AFAIK the NG admins have absolutely nothing to do with that site.
HO HO HOPE you become a Newgrounds Supporter this year!

one thing that really bugs me about group flashes, like stop crying your heart out, is that some people have a still image with lip sync, and can get coautherd for it and share int he huge score and award.. it's annoying.. and cheap.
Collabs are sometimes just a n00bs way of getting a high battng ave and 'respect'..

snow
appaerntly it was snowing today.. snow, in march.. in scotland!?
its cold enough for snow i'll tell ya that :(
fingers are numb :(
Snow
I went to play gold and it started to snow, pretty heavy. More like sleet though, we just had to wait in the car for 15 mins till it had passed then carried on our jolly game
Re:Snow
Didn't snow here, but did rain heavily for a couple of minutes. I like it when it rains, means I get to miss bath night.

yes, need be. I don't know what the obvious is here. I saved it as a flash 7 file, so it should work. :/

Quitting college
Wah, sorry to introduce a new topic when there's already a million going on. I've just been talking to my mum, and I think i'm gunna quit college. I'm so fed up with all the silly little bits of paperwork we have to do. For example, towards the start of the year we had to make 3 film posters. Mine were the best in the class, but I got a merit rather than a distinction because I forgot to hand in the sketches, or something.
Also i've found I don't really want to be a film maker anymore. I like making little films and stuff, but the whole thing surrounding it professionally is a pain. We have a long running assignment where we are working with actors, have to do log sheets, storyboards, scripts, risk assesments and so on. Alot of it is bullshit, but that's how it's done professionally. If I was to stick it out for the next year and a half, would I even care to work for a TV company or anything?
Buttt, then what am I gunna do if I quit? Pretty risky descision.
--
Are any of you in a simillar situation? Did you just quit school, college etc and go get a small job, or did you find a decent job somehow?
Quitting college
I am in a similar situation. I am in college now for a Forensic science program, and while it's interesting, it's not something that I really see myself doing now, mainly how long it would take and how small the odds are of me getting a job that I might enjoy. I am planning on dropping out after the semester is done (in a month). I plan to switch into an animation program somewhere soon, and in the mean time just working/drawing/animating to practice and learn as much as I can. Than, once I'm done the schooling, I'll work on a reel and start applying to places, I guess.
I am not doing as much hands-on stuff as you (ie. making things), but right now I just study hard and cram for tests and exams, and get stressed out, only to forget the stuff later on and then forget about the class. It sucks, really. Also, I see a lot of friends that want to switch their programs too, and just settling on something they think they could do. "Oh, I guess I could be a teacher" or "I guess I could go into business". I don't want to just settle on something. I want to do something I'd like to do anyways.
So yes Mogly, I am in a similar situation, somewhat. I plan on quitting where I'm at now and going somewhere else. The only thing that makes me nervous is what if I can't get a decent job after more schooling? Or if I don't make it into a place I want to go to.

but that's why collabs are good you can get a good score for a thery good part even if
he is short and it can give you a start...allso if you participate in collabs you will have
more expirience later on..
Quitting College
My college course was supposed to be games development I'm half way through the second semester and we haven't even touched on it i think the only thing ive actually learned at this course was in website development and software development (and we didn't touch on games in it) but every other lesson is useless.
We had a bunch of tasks the other day and all we had to do was stuff like create new folder, rename it. This is the highest computer course i can be in at my age and for what I'm wanting to do but it's totally useless stuff so i'm thinking of quiting too.
Who else thinks the college isn't teaching you what you thought they would when you applied
also it's snowing in England too
Quitting College
I think about it often. The problem is, if I left I'd have to go someplace else and I don't know where I'd go. The only reason I can live somewhere besides my parents house is because I'm at school. Sometimes I think the only reason I went was to simply get out of the house. I sometimes wonder if I had grown up in a more accepting household if I would be more willing to do more things my parents wouldn't like, like not going to college.
I don't think any of my credits would transfer over to another school so that kinda means all the time and money I spent at this school would be a complete waste. That and I would need to meet a bunch of new people.
I think one day I'll just become a hermit and live out in the woods or something along those lines. It seems a bit more logical than spending so many years in school just to find out your education is worthless and that you can't do anything with it anyway.
College
Id definately recommend staying in college, even if you find that you dont persue what it is you are studying i think just sticking to it and seeing it through says alot about you. I went through similar growing pains when i started off in college, and in fact even after finishing i realized that print design is something i did not want to do.
But in the long run, im glad i stuck to it, especially here in america where school is so fucking expensive.. to decide to just quit one day is not really an option unless you're willing to give away thousands of dollars.
I think you should stick it out, just being in college and stuff is a good networking tool to take advantage of as you near the end of your term. Its much tougher to really succeed in the professional world without having a web of contacts.

