Wow. Coincidence: I was 18 a month ago and all my exams will be over in 18 days!

I have my German reading and writing next thursday; then I have both history papers on the monday after; next is a double politics exam on the friday. My last exam is the final unit of politics and on the 26th.

I never got people who do languages >.< My mate last year took French and German for GCSE, and said the work was completely insane. Another taking History now says that's pretty bad. Don't know anyone doing politics, though - how's that?

A levels are fun!

Definately XD

Flash form V General
General is ok, i always thought it was really fast moving but its not its actually pretty slow which sort of took away from the fun of it since most topics are painfully dull.
The flash forum is nice, its a cool place to hang out learn and help people. Im starting to like the art forum more though since you can improve more there because you can get comments directly on your work by making a new thread..

OMG me too :) That's happened twice already. And mods can appear offline. It's a proper Big Brother type affair over there (OK, and exceedingly liberal, bisexual Big Brother, but Big Brother nonetheless).

The spam threads are the real bitches. Back, like well ages ago, I could post in random thread thinking 'well, this seems like a fun thread', only to get SLAP - 2 day ban "Posting in a spam thread, this only fuels the flames" blah.

The 'fuels the flames' bit really got me, because it seemed like the only 'spam threads' I ever posted in were just random, fun ones with no flaming whatsoever.

Realism Vs Abstraction

In graphics that is. Do you prefer nice clean lines nigh on perfect body formations. Or do you prefer ultra stylized animations that are extreamly abstract and crazy. There are little sections between these two polar opposites but which do you lean more towards.

Personally i love a nice styalised piece that is just out there. Sure realism and good composition is nice in still images and pictures, but it doesn't really lend it's self to a fun viewing experiance in motion.

Views anyone?

GeneralVSFlash
General is crazee, its madness, it is not sparta tho.. but yep, general its just a big chaos of stupid threads and idiotic posts, i go there when i am bored and wanna have fun, tho sometime i end up running away from there, like leaving safe little flash forum and risking on the outsides of general.. there are some rare and cool threads inside all the spam... sometimes...

RealityVSabstracts

I prefer realistic drawings, i really dislike abstracts, tho i dont like much those that try to be as real as possible, like those old cartoons.. what are like are clean drawn characters with a cartoonish style..

I would say it is art. It's a way of expressing your self and is a "artistic" medium. It also happens to be the breeding ground of such people as the KK and othero rganisations which destroy flashes image to an extent where people simly think of it as a toy.

Flash as art

Some people cna use flash for art, but only a few.. out of the torrent of sticks,sprites and cliche rippoffs... every so often a flash willc ome along that is acutlly beautiful in it's style, artwork and story.... sometimes there is no story, only beauty.

<Nerdy example> Like in metroid Prime , u get tons of shooting puzzleing and good graphics and suddenly you get to the bgiingin of the phendra drifts and your like, wow..</nerdy example>

..::General Forum::..

I go there all the time, but I very rarely post unless I have something meaningful or interesting to add to the topic. My two bans were for posting in spam threads. One was obviously spam, the other one started out spammy but then turned into an interesting discussion and I thought I would contribute. Oh well.

..::Abstraction/realism::..

Obviously (if you're familiar with anything I've done) ; I like abstraction, I rarely go for realism and even then I throw some abstract elements into it. I like the free flowing creativity that abstraction offers, art should never be confined to what we percieve as reality, it's all about expression, in my opinion.

..::Flash as art?::..

I believe art exists in everything as long as you're looking at it with the right mindset, and Flash is a great medium for personal expression.

Well either is good, I mean a well done abstraction is Brilliant and so is Realism.... I'd say I would prefer abstraction if I was forced to choose.

Color issues

some colors in the flash pallete, in my computer look almost like black, but really slightly bluer/purpler/browner/greener, i sometimes use this color when i need to make some blacks slightly different.. like in hair that has a black outline and is black... the problem is i just discovered that in other computers this colors look instead of blacky fully blue/purple/brown/green.. which makes the coloring different... this isn't much of a problem but it just makes people percieve my flash differently (uuuh..lesson in life).. just felt like talking about it...

modding biz

i actually am a pretty weak mod. i cant review mod, and actually no mods can edit someone elses ban so fuzz you are wrong. Anyway i think general forum does require all the mods it has over there, because of the speed of threads and the overlapping of different time zones and shit, i think its natural that youll run into mods who rule with a heavier hand... me for instance, i rarely ban people .. UNLESS its a piracy discussion which pisses me off immensely and i have zero remorse in the maximum ban humanely possible.

I think i've banned a few for being annoyances but those are roughly a day or somethin...

I think i enjoy locking more anyway.. theres nothing more frusterating to someone for you to get the last word.. i can just imagine people pulling their hair out at not being able to get the upper hand.. theres something disgustingly empowering about e-power..

Flash as art?
People consider videogame animation art? Then why not flash?

Flash is just a tool anyway, not an 'area', like the other two things you mention. Whether it's art or not depends upon what you create with your tools.

Abstraction vs reality

Recreating reality is, for the most part, a bit pointless in my opinion when it already exists.

If you're drawing someone's attention to something or need realism for some reason, then fair enough...

I think having interesting creatures, funny shaped bodies and odd goings on is more interesting than a 'realistic' style and story. By choosing animation over video you're forgoing a certain realism anyway.

And this is why I love you...
General V Flash
When I go to the general forum I usually just play a game with myself to see if I can say which threads are gonna get locked, It's fairly easy but entertaining. People there always seem a little off to me, I don't know why but like general regs... ugh, who becomes a reg in a forum designed at nothing?

Realism V Abstract
The old disney realism like in snow white and cinderalla(sp?) is boss but generally, well not abstract, but more cartoony things catch my eye. Photorealism just wouldn't be all that interesting to watch.

On the note of exams I've been out for a week.... just thought I'd rub that in your face

I'm cool now... Right guys?... Guys?

HINT!!! HINT!!! HINT!!! HINT!!!

I think we need to have some system like in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe for deciding mods XD (maybe not that one, but it was definitely one of the sequels). Find a guy who geneuinely doesn't want to be a mod, and lives in a hut somewhere, to make all the decisions. That'd prevent the emergence of power hungry Luises :P

Realism V Abstraction

Since we're talking about animation, realism is basically just another form of abstraction anyway. Realistically, people aren't made of outlines and colours expressed as hexadecimal numbers at all, so ;'realism' could just be seen as abstract abstraction as far as animation is concerned.

As far as which is best, the obvious answer still stands - which ever works better in the context in which it is being used.

slightly off topic, but hey

Typing

When you code, do you look at the keyboard or do you look at the screen? I look at the keyboard, but it's annoying becasue I have to rummage through the lines of code to see if I've made and mistakes. I wish I could type without looking :(
