accesory/tool that has taken off. We shouldnt get that commercial or popular, some of the genuinely fucked up stuff on this site will scare off casual viewers - i hope.

I dont know what I want and I dont care to think about it. Toms the legend who came up with this site and I reckon he'll do something decent.

Redesign

Having played with the redesigned site, without giving any vital info on it up. I think that its a comfortable progression up. Its not a night to day type of redesign so for anyone expecting that is going to be sorely disappointed. I saw it as a smarter way of approaching different features of the site, you'll have to play with it to know what i mean, its just a smarter way of doing most everything you once had to do here. I think the spirit of NG is alive and cool and to my relief userpages arent going to be this freeforall that myspace is where you can put butt-ugly wallpapers and annoying emo songs blaring, while people plug advertisements on the friends panel.

I think its a comfortable upgrade and it still leaves you hungry for whats up ahead beyond that.

I think that the redesign will be kind of like what Luis said, except for it will give many noobs, easier ways to bug us. I hope it looks good though.

I'm not going to say that you're right or wrong. But I wouldn't trust anyone who claims to know anything about the update regardless of status.

Well, i think i once read that now instead of profiles the links would go to our user pages, i dont know if i got it wrong, but i dont like the idea, right now i dont mind cliking a user name's and having a small window popping out with all his info sumarized, i like its simplicity, but having a whole new page loaded when clicking on the user will make me think twice when clicking it....

What i am curious baout are the new levels, anything else, i dont mind much

Hopefully the new design will be more efficient, as long as the content is good the site design doesn't matter too much ; )

Well, I think I have a very reliable source, someone that is in the Newgrounds Staff kind of. Maybe, one of us amongst eachother. I don't think it's necessary to say anything though. Even though, they may not know everything -- they do know alot. ;)

Despite my Video Blogs, Friday the 13th seems the most interesting. Even though it's rather lengthy, I'm kinda proud on the ending product of it. I really like sharing my videos with you guys, to see what you guys think -- and what not. So please tell me your opinion on the videos.

Also to whom that may be wondering why I've been making Video Blogs:
"For some reason, I've been inspired to make a few actual SERIOUS videos involving serious questions, and stories to share with the YouTube Community and Everyone else -- You Regs. It's easier to host your work onto YouTube in the end anyways to share it with everyone. Another thing is I like discussing some topics and seeing everyone's reaction, it makes me feel rather important."

I am sad to say, I'm soon been drawn into the hole YouTube Community Era. I didn't quite want too, but I think it's easy publicity and maybe someone will notice me. Soon, I'll be hosting my animations for previews on my YouTube page, as another publicity. I like to animate and create short films, so Newgrounds is my Animation Site, as YouTube is my film site --- I guess.
