Nice. Well I have the next 10 years of my life to fuck up for the sake of comedy.

Maybe you're not watching the right ones.

Probebly true, actually I havn't seen many... I just usualy lump them all together as childish filth.

What can I say, i love animation.

Me to, I mean I have over 450gb of Anime on my HDD's.

ok...

basicly ive bein learining and creating flash for bout two years now. but all my animation are well.........crap but thats mainly due to a lack of effort.

coulnd it be due to lack of practice too?

BUT there is one thing, whenever i get half way through a flash i'm makin somthing ALWAYS GOES WRONG (maybe im cursed................) so there are a couple of things that i need help with:

ctrl+z

ive started usin layers but i now have bout 20 layers and its gettin reli hard to keep track of them any way of sorin that out.

name them?

when u clik on properties (at the bottom) and select a background i can't change it, and if i do it changes through out the whole animation! so if its green at the start then i change it to blue its like that at the beggining rite 2 the end!!!!!

draw the background on a layer and just put a keyframe when you want it to change and change it.....

lastley i tried putting my own back ground (a rectangle of grey) in its own layer BUT all other objects disapear behind it even if there symbols etc.

is it in the bottom layer?

pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee help thanks a lot cheers

2 years and only just started using layers?!

Yep, flash has 1 canvas when you change the color of that canvas it changes through the whole document.

lastley i tried putting my own back ground (a rectangle of grey) in its own layer BUT all other objects disapear behind it even if there symbols etc.

Drag the layer to the bottum, you must understand hierarchey(sp) a layer ontop of another layer will put what ever is on the top layer above the bottom layer, correct?

Lost
I've not read this thread in a few days because I saw people talking about lost and I hadn't seen it yet.
I thought it was awesome. Best bit- Sayid's leg neck-snap technique.

I realise I'm totally behind the times and you're all over it

I'm never over with LOST, I loved the episode but was greatly dissapointed when Charlie died. I was ok with Lock dying (but then he came back...) but not with Charlie dying, he had a cool background and was a nice character. I don't like Lock anymore though, hes an ass. Can't wait till next season!

Whoa its me!

diskneeeeee

Toy story 3 comes out 2009 btw.. TS 1 and 2 were really good, lets heop the third can be equely as good.. though the fact it'll be all spruced up with super realisitcness will take away alot of the charm.

i miss hand animated sutff, it was always so beautiful, now we get crappy cgi generated nonsence that copys real life and makes all.. icky...

who framed roger rabbit was brilliant but later attempted of recreating the same thing, like spacejam, looksed awfull.. making the classic 2d character look 3d by adding shading looked awfull, aswell as the voices... ergh the voices.....

sometimes in those cgi mvoies your like.. omg that looks amazing, then you relaise that it's just some paritcle effect or shaddowing or some other filter. CGI movies are just, less human :(

A ToyStory3!!! I tought they had given it up when they made that crap buzzlightyear movie..

I hate when they try to mkae everything look the more realistically posible, it just isnt fun..

Yeah.. hand animated stuff looks more alive, look at Sword in the Stone for example, look at the animation in the owl.. it looks really alive...

Hey SpaceJam was awesome!!

making the classic 2d character look 3d by adding shading looked awfull, aswell as the voices... ergh the voices.....

Adding shading makes it look more detailed, not 3D, i like it.

Disney

Robin Hood was rather cheaply done, to be hoenst i liked this.. it made it feel more huan.. with cgi movies you dont have thigns like this.. you can't reuse animatins and such...

also add's to the human thing... removed scenes in drawn cartoons looks awesome becuase u could still make out everythign and it didn't look crap.. unlike removed thigns in cgi movies that are usually untextured tweenlike crap that looks cheap, awfull and makes you realise how utterly robotic cgi movies are :(

also, pinkskull i love you ;)

Heh I remember this movie, I used to love it as a kid. When I was real young. like 3, 4 or mabey 6.

