Since Adobe bought Macromedia, Flash has become part of the CS series. CS stands for Creative Suite. It technically is Flash 9...just with another name. It's 3 because it's the third installment in the CS series, and the whole suite can be bought in a big expensive bundle for all to enjoy. Hooray!

New Things Learned in Flash

One of my favorite things about programs as massive as Photoshop and Flash is that I am constantly learning new things. Even when I think I could know EVERYTHING there is to know about animation and have been using the program for a number of years I find little hints and tips to help me along the way in the future. Today, I stumbled upon two. D:

One being that the "," and "." keys make the frame selected step forward or backward. I have been looking for a shortcut like this for a long time and I finally found it...I'm sure it is pretty common knowledge, but it was news for me, and news I am quite grateful for.

Secondly, is that when fading a song or audio clip in, if you start from zero and go ALL the way to the top, when it hits the top it pops. At least, with the song I am using it did...all I had to do to fix this atrocity was pull the sound down a fraction of an inch and the pop went away. Perfect. I am a sucker for high quality audio tracks with flawless editing and composition. I am super into Audio Engineering and everything so I suppose that is one of my pet peeves...\

Haha, sure! It is helpful as hell when measuring movements in FBF...I knew Flash had to have a feature like that somewhere...clicking between frames just isn't practical at all.

well yeah, especially when lip-synching, it is really annoying to press a button, then go all the way upward to move onto another frame, then press button again, go all the way up-ward..

Internet abbreviations

I actually dont really mind most abreviations, i think the internet is about getting information fast and moving around endlessly, the web is this blinding mass of activity and to me i think that abreviations live happily in the medium. I do admit that it does cause a downspiral of english grammar and actually the other day i had to correct myself from writing thnx at the end of a professional cover letter.

I think the thing that really annoys me is the internet fad talk.. like talkin elite or with those stupid character substitutions.. it feels like nerds trying so hard to carve out their little cool group when they never were cool to begin with and never will be.

I have alot of women with chips on their shoulders the size of boulders for the stunts i pull.. must say that i really hate that about myself. I think though that the internet has helped me with that, and im finding it easier to find my voice in recent years than in previous ones..

Been Gone, but am back

how many of you have changed the keyboard shortcuts in flash?

i have, mainly - is now flip horizontally and removed a few of the more annying and usless shortcuts (letters for the toolbar options, pointless..)

makes flash rather easier to deal with and if you accidentl press a key it wont change what your drawing or mess things up :D!

Nah I don't. I used to on my old comp probably because it was an easier setup too - right hand on the mouse left hand on the keyboard. But with me tablet I may aswell just quickly do whatever with the cursor.

I thought itd be cool to hear of events or other interesting things people are gonna be part of in the near future or things that they have done and have thouroughly enjoyed that they wanted to share with everyon. You attending any conventions, concerts, or other events this year?

Doesnt really have to be flash related or whatever, i was talking to psychogoldfish and he was telling me about a beer festival going on in Colorado in Oct. I thought that would be something interesting to attend if i get around to it.

This weekend im gonna go see Dimmu Borgir in Baltimore... black metal is totally not my scene but someone invited me and I cant turn down a free offer... who knows it might be pretty cool. I went to a Sepultura concert a few months ago and I actually enjoyed it more than i thought, its sort of interesting to observe people with musical tastes different than yours, i found it intruiging how theres like a whole new universe of subcultures that you sometimes dont even realize exists. Its almost like being in a different country, where you are hearing sounds you arent accustomed to hearing and amongst people you are not accustomed to being around.

I heard deftones are back in town in June, ill have to goto that tourstop. Although I'm kind of annoyed at Wash DC and how this year theres a no smoking rule at venues, theres something authentic about being jammed in this tiny venue that wreaks of sweat cheap booze and tabacco... i remember when i went to a george clinton concert (at this same venue concidentally) and backstage they were all getting blazed. I dont smoke weed but damn i love the smell of that smoke.... its so distinctive.

If you catch malicious ads like that.. make a note of it and PM tom, he is always looking to keep those sort of advertisers out, but with all the shit he does he doesnt really have the time to constantly be babysitting what assets advertisers are uploading into queue so he really appreciates it when people let him know.

Cool Places

I went to a Nine Inch Nails concert a little while back. I'm a pretty big fan, though not really into that whole scene. I just like Industrial style music, but I don't like dealing with the fans at the more hardcore concerts. Anyway, I loved it. In Europe, you still smoke at the venues and stuff so it still feels really authentic.

And I think everyone should go to Prague, in the Czech Republic at least once. One of the most inspirational places in the world, to me.