College
People told me college was a great laugh and t really isn't i don't like it at all but i most likely will stick at it i'm half way through the second semester out of 4 they seem to go by pretty quickly so i'll stick to it, then hopefully if i get into uni they will actually teach me what i'm wanting to learn.
And yeah my college course is all assignments too no exams unless you need to redo your GSCEs it depends what course your on as well.
College / University
Hands up, who's talking about College (as in, American Universities) and who's talking about College (UK Post-Compulsory Education at A-Level / BTEC levels)?
Because I think people are getting the two confused. My advice is to stick at them both regardless. No better training and no better experience to be had in my humble opinion.
Re: Snow
Fucking hailstorm starts up JUST as I hang up my shirts to dry.
And then it does it AGAIN after I put them out for the second time. What's with this weather?! We had a drier January!
...
College
I'm in the UK college doing a BETC course and i am going to be sticking to it or at least try if it just really starts pissing me off and i find a better course or something i may quit but most likely stick to it.
It won't seem that long until it's over then i have a qualification one i want or not still a qualification.
Snow/ Hailstone
Yeah i went to take the dog a walk twice today i waited till it stopped and the first time second i got outside Hail started. Then later on once it had stopped took him out again one foot out the door snow. But thats England for you.
College - University

Its true. But that pains me. No one goes to college(university) for the right reasons anymore. Its all about the job your trying to get or trying to avoid. What ever happened to wanting to actually getting an education because you were interested in the subject? Its all the pursuit of money not the pursuit of happiness.

Eh, I feel like at least if I found a better path now I could avoid the money I'm GOING to spend rather than worry about what I already did spend. My school is so unnecessarily expensive considering it sucks.
Aw man I was up in Montreal for the weekend where the drinking age is 18.........
I got drunk off my ass. Too bad you weren't there Luis, me and like 8 friends played a shitload of drinking games it was classic.
PIRATE RULE FTW
Sig
Well, at one moment, I sat here drunk and decided to steal Luis' sig and write odd loving messages on it, and I forget why. Either way, it was a terrible drunken effort and I decided I had to go back and spruce it up a bit. Now It looks like I'm gay for Luis. Times like this I'm glad I don't tell people how much time I spend on the NG BBS.
BBS Shame
Is anyone ashamed of the fact they come on the BBS? I mean I personally will sometimes minimize the window if someone walks up behind me. Its more so they can't really read what I'm typing but also where I'm typing it. Message boards in general aren't very cool places to hang out.

Ok, really. I have nothing against drinking. Whatever I might have said, probably was misinterpreted by you as something else. I apologize.

I have some shame coming here, I have some shame that I animate in my (non-weekend) free time rather than do more normal shit, so neither of them are really public information. So I don't really make it public information that I do either.
College/Uni
I don't know, I planned on going into business school at some point, and hopefully going to a college (uni) that allowed me to take a couple of classes in art and animation. That's fairly rare but I still hope to find it. Even if I was able to get to a level of professional animation (which would never happen) I couldn't see myself pursuing that for the rest of my life. I wouldn't want to make something I love to do into something I have to do. Either way I think you should suffer through it,its fairly hard to get any sort of (half-decent) job without a college(uni) diploma. You can work on a demo reel and just construct it slowly and see where that can take you. If you really feel the need you could transfer into an arts program, even if credits don't count, and push up your student loans. Either way dropping out probably wouldn't be the best option.
NY meet up

New York is't that far from Toronto... mmmm, I could go to this maybe, if my sis drives cause I ain't asking my parents "Yo these guys from the Internet are meeting up in an ally in New York can I go?".
I didn't drink on St. Patty's but I wore green. Thats how I contribute.
NY Meet Up
I would Go, If I could Go, But I cant.
I've gone and become an SSBB addict... what to do, what to do...
New York Meet-Up
NY is only about an hour and a half away from me, it just depends where in NY I'm going. I think my mom would be freaked out if I say "I'm meeting some online buddies in New York. BYE MOM!"
It's not a safe world. Luis may take advantage of my frail little white body. :[
NY
Welll i was mostly referring to users who have the ability to make it there without pulling some james bond type shit.. which pretty much means users who are local or are old enough to make it over there. Anywho we'll see.. Next time I'm in a particular state maybe ill just give a heads up and if anyone feels like running into me then they can.

Too bad. You heard Luis, no Bond, James Bond types allowed. We don't like 007 types around here. This is the type we like:
