You can sleep without dreaming, for example if someone wakes you up 10 minutes after you started sleeping.
That's like saying your video game is crashing when you keep pressing the X button in the top right corner right after it loads.
Lol, obviously... I meant for real amounts of time. The first REM sleep cycle starts approximately 90 minutes, or 1 hour and 30 minutes into your sleep. So basically sleeping isn't going to help you unless you sleep for AT LEAST 1 hour and 30 minutes, so naps are misguided :P

Technically, it logically means that you're saying you must dream if you sleep for over 90 minutes, and therefore it is impossible not to dream if you wake up after 90 minutes and 1 sec? :P
Nah I'll stop it. I got your point

That's odd, becuse I generalyl dream in the mornings, say around 5:00 - 6:00, and often after waking up and falling asleep again for like five minutes.

RE: Sleep
I know how you feel, kids at school say "Dude, I never dream I'm kewl lolololol" and I say "Shut the fuck up you stupid son of a whore, you always dream!"
I'm a hostile young lad. :)
for example if someone wakes you up 10 minutes after you fall asleep
We're talking about REM sleep, you always dream when you enter the REM stage of sleep, but when you're just falling asleep you don't. You also have multiple dreams, though the interactive and/or complicated ones usually occur in the REM phase thingy. Right? Right.

I remember someone once, long ago, told me that you think you had just dreamt when you sleep, but you had actually dreamt hours ago, but then, if you like wake up at 5 and go to sleep again, adn then wake up at 7 with a new dream, you had just dreamt!!!! i DO dream, my dreams are weird... anyway they say dreams are like, um.. i dont know the word, but it has something to do with your toughts and your subconscient and how you really fell, the present situation, etc, and thats how some crazy psikic (omG wrong spelling!) people say that if you dream x stuff your situation with y person is wrong, etc,
i just somehow sometimes cant explain how my mind makes up such different places and stuff i had never seen (or percieved in anyway i know) before
Dreams
Anyone else find they dream more when they're drunk? I rarely remember dreams, but recently everytime i get drunk, i have weird dreams.
My drunk dreams rock though!
Wonder why alcohol makes you dream more though.

Respect
Havent posted here in ages but i did want to post something thats been on my mind and that is to respect yourself and your work. Theres some insanely talented people in this site and this forum/thread even. You have great potential and will truly be a force to be reckoned with in the business but dont sell yourself short for the short term gain or the few hundred bucks you can make tmrw only to have a ball and chain strapped to your creative work. Look at things in the long run. I've been part of this site for almost 10 years, i've watched it grow and become what it is and although i was not able to quit my lifeguarding $6.00/hr job during my early years i can now look back and appreciate the hard work it took to get here. And although i dont have the hundreds of dollars or top of the line computers to show for it its refreshing to know that i made it this far without any sort of ball and chain feeding from my growth. Really strive to be around people and sites that cater to YOUR best interests and genuinely value what you as an individual have to offer to this scene.
Flash is something very difficult to master and be good at and just by submitting your shit to the portal and constantly being around it you are that much further than the thousands of people who 'wish they could do that'. Be proud of who are and what you have to offer and dont become an object to be bid on. Its a short term gain. Soon your money will be gone.. soon your xbox360 will be old.. soon your 2000 dollar computer will be outdated.. dont dwell on the petty gains.
I sincerely wish the best to every one of you, and ill always be around to be an ally in your growth wherever possible.

RE: Respect
Nice. Sadly, I probably won't get that far. I have no talent. :-(
Re: Respect
I'm also curious about the short term gains you were talking about, From my understandment you were telling people not to squandr their creativity by simply doing work for others who won't care how you are doing a week later just for a paycheck. Definetly some good advice in there .
Re: Birthdays
Funny, mines tommorow (not that any here cares), and my brothers is the next day and no we're not twins if you were wondering, just a really strange coincedance (stupid spelling)
Happy B-Day Sonx, may this be one more in a line of many :D

Well just cause you are not born with it doesnt mean you cant be good at something.. you just gotta work for it a little harder than others is all.. btw dont take any of my taunts from the past personally i like to mess with some people specially those that like to mess with me its playful banter.

Nice writing Lu.
Personally I guess I can say I learned the hard way, but sometimes that's the best way to learn.
Anyway, where are you going? New job in NYC or something?

Re: Luis' 6000th Post
You could pretend you thihk art is dead and film some1 chopping off your hands as a metaphor for what large corporations are doing to animators
or some other artistic bullshit that doesn't involve mutalating yourself, although that would be alot less fun to watch.
Another idea is to put up on ebay a single piece of computer paper that you signed in the lower right hand corner and see how much you can make off it.
Respect
Wow Luis, you raise our selfsteems :)
That was really deep, thanks for the advice, ill have it in mind, especially in this materialistic worls, we should all have first what we think is really important rather than just money...

I think Luis was as drunk makin that post as I am mentioning it.

Nah, of course not ;) I really appreciate how much you care for creativity and stuff like that, Lulu. It's great to know that there are plenty of awesome artists who wouldn't dream of selling out or turning their work into just another means of making money.
Also, has anyone else here started using the [strong] tags instead of [b]?

I completely agree with that, now give us some names :p It's true that a lot of people here aren't respected at all or seem to be the regular not so good flasher users who submit 'alright' games, but even games that are considered OK by NG users are something special. I've seen people who flash irl and I'm even a lot more advanced than my friend's dad who works with computer programs including flash. We don't always realize it, but being able to flash decently is a great skill already. We're special. ^^

The work that took you to get here? By 'get here', you mean get to work with 13 year old kids? :<
Flash is something very difficult to master and be good at and just by submitting your shit to the portal and constantly being around it you are that much further than the thousands of people who 'wish they could do that'.
Agreed. On the internet we feel like normal e-nerds who are passionate about games and stuff, but when I first told my irl friends that I flashed they were like NOWAY and no one believed me :P Tough times.
I sincerely wish the best to every one of you, and ill always be around to be an ally in your growth wherever possible.
Well that was a very sensitive post that's rarely seen from you, except you stole it from my post about respect a dozen and a half pages ago :p
Conclusion: Toast is a very talented young man, you should respect him and help him with his flash career instead of calling him a spammer - which he isn't. Ya hear it?

Don't believe luis had anything philosophical or important to say, he probably copied it from another forum and added a -L.
At 2/9/07 10:30 PM, Masterswordman wrote: Nice. Sadly, I probably won't get that far. I have no talent. :-(
Haha, e-drama. We could really make a movie out of it, there's just enough philosophical speeches and drama for it, would make a perefect love story movie. Could get us some money in the 'long term' as luis says too...
RE: Massively Massive Game
So what would this game be like? Four-Second without the four seconds? o__O
I might join depending on how you want all the games to fit together.
