Being emotional doesn't make you emo. Emo isn't even a shortened term for Emotional anymore so it's not eligible. I cry sometimes when I can't take the pain and I admit that.

And to the guy saying I'm emo.
Heh, you're just like the kids in the crowd. "being bothered by being called emo" means you're emo.

Well not exactly buddy.
I'm bothered by the word because I can't stand being called something I'm not. Like being called Gay for example, I'm not gay but it still bothers me. I'm nothing close to any of those. I don't like being labeled into a group where I know I don't belong.

Don't judge me, if you obviously don't know me. I just wanted to know what people's opinions where on the subject. Maybe, I shouldn't of even brought up the topic knowing that someone would respond like you did.

I don't need to be convinced something that's no wheres true. I wear nice shades of blue, green, and other colors. I don't wear black clothing nor listen to an extreme amount of hard metal rock bands in which you can't understand. Yeah, I'm getting stereotypical on the label "emo" rather than it's real meaning.

I don't wear black jeans nor tight ones. Mine are baggy and not balls-squishing where if you try to kick someone they won't rip, unlike tight ones. My hair is no where's near black, my hair is dirty-blonde and since it's wavy it curls a bit.

Congrats on your first post with no spelling mistakes.

You bring up a valid point, it is really unfair how a flash that shite can get front page when some people spend several months on their movies/games only to have them ignored.

300 skidoo

i dont know how it got on there but i would really like to see something thats on the front page be blammed

3D animations

something occured to me the other day, i call movies like shrek, finding nemo and toy story cartoons cause thats what they are really... but then i got in trouble for calling them that cause some people say they must be called 3d animations but i mean cartoons are called 2d animations sometimes but they still got the cartoon title.. i dunno what do you call them?

Emos

Emos, Goths whatever anyone depressed is an idiot in my opinion (btw i know that not all are depressed this is a rant about the ones who are) fucking cheer up or stay in your house, the ones that dress over the top because they want the attention... you know i was on the bus the other day and there were these oddly clad teens sitting behind me having a loud discussion about one of their friends who isn't such an oddly clad teen and how she only hangs around the popular kids cause shes an attention seeker... but isnt that why they dress weird shit in the first place so they get attention so someone might ask them why so they can explain it and feel better about themselves? Either way i dislike posers

Yeah, but don't forget depression is often clynical among teens... I once suffered it, luckily though I didn't turn emo, I just gave up on school :)

(if you get depressed, just give up school! made me feel so much better not giving a fuck about it...)

Alright, I think it's enough on the topic of expressing feelings because it was stretched into a debate about the word "emo."

Sorry.

RE: Flash Level Really Low

Ehh. This happens sometimes to some flashes. I don't understand really how they get front page but usually someone puts it up there...right? I think it may be due to the massive amount of views after the one day submit. -_- I really don't know, but honestly that doesn't deserve front page -- other good work deserves that spot.

Definitely.

To me emo is just a way of describing whiny assed angsty teenagers. People who think that noone understands them and they are a special and unique person. Someone who is just old enough to realise the world is a big scary place but not old enough to realise they should get the fuck over it.
I think it's pretty much a phase that everyone goes through but some people enter into more than others.
I think as far as music goes something like simple plan epitomizes it. Dont take that to mean I'm calling you emo if you listen to simple plan but if you listen to the lyrics, they are fucking whiny. I used to like them actually before I actually listened to what they were saying, then I realised they're totally emo.
The biggest issue I have with the word emo is the massively negative connotations with wrist slitting.
Oh and people who go out of their way to be anti emo are often emo. People that claim they arent in a group, they are just themself are often emo.

These are my thoughts on emonessdom.

Rudy is Emo

See what you're doing there is stereotyping. Its like if you were black and said to yourself, I can't be black I don't like fried chicken. I mean basically what you are doing is endorsing social stigmatas. Like saying if you're a jock you can't hang out with a stoner, dork, or an emo. You need to watch breakfast club pronto.

And stop debating over the meaning of emo, it always was and always will stand for emotional, which you are. I've been called emo, I didn't care, same with being called gay(that only gets annoying when someone ACTUALLY thinks you're gay and they're an attractive female). You've obviously way to self conscious(another trait of emos) which is your problem. Who cares what other people think?

One more thing. I prefer not to be referred to as "someone like you". Who am I like? Not only am I not like who ever is making fun of you I'm not like anyone because I have the ability to think and act on my own(for the most part) not being afraid of express myself because I might be called emo.

Emos

At 3/21/07 06:05 PM, Peturo wrote: the ones that dress over the top because they want the attention...

Perhaps they just like the style? Or maybe they just want to be different? That doesn't make them attention whores. You see, the problem with emos is that they're not a legitimate counter culture because they were pretty much fabricated by the Gap. The Gap owns Hot Topic, meaning emos are just anti-pop pop supporters. At least the ones who shop at Hot Topic and listen to all the emos on MTV and shit like that.

Either way, you're basing your argument on a lot of assumptions and you're also being ridiculously judgmental.

Stoners?

At 3/21/07 05:07 PM, mynamewontfitin wrote: I'd probably fall under the "stoner" group even though I'm not a burnout like a lot of my close friends are. My "group" is really just my band and our friends.

Yea, I'd probably fall under that and have since before I ever smoked. Just my long hair and love for good music sticks me in that group. This neo-hippy once referred to the two of us as hippies and then said "if you consider yourself a hippy"...you basic assumption was my long hair somehow made me something of a hippy. He had much shorter hair but he actually believed in various hippy activities.

I guess whats important is that you can be consider one thing but that doesn't mean you're only thing you could be. Just so long as you don't try and be something else. As Tyler Durden once said, "sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken".

Emo? Those Chocobo like things in Australia, right?
My wardrobe is neutral and earth toned, predominantly grey, with a fair helping of black (but nothing that stands out... bar the Magical Trevor t-shirt and the "In Case of Zombies, Break Glass" one...).

My bathroom has no makeup. Just a can of deoderant and some aftershave.

I have not had my psyche analysed. However, I'm pretty sure it'd come out as something that could be treated with a tiny bit of medication or a few weeks of councelling. And I'm too old to stnad around moping - that doesn't pay the rent.

In short, I'm a fairly balanced ex-teenager, and I think anyone claiming to be "emo" is simply in it for the cliqueiness. However, I don't think I'll ever be able to shake off the fact that I have three My Chemical Romance albums...

Yay... my net credibility now drops to BELOW rock bottom...

I already said end the topic but this is my last response to it. Alright, well anyways. If you read my post clearly I said right above the text you selected..:

"I don't wear black clothing nor listen to an extreme amount of hard metal rock bands in which you can't understand. Yeah, I'm getting stereotypical on the label "emo" rather than it's real meaning."

See. I already said I was being stereotypical since everyone else were relating the word as the stereotype meaning of it, rather than the emotional stirring type.

I mean basically what you are doing is endorsing social stigmatas. Like saying if you're a jock you can't hang out with a stoner, dork, or an emo. You need to watch breakfast club pronto.

I never once referred to social stigmatas. I hang out with anyone thats my friend. I don't pick and choose who to hang with. I like everyone. I don't see a kid in black and go "Ew I don't want to be his friend." I'm just not like that. And I've watched the Breakfast Club, many of times. It's a very good movie -- I'm actually doing a movie-review in English on it this Friday.

I've been called emo, I didn't care, same with being called gay(that only gets annoying when someone ACTUALLY thinks you're gay and they're an attractive female). You've obviously way to self conscious(another trait of emos) which is your problem. Who cares what other people think?

I'm not that self-conscious I just have a very low self-esteem. I look down on myself alot. I don't like when people judge me because most of them don't even know me. If you don't know me, don't judge me by my appearance or what I do.

Reality Check

People will judge you without knowing you forever... its a fact of life.. you may as well get used to it. You're only fooling yourself trying to change peoples ways .. for every one person you 'change' theres another 2000 born.. you need to just get over it and accept the world is full of assholes and just live your life. People will judge with or without your permission.. thats what people do.. its human nature to come to conclusions based on first impressions/vibes/whatever. If strangers trashing your world completely rips you apart inside... then this is gonna be a long uphill battle for you.

Don't feel bad, I DLed "The Black Parade", and it's not THAT emo. In fact, it's quite punk. And they have some awesome guitar work (see Dead! being in GH2 for X-box 360).

At 3/21/07 07:06 PM, MethodMinus wrote: I'm probably in the stoner group.

