Time control in a flash game
Would make a cool game but it is the exact same idea as all three prince of persia console games. I love all three so I think it would be a great idea though it sounds like it would be hella tricky. You'd have to make sure it was integral to the gameplay and not just a gimmick.
To speed up time you could simply make all the enemies slow down.

If you were to make it you might be better off actually calling it a flash version of a PoP game.

Time Control

I can think of a way of doing it, although i don't think i would try it personally (To time consuming :P). Anywhoo, you could simply record the players _x, _y, _currentframe and _rotation values with a function which puts them into a very large array.

Then, when the player presses, say the left arrow, another function is called which puts the player back a few places in the array.

Anyway, i'm not sure how it would be programmed, but its still a nice idea :).

Hah, I knew it had to use four BIG lines, not just small ones.

Keeping up a quarter megabyte array (that is if you only record it for every second) would still be too much for a shit like AVM1.

Note that time and duration are diffirent things, time can't be measured as dimension.

you could probably do a 5 second at a time array in Flash CS3 without any noteable change in performance... but I don't know the statistics of AS3, I only know how to code it :P

Yeah, thats what i was thinking. If nothing else, you could just collect one _X, _y position etc for 10 seconds ago, then let the player revert back to 10 seconds before they made a mistake, without a transition.

Try and spot the improvements, I made a timer bar for luis, chnaged the buttons and menu for the other guy and there are quality and sound toggles. No pause yet. Theres some other stuff too that I cant remember...

I think you should make them faster but easier to kill and also make it so if you hit one your bullet stops instead of going on through. Also the buildings or whatever those things that pop up at the bottom are, because they are being attached they are going to the highest depth and they go over the other things on the stage like the ammo and the reload thing, still looking pretty nice.

And where will you get what was ten seconds ago without knowing what was nine seconds ago last second? :P

I'd loop and wrap the time array index.

Yes, another alcohol topic. Mikes Hard Lemonade is pretty good, I had it a few times yet I'm a young lad. :/ I swear the whole time I was watching TV yesterday all they were showing was "Mikes Hard Lemonade" commercials. Continuesly. It was like some subliminal messages.

Anyone really watch it?

I think yesterday was the really only day this week I've sat down and watched the TV. I hardly even watch the TV because I find it...somewhat boring. :( It's weird -- I used to love TV as a kid than when I got older I got more interested into the internet, video games, and hanging out with my friends. Maybe, because I was a useless annoying twit as a kid maybe?

Eh that could be it. So does anyone really watch TV? I kinda don't. I only watch it occasionally. I spend my time making various flash animations and/or talking to friends -- hanging out.

every few months cartoon network will have a scooby doo marathon (not speeling that right.... meh)..

I never really loved it, but nowadays it just gets left behind on my schedule. All the good shows, as more accessible now, then ever before on the internet. Somehow I feel as though the computer just takes more time, and gives me more space to choose what to watch and when to watch it. TV constricts itself over your schedule and if you want to watch something you have to make time for it at a specific time in your day. Maybe if it were more flexible, I guess that's why they made T-vo or whatever. The internet is still better.
