MS Paint Car

Though his ability is admirable, its nothing TOO impressive. Its an example of skill and patience but its not as though he came up with the image from scrap. I would bet my life he used a picture reference. Paint may not be an ideal program to use but its more or less the same as anything else just very rudimentary.

FLASH HELP PLEASE

I'm making an animation where at times the person's clothes need to be changed, so instead of making seperate movieclips, I made one graphic with single frame enables. I've gotten to the part his clothes need to change, and I enter the number "2" for the second frame and it won't change! It's on a keyframe, and the frame inside the graphic DOES exist.... help <_>

When I do intend on working really hard I whip out the Led Zeppelin, Communication Break Down and Stairway took me through the 3 hours of Hook Shot, lol.

Whoa its me!

Example of the Human Figure

I've mentioned before that I regularly do figure drawings as homework assignments for a drawing class. I used to use some Playboys I had, but its hard to find a decent sized image that has a background thats clear enough for me to draw alone with the figure in the foreground.

Anyway, I've run out of images I feel like drawing in the Playboys so if someone could suggest somewhere, online preferably so I don't have to go out to a store(because I can't get to one anyway), where I might find some good examples of the human figure. They should be tasteful but I don't care if there is nudity or whatever. I'd prefer if they weren't studio shots because then theres just some person with little or no background which makes for a bad image.

I thought the artistic nudes would be pretty good but first i had to sign up just to see them, and they are mostly really weird images.

RE: Really good drawing of a car - in MS paint

I don't understand. Why is this any more amazing than sprite work? Is there a different way of doing sprite work than using a pixel-by-pixel program? If there is, I'd like to know. I've seen much more amazing sprite work, in games, and by average people. Just because it's a car is animated and has music, shouldn't really decide if it's amazing. I think the fast that people can make hundreds of sprites of the same thing, in different positions amazing. Especially because they are on a small scale.

These statements are retractable at the prior learning of a different way to make a sprite. (Super Mario RPG)

These new signatures can suck on mah balls. My lolis don't fit in. Lol wut what are you guys still doing on NG, move on.

RE: The Human Figure

I got an Idea, draw lines that map out the human on one sheet of paper, then trace it and add details on the other sheet of paper. ^_^ Well, if you don't HAVE to use playboys as a guide. Then just draw a background yourself underlapping the person.

I don't usually listen to music when i work. I find it distracting.

I dunno why everyone added a C to me name before, and I find pixelz is more marketable. It can be a name for myself or a studio, shmelo was only a name, a kind of silly name too.

And now I have a question about making sprites. If I wanted to make my own (I don't wanna use anymore Nintendo characters in my games) is there a way to make sprites in flash? Or fireworks or Paint. I don't have photoshop, and if so would I be using the grid?

Whoa its me!

this is how i'd do it.

have each item of clothing ina different movie clip < like normal> and have frame 1 the default clothing, frame 2 next outfit, and so on.

then have a counter somewhere off screen...

see where i'm going yet?

when clothing 1 is selected, the counter is at 0, clothing 2, would be counter1, ect.

then simply have in eahc movie clip , if counter = # goto...

:D did his help :P?

What is Love?

I put off watching it because of the thumbnail looking shitty. When I did watch it I wasn't really impressed, I didn't really expect it to be so long and was somewhat upset that it was. I ddin't really like the style of it.

I'd watch "There She Is" over "What Is Love?" any day. To me, one is professional, the other is amateur.

WHAT IS LOVE

One of the more creative pieces I've ever seen. It's lengthy and chock full of entertaining content. Coolest thing ever: The hate cannon.

Hey people, how much do you reckon this could get sponsored for?

Yeah, thanks.

Sponsorings and other jazz

I'm not sure about anyone else but I've always gotten uncomfortable by questions about how much can i get for this .. or how much can i charge for this website ... or whatever else?

Its such an akward question because its the type of thing that is like a fingerprint, where every situation is pretty unique and its so hard to be put on the spot like that.

I think that if sponsored games can go from 200-1000000 dollars... as you are more experienced you sort of begin to realize where on the spectrum you fall.. its the same as any other profession really.. you gotta start on the bottom rungs and work your way up through scrapes and bruises.

That doesnt mean oh go out and get ripped off but that means just understand where you are and that you will find it difficult to compare yourself to seasoned veterans in the sponsoring scene. Long story short, ask your sponsor how much theyd pay for it because surely nobody here can answer for them.

Sponsorings

I animate for funa nd to make people happy, not to whore off to some gorup to get some money off it... i don't wanna selll out :(

although at some point, when i feel liek i have reached a point that is worthy of sponcering/selling i will do so.

not saying that all sponcerd games/movies are crap but sometimes it just seems like, well, a bit cheap.

:P
btw i am insane so don't yell at me for my views ;)

Really? Wow, your Birthday today, and mine (:P) and Cybexs tomorrow. Coincidence, i think not :O. Anyway, Happy Birthday Fuzz :).

Anyway, the site looks great. I love the design, looks very artistic, and very neat. Just keep doing what you're doing, it looks good :).

Sponsorship

I wouldn't call it selling out, its just making money for something you enjoy doing, i don't see what's wrong with that :P. Anyway, good game, I'm sure you could get $400+ for it :).

But as Luis said, i'd ask your Sponsor of choice. Say what you want (highest) first, and then just haggle down to a reasonable price :).

Flash Games
I don't play flash or internet games very often because generally I find them boring. The fact is, I can go play San Andreas, Prince of Persia or an other professionally made game, or I can play a little browser game where i collect coins or hoops or whatever.

I just wondered, if people actually play their own games once theyve made them. Like you've just finished making a game, do you then play that for the next month?

Hell no, I hate my games.

It's not because I don't think they're good, it's just I have to test them so much that I get sick to shit of them :P

That's just my comment xD

I agree its not selling out in that respect. Its more rewarding to make a cool game and then be happy suprised by some sort of income for it... Its the day when you cake up and you find yourself HAVING to make a game cause you need some money when you are a pestilence to the scene. lol

Anyway happy birthday FUZZ i just unblocked you.

I make mini games that are just fun for a little bit, and I do sometimes come back and play them because its neat to play a game you've made. And I play internet games only when I'm online just browsing and chatting, but I do mostly play pro games. I also prefer making games because I like the process and the project more then making an animation. Probably because I've got more books on game design and can organize them better, I don't have any good techniques for beginning and finishing an animation.