As would I. I would say I am the bastard child of the metal kid (not to be confused with the goth kid, because Children of Bodom is not fucking hardcore) or the very obscure emo kid (for the last time, no, I don't care about your fucking whiney emo metal).

I have the long ass hair, and I want dreads (yep, whitey wants dreads.

I like hiking, I wear flip-flops, and I have friends who smoke pot (with me joing on rare occasions.)

DRUGS

Drugs just don't really appeal to me.

For example, I like the European idea of drinking. It's more of a "Let's have a glass of wine with this meal," or a "Hey, how about a quick drink after work (which would be quite late for most people)," instead of the American "HEY, LETS GO GET SHITFACED, WOOOOOO!"

Granted, I make my exceptions for big holidays (St. Patty's, New Years, My Birthday, 4th of July, etc.), but I don't make it a weekly habit or anything like some people do.

Also, I don't understand why the fuck crystal meth is so cool. It fucks you up. Not only that, you are making fucking toxic chemicals and your fucking HOVERING OVER THE GOD DAMN CONTAINER! On top of that, half the shit you end up with is highly explosive.

Heroin - blah. I got allergy shots as a kid. I really am tired of fucking needles, let alone that some dick next to me might give me AIDS or Hep C. Just what I need, a disease on top of a drug addiction.

Crack and cocaine seem pointless to me. Sure, it might get you high, but it's too much fucking work. Whether you snort the coke or smoke the crack, it's more work than anything else.

Psylocibin a.k.a Shrooms are one of the only 2-3 drugs I have interest in and want to try. They give you a short trip, and that's it. No cancer. No brain damage. Nothing. Besides, slap a few shrooms on yo' pizza and you and your homees are ready to trip.

Acid a.k.a. LSD a.k.a. Lysergic Acid (SP?) is one of the others. Again, give you the trip, but no nasty side effects. The only realy bad thing about acid is the Flashback later in like, but, I can't really see that as much of a problem.

Finally, the most common: Marijuana.

Marijuana a.k.a Mary-Jane, Chronic, Green, Tea, 'Ol 7 star, hemp, cannabis, pot, weed, Puff the Magic Dragon, dope, and bong fodder. It's not as bad as they say it is. It's like smoking a cigarette except better. Granted, there is a bit more shit in it (unless you grow your own or you know your dealer), but is it not worth it? Plus, it can help with Glaucoma.

Cigarettes a.k.a FAGS (for all you blokes and chavs) - feh. smokes aren't that bad. Cigars are better.

Sorry, the brief foray stoner topic brought out my inner hippie.

Anyways, I've got a week until I meet Tom. Let the countdown begin!

Reality Check

Being judged... not a fun thing. I'm always getting called a "geek," or "nerd," or anything else of that sort because I play thing like Magic the Gathering while everyone else's is getting pumped up over cinch. I'll say to some of my 'friends', "Hey guys, I just put a new flash on newgrounds!", and they'll be like, "Nobody care's about your stupid animations." It's annoying as heck to have a hobby no one cares about. But then there's the people that see me wearing a video game shirt that ask me if I'm a nerd... that's too far.

You can't prevent people from forming opinions on you, or anything else. Even given negligible info, folk will still form an opinion. Part of being a human.

Heck, I don't know you but I've formed my own crude opinion. Everyone's got an opinion on everything, whether they admit it or not.

'releasing emotions'

I don't understand this. We have emotions that need to be released? If I'm sad, I'll maybe cry, whatever; if I'm happy, laugh, boogie, whatever. Thinking about it, it seems like anyone who 'stores' emotiions and needs to 'release' them is just overly worried about outside opinion.

This is assuming you're not living somewhere where you're gonna be knifed or whatever for being different.

Yeah people do need to get over judgements. I think we have to face that if we spend our time posting on Newgrounds flash forum, making animations/games and wearing video game t-shirts then we are nerds. If you dont like that tag then at least accept that you are part nerd. Being one thing doesnt mean you cant be something else, in my opinion.
I am perfectly happy to accept that I'm a nerd or geek or whatever.

I asked this girl once what she was, as she claimed no to be emo or goth ( even though she dressed like it) she said "I'm just me" and I had to stop myself laughing. Labels are not that big a deal.
As with everything that gets people all riled up, get over it.