Disney+CGI

the lion king used computers to clone characters, which looked great and probs should be the only time they should of used computers!

Disney

The ballroom scene from Beauty and the Beast made use of computers as well and it was okay, but there was something definately not right about the way it looked.

Space Jam was horrendous. Ugh.

Yay for Toy Story 3! That should be a good one, Pixar usually delivers the goods each time. I have a lot of respect for Pixar. Dreamworks on the other hand... bleh...

Dreamworks

Ehh, I don't find Shreck amusing. And Over the Hedge and Madagascar were just kind of blah...

I will say that Aardman is a great company and I guess it falls under the Dreamorks umbrella. So thats a reason not to hate Dreamworks...

RE: Cute CGI animal Movies
There are so many of these for one simple reason: every cute fluffy CGI animal can have a cute fluffy toy made from it, which means extra money for the creators.

Toy story 3
I predict fail.

Have you ever had an off day? Where you open flash and you try to draw something yet you are like stumped on what to draw -- and if you do draw something it totally sucks? For some reason, this whole weekend I've been Flash stumped :[

I'm having an off year. Since my first portal award back in january I've completely lost any kind of motivation. All I ever really aimed for was an award of any kind, and 100,000+ views. I got both of those, so now I'm not aiming for anything and I can't trick myself into thinking I can do better...
I think I'll just quit the Flash scene. Byebye.

I'll probably be back in a few days though. I lack the motivation to stay quitted.

Fortune Cookie

Fortune cookies are finally falling apart where I am. I got 2 of the same: There's a good chance of a romantic encouter soon. The other time, I got The fortune you seek is in another cookie.

For the romantic encounter, lucky numbers 3, 34, 22, 14, 8, and 30.
For the the fortune u seek is, lucky numbers 30, 3, 44, 27, 8, and 24.

Unlike its disney copy, the wild, which meant to look teh most realistic possible and falied.

SpaceJam sucked--

its been a long time since i last saw it, but i remember good times, GOOD TIMES!.. unless you mean that the animation sucked, because i didnt use to look at the animation much...

Don Bluth

Anastasia, All dogs goe to heaven, rock-a-doodle, titan a.e., an american tale... all made by him!! he has just become my new idol, those movies were great, shame he is getting old now, well, age shouldnt matter...

Shrek

Shrek 1 dissapointed me, Shrek 2 was one of the most hilarious movies i have ever seen.. but i dont think making a third was a good idea, well...
Have you noticed most of the movies this summer are third parts?

Response to The Flash 'Reg' Lounge 2007-05-26 21:17:47

I hate to be off topic to what you guys are talking about, but i've go nothing to animate and all I could come up with is this little guy. So if anyone has any ideas, nothing too intricate, I just wanna scrape the dust off. I haven't animated anything in ages and I wanna start a movie soon.

I disagree. As seen with movies such as Pirates 3, box office smash hit doesn't match with quality of film.

Which seems to go for a lot of movies these days.

This Little Guy

My opinion:
For a 10(?) frame loop it's pretty good.
The movement seems to be a little too much, there isn't really a point of focus because everything is moving a lot all the time. I don't think he should collapse as much as he does, and the hat shouldn't collapse much at all. The leg movement is great however.

I hope you do get back into the habit of animating stuff. =]

Scripting Rotation
Well, here's what I would do.
I would get the ball to move first. Then I would add the rotation. Then the physics stuff (acceleration/deceleration), which should be basically the same as gravity, but sideways, and be able to run in reverse for deceleration. (Or at least that's how I would do it.) I would have code, but I lost most of my FLAs when my old computer a'sploded (I might be able to recover them someday...), and I'm too tired to write any half-decent code now.

They better remain nameless because if they consider themselves hardcore lost fans and haven't yet seen the finale then they are like 1/2hardcore lost fans or maybe even 1/4hardcore lost fans. Hardcore Lost fans don't miss an episode :)
