Each randomlly paired artist/actionscripter would have the freedom to make a minigame of their choosing. There would have to be a specific way to report back to the main game the result of the minigame but that has been done succesfully before, such as the four second fad series. There would need to be a "main" team that did the board game or whatever derivation of it they wanted to do but it would not be as centralized as a worms game would.

I actually organized a sort of mario-party esque collab with frostedmuffins many months ago but we kinda... forgot about it.

YES! BUT THAT CAN ALSO HAPPEN WITH A FLASH GAME.

In the duration of game creation, an idea or work in progress can crash and burn because of outside influences or internal struggles of the development team.

Excellent analogy Glaiel. You get an A+.

I know that but people should get a little award in there profile, though you can tell who has been user of the day by going to a ceartain part of the site.

Lol, why?
It's nothing big, and it's just randomly picked so it doesn't really deserve a award.

I definately e-mailed Tom about the entire user of the day thing with the following message:

Hey Tom, I got an idea for you.

We all know (or at least I think I know) that the current system for the NG BBS UotD is... well stupid. It's random, so it doesn't mean anything, and it ultimately amounts to nothing... not even a little medal or something in your profile.

I propose a completely different system:

Eliminate the UotD, and instead put this in:

A moderator-voted User of the Forum. This could be someone that has been really helpful, really funny, whatever, that the mods agree deserves the title, and there should be a separate one per forum ( i.e. flash forum, general forum, etc), because we all know there are totally different standards and regulars in each forum, and to give a UotF for the entire forums system would be rediculously impossible.

Obviously this would take time, and wouldn't be an 'of the day' sort of thing. I would propose it be once a month, kind of like the best portal submissions of each month.

Also, it'd be really cool if the winners got some kind of trophy in their profile saying they were user of the month on X month of X year.

Anyways, maybe you think I'm retarded, but I currently dislike the UotD system, and think this new proposed one would be totally awesome.

P.S. Thanks for upping the upload max to 10MB. :D

I like the randomness of the User of the Day, I think if it was always some vote thing, probably the same people would be up there month after month and that gets boring. I think that if anything maybe it could just be a random movie of the day, i know theres other shit similar floating around different parts of the site but to have it up there i think would be better use of real estate.

Yeah exactly. I dont like stuff like voted stuff, just look at that vote thread glaiel made.. there's blatantly gunna be more peeps like "Aw no one mentioned me" than getting noticed, so it's just a bit of a glorifying/deglorifying thing.

Had a cool day today.. in the morning we had to go make a movie about 'drama' right, and mine was about me and my friend having a conversation, but then him blowing me off and actually talking to a post called Larry. Then it was break, so we went n got stoned, then came back and had to write a script for a tv drama. The ironic thing is our given theme was 'Peace'.. and straight away it was like.. ooh, peace, what's to do with that..? :)

God, aswell on the bus this morning there was this kid who I know, and he went and sat at the front, and trying to be cool wrote 'FUCK' on the window.. but of course you have to write it backwards else it'd be gibberish, and he's came out like the pic below:

It was so funny, it was just like the stupidest most subtle thing and he didn't even notice, he just sort of let it ride out..

Yeah, but to get that effect he'd have to write out F-U-C-K with each letter back to front. Either he's such a retard that he's gathered that you have to make some attempt to allow for a reversed PoV and yet still spelled the word out with all letters in order, or your picture is lacking in accuracy.

At 10/11/06 06:41 PM, BleeBlap wrote: The way programming works all of those have to be intertwined. How will the person who programs the movement of the worms know how to interact with the terrain. Pre-Flash 8 when I expiremented with destructable terrain I ended up accomplishing it by duplicating movieclips onto mask and then doing a sort of inverse hit test to see where the player was allowed to go rather than where he couldn't go. That could make one actionscripters work totally worthless if they hadn't talked about it ahead of time. The same sort of thing happesn with the worms flying around after they get hit. The weapon select system might be able to be self sufficient enough to be able to work with other code but the person who designed the engine would have to know how to interface with it.

I was thinking, everyone could get given a set of codes. For example, there would be a set code that everyone would be given which checks to see the worm has hit the ground, and a set code that blows holes in the ground etc.

I think it could work.
